eFootball (All Platforms)

I guess I might have said I'm planning to do a FIFA23 vs eFootball realism review. Uh yeah that's not going to happen. After watching several FIFA23 videos, I've refunded my preorder on Steam and I'm $75 richer now. Crap dribbling, turning, physics, everything. The only reason I was considering it was because it was next-gen on PC, but even that doesn't make it worthwhile.
What FIFA 23 offers for $70 is 1000x more in every aspect than what Efootball offers for free. That is the reality.

The argument is invalid from it's own.
Because efooball costs ZERO.
Apart from that, FIfa is surely rich in content, but what happens on the pitch has nothing to do with football.
Its a puppet sliding fest, with nothing natural in terms of movement, passing, body weight.

Gameplay is what it is. It's not the best our there. Is it better than Efootball? That debatable. Efootball's gameplay as it stands, isn't that good either. Is Fifa 23 better than older PES games? IMO, no. Fifa 23 is serviceable for a football game ATM, but it could change for the worse once FUT fetishists content creators start bitching and moaning on YouTube and Twitter about how slow pace the game is, and how they can't score 8 goals with Neymar like they did last year.

Personally, I'm debating whether to skip this game or not. I need more time to read and watch the reviews this game before I go and spend 70 bucks. However, you're comparing a $70 next gen game with 100gb worth of content to a F2P game with zero content. Even if efootball was this deep simulation football game with superior gameplay mechanics, it's still has zero content, and that will always be the determining factor for the majority of football gamers. Efootball doesn't have to be this perfect simulation game, but boy does it needs a lot more than fucking cards and boring events.

There is a reason why ppl are opting for older PES games instead of efootball. Dribbling mechanics and turning isn't going to save efootball if this game continues to shell out POTW or POTM cards and other recycled garbage.

It's not even debatable. Not even "to me". FIFA 23 is just the worst football game ever made well between FIFA and PES.
Even others games, i found This is Football on PS2 more enjoyable.

There's not even an argument needed. Efootball isn't good because of some stuffs, Fifa because of the whole representation of football.
Just one video from one game after the other and there's nothing to add.

I know you all hate Efootball sometimes for Konami's move, for lack of content etc. but open your eyes. Even FIFA 22 is less balanced, representative of real life football visually and controller in hands... "Not good" and "Unplayable/Worst game" is not on the same level of mediocrity

But i didn't said the game was good. Efootball to me is just average but ball physics tempo is always the same, the rythm is inexistant and i found it awful...
But if they manage to modify that and some bugs here and there, there's hope. FIFA 23 to me is completely hopeless and broken, in all objectivity : i don't have a grudge against Fifa or EA. I just don't care about current football game as it's dead ATM. I found the 22 pretty bad, well, in comparison it's a good game vs 23. Even if both don't have inertia, weight shift, physics engine replaced by hyper(speed)motion + the goal to goal situation. There's nothing like this in Efootball, it's not debatable as just those parameters are essential for any sports/football game.

Well there's no need to talk more : both aren't good. Both can be forgotten (well Efootball got big updates a bit reassuring... Just ZERO modes)

Yeah, maybe that is the worst part of all! Old PES games, you can play them even now, any of old games, but with this live service, since one version gone. it's gone for ever and you will never play it again. v1.1.2 was one of the best, but now it's gone and the game plays, feels and looks like a $#T .
What was particularly better in v1.1.2?

Some issue with the a.i behaviour. At 11:52 alaba sprint ahead to close down the ball carrier leaving massive space behind him which did not make any sense to do as a cb. They need to be more intelligent.

Also the ref needs total rework. Often players hacked from behind but nothing was called.
Despite the flaws i am still enjoying the gameplay against the a.i

ball physics tempo is always the same
If you play on default Pass Level 1 the passes have indeed a same slowey feel even if you put more power to them. It even says in the description that the pass powering is automated. On Level 2 which i use there is more zip to passes and you control the powering yourself, put less power and it will be slower, put more power and it will be faster.

Also because there is no Pass Power stat for players but only Short Pass stat in general..the pass power is connected to how good the Short Pass stat is..For example if i make a pass with Kimmich even with medium power it feels stronger and accurate..if i make the same pass with the same power with Rudiger who only has 60 something in Short Pass stat it feels much slower and more inaccurate.

I think what he meant was the ball has no acceleration and deceleration after being kicked. If i'm not mistaken

I get the deceleration part..like when the ball goes slowly out of play for a throw in..but how would the acceleration work though..? You make a pass at a certain speed and then when it's on the way to the receiver it becomes faster..? That doesn't make any sense..

Yeah i think its about deceleration. Makes more sense. The ball speed will decrease with friction from the wind and grass, etc.
Its my bad. Maybe i missinterpret his word wrongly.

I think that we're many years away from the point where the wind will affect the ball behaviour in a football game.
Maybe if NASA makes a game. :DD

That sounds like porn.

I wish people stopped preordering games in general honestly. In a perfect world, they'd prove to us that their product is worth our money but I'm an idealistic one I know.

I *never* preorder games. It's just that first time in the frostbite era, PC got next-gen treatment, so I was sure I'll get it no matter how bad. I just didn't expect it to be that bad. Also, with the Steam Deck, I'm playing many non-footy games now so I have no time for FIFA and certainly not a review of how bad it is.

@Dennis_87 what is your take on the ball physic?
I kinda like or at least can tolerate the general feel and look but yeah it's not very good and has surely much room for improvement. There are situations and animations where i like how the ball looks and behaves and other situations where it looks off. I like the feel of switching play to the other side with a Stunning long ball for example and i like how players like Neymar or Lewa produce a finesse shot with their signature animations. The ball feels natural in these shots. But there is a certain finesse shot animation that is produced from ''normal'' players without signature styles and it looks like shit and the ball behaves weird with that animation and produces an unnatural curve.

Also i don't like much how the ball feels on penalties. It's even too rocket like or too soft if you try to side foot a penalty kick with less power. In general the penalty system is poor and outdated and doesn't feel good, they need to rework it from scratch. I like the free kicks more, there it looks more natural with a curve applied to the ball. So in general the ball leaves me satisfied most of the times when the animation that is produced from the player looks also nice. These two are combined for my satisfaction. One thing i surely hate though is that ugly ass big shadow around the ball when you play. Especially if the ball is in the air and it's about to drop down you can see the shadow on the pitch and it looks ridiculously big. They need to fix that shit it looks totally off.

There are many things can be improved but it always 1 step forward and 3 steps back from konami. Luckily we have amazing modders here like nesa, juce, bogo36 and others that are working on modding the game (for pc). That give me some hope for the future.

Back on the ball topic. Yes the ball's shadow is ugly. Its very apparent when dribbling or throw in. You can see the difference between the player's shadow and ball shadow. It needs fixing.

I never like finese shot since pes21 maybe because i use it with players that do not have the trait. Will try it later with players like lewandowski, messi or neymar.

Edit: I hate the penalty in this game with passion since last pes. The animations, ball physic, goalkeeper, net they are all awful. I always turn it off when playing exhibition/trial match

That's fair. I thought about getting a steam deck but I figured I'd was better off paying off my medical bills instead lol. Maybe in the future.

I talked about 1.1.2 a long time ago so I'll quote myself

OK there is definitely gameplay difference in 1.1.2 . The firs one that biggest I found in first 10 sec is the "Мatch-up " button, in my case L2, now is fully manual. The AI do not take control over your player which is fantastic for me! I was so piss off before that when press match up and I was losing control over my defender.
And somebody say something about dribbling.. I'm not complete sure, I play just one game but looks like they bring back some of close control, fast small touches with some players like Neymar or Messi, how they have it and its feel bit more responsive , but again I can't confirm that on 100% .

I have some post after that too, mostly how they ruin that with 1.14.

My English is not great so... i hope you understand me. The animation was smoother for me, because by then they had mastered this new Inertia feature almost perfectly. Now everything is a complete mess, as I mentioned earlier, the AI doesn't obey almost any laws of physics, changes directions, recovers positions very quickly, sometimes it's devoid of logic (at least on Legend difficulty), breaks animations and makes the game look bad. This smoothness, which was characteristic of the first versions, is already beginning to disappear, and the game is increasingly returning as a feeling and density to the old PES versions, but as I said earlier, to their bad side.

The bad thing is that somehow, they lost the responsiveness (at least in attack, in defence it is not exactly like that.), in certain situations, especially the first touch is now strange and quite unfaithful, dribbling is more difficult firstly because of what I said about the AI reaction and recovery time and because they took away a large part of the responsiveness and the freedom of control. Feints become an idea more difficult now, adding to that the heavy touches of even players like Neymar and Messi makes the game, at least for me, not very enjoyable to play. Again, these are things that are hard to prove because it's all down to personal feeling, and we no longer have the old version of the game for comparisons but just muscle memory and old impressions.

Ver1.0 feels like the players are wearing boot with shorter studs while ver2.0 with longer studs imo. For feint i have no comment as i dont know what feint is in the game.

Edit: the videos from konami are for mobile. My bad

Fifa lost it's simulation cred years ago, and I have come to accept that. That's why I said the gameplay for Fifa is what it is. It's not a true sim and it will never win a contest with PES in that department. PES on the other hand built it's reputation on simulation style football with it's close attention to detail. They squandered it all releasing this pile of wank.

It’s an online mode that you invite your friends to play on the same team as you against other people with your dream team, it’s co op basically
What? Is that true?
