BTW i 100% agree with @vxcmplx regarding the on the ball sheilding which is so poorly done. It should not be manual, it should be automatically contextually to what opponents are around you. The L2 function on the ball is now wasted since i can't use it for manual passes, level 3 passing is annoying as there are so many situations it either goes to the wrong player or the passes are auto overhit or underhit directly t your opponent. Not sure when this survey is coming but this is a huge problem for me and i hope others speak about this to Konami.

There are just no shielding related actionable animations in the game. Even if they turn it auto it could still be missing. I don't see the AI having more shielding related contextual animations either. My feeling is, those kind of PES20 demo animations are not in the game, not even hidden.

I don't mind it being manual, it can actually be a good thing, maybe even utilizing the % sensitivity on L2, same way the speed button R2 now collects your input of how far you press the button (how many %). Like if you could shove back into the pressing player, that'd be nice to have.

But the command needs to be related to animations, and the animations need to be plenty to accommodate context. The shielding animation is very singular and non contextual atm

How many years do you think until PES returns properly?

It's so strange how few sports games there are despite the obvious mainstream appeal. Licences is a barrier to entry, but there's enough people dissatisfied with FIFA a semi decent game should be able to attract enough players regardless.

I'd love a lesser known developer to have a stab at a simulation. Like Big Ant who does the cricket games. Even if it was janky in places and lacked polish, a new approach would be a breath of fresh air.

In a way the late 00s FIFA games felt a bit like that after years of being atrocious for so long. Actually thought up to until the engine change in 2017 they replicated the fundamentals really well other than passing.

It's depressing that any Football games that have appeared recently are geared for online play and the same audience as FUT. I guess unless it's a huge company, who would fund a single player game, when you try and monetise and make huge amounts of money from in-app purchases etc.

The Pes we knew is never coming back. Even if the current model would be somehow defeated I see them scratching it all and abandon the thing rather than ever present again something complete. We must hope, as you said yourself, that sooner or later some new kid in the block will realize there is also a market for a different kind of game rather than the FUT clone we'll be flooded in a couple of years and put an effort build it. In the current situation I wouldn't hold my breath for it tho.

Gave this another go.

I lasted about 2 mins. It is serious gash. I was on WC, got the ball on the edge of my own box and just ran past everyone. Keeper saved the shot, it fell to their defender, he passed straight to my attacker, who tapped it in.

Konami can fuck off, bunch of idiots.

ot: I bet you have another online account with the nickname “1234567a”! …or it’s your real name!

Just uninstalled. Moving to phase 4 moved me down a league from the one I recently got promoted from. Played 4 games. First game I won 3-0, didn't deserve it and actually felt sorry for OP, 2nd game 0-0 feel like I should have won that 3-0, 3rd lost 3-0, 3 glitch goals with my defenders falling over each other, 4th lost 2-0 was so frustrated by this point I played like an ar$se and deserved it. I've said I'm done before and this time I really am. Stick your efootball up your ea$rsehole Konami. Enjoy your mobile gaming platform and lets hope one day you treat mobile gamers that you fleece with the same contempt you've treated those console/PC gamers that gave you such a loyal fanbase to make your franchise succesful in the first place.

Licenses are a barrier to entry but for me the trick a newcomer would need to do is create immersion for the player. I really believe you can do this without licenses. Non sports games do it all the time and we immerse ourselves in fake fantasy worlds so why not football. A virtual footballing world where you can lose yourself. You could have a completely fake player database, teams, stadia, kits etc. I'm talking each team with it's own songs from the terraces, stadium music, a depth more like in FM (obviously not to that extreme) where you get the press reports, goal of the season, player interactions, supporters clubs, training facilities etc. You could even develop fake sports brandings for the kits and ad boards. An active modding community to be encouraged and supported but stay away from using official licenses for legalities. It would take time to grow and the investment of course, but if you had the basics right of a very playable footie sim and grow the fake footballing world you would never be bound by licenses and in my opinion would get a following. You'd never get the casual market and I get that licensed teams are part of the immersion. But with enough depth to the footballing world, good realistic gameplay and a healthy community I think with time you could grow it. Commerciality is already ruining football for the real fans and I am seeing a growing number of people supporting local teams and turning their backs on the big ones as they become more disenchanted with the professional footballing world. In other words I don't think it's just esports that true fans are growing tired of. Just think, a true gamers game of football where the pitch is really ours would be the vision. You get past the licensing issue and the only limits are the talent of the development team and their creativity. The realism is in the game and game world you can create, not the licenses. Suppose I can dream!

I only come in here now and then to witness the slow decay of this steaming pile of turd game until its inevitable death

Same here  I to check this thread every few days to see if this steaming pile of turd of a game has improved in some way as I refuse to waste 10 mins playing it but it doesn’t seem like much has changed. I know its a terrible game but I can’t not look at this thread!

We should have all seen it coming really. PES 2020 and 2021 (IMO) are horrible games looking back with hindsight. It was the start of the awkward, slow, stuck-in-mud style vision of PES with its straight, laser guided shooting and presentation which doesn’t look out of place on an Amiga game.

When I play the old PSX and PS2 games they’re so much fun. PES has lacked variety for years now.

Game is done, I don’t even look forward to the annual football game news and releases anymore. The other game will be more of the same old dog crap as well.

sad times but nothing lasts forever and we had some great times with PES and can always go back to the PS2 greats.

If Konami are all about mobile now, & "Selling features", then they could've made all the teams in game available in trial mode with a load of options, sold it for about £7/$10 a pop, and made a good wee amount from it. But that would be the sensible thing to do, which seems to be a foreign concept when it comes to 2020's Konami

Offline vs AI is a decent game now imo.

I've just come back from not looking at this game in a while. I've been one of efootballs biggest critics, I've slated it here many times but I installed the latest updates and I find the gameplay has improved a lot, its not perfect by any means but offline play is now enjoyable imo.

If they release offline leagues modes with all the teams, match balls and ability to extent half times then I would buy it. Hopefully they keep up the improvements.

Has there been word on when offline league modes will arrive?

Yeah, i don't have the same global view of that game as i only played offline. And it was like you said a decent game.
Basic, missing stuffs, and limited in some area like ball physics, but not that awful as i've read.

But with lag and problems related to online gameplay... Not the same game.
Call me a dreamer but i'm waiting some small offline modes to invest myself in the game : as i see pretty good potential on it.
Pretty different than PES 19-21 to play, well you still feel the players weight and football logic / that's what matter the most > they didn't changed their mind about their last game direction(s), even if the result if different and "beta-ish" to me.

Only the R2 run is a game changer, it applies on errors too regarding the timing of passes and shoot.
But i repeat : it's still to me a demo-online-beta-test game in every aspect. Fast remade for fast money 1.0.0 and the others improvement are too small.
So in the current state, even with offline modes i ain't interested to play that thing.

Yeah offline feels more grounded and responsive. Its still basic, 5 min, only one ball, transfers out of whack etc but its an enjoyable play. If they release league modes and I'd like to see more tactics and stuff added then I would definitely purchase those.

This was the trial match mode btw, I haven't played dream team offline or the online modes so can't speak for them.

Isn't it 10 min now?
