eFootball (All Platforms)

There is great russian proverb: Greed destroyed the bastard.

They abandoned PC and console players to milk kids with mobile phones but as a result it was a shot to the knee...
We don't know how successful the mobile version will be yet. They may not have shot themselves in the knee at all.

There is no spring 2022, this is over. I expect dead silence and late end of spring somewhere in May is when i expect official cancellation announcement.

They even delayed the mobile game until spring 2022, they've been hit hard by the fans backlash, so now it's about who can survive the sinking boat with the most money kind of squid game in konami hq right now.

Even Facebook is making fun of them. Oupsie.

As for the 6 month delay. It must be due to the questionnaire
Was thinking the same thing. I hope this is the case and they're finally taking us seriously and doing something about it.

But still would've been better if they've been honest from the start, instead of the same old twatter PR taking people on a "let the game do the talking" bs ride.

But it does the talking.

Think Konami HQ badly needs a Johnson pep talk:

"Just wanted to drop by and say 'Have fun.' Tonight should be a free-fire idea zone. Watch a DVD, eat some pizza, fuck each other. I'm serious. Fuck a chicken if that's what it takes. Watch a chicken fucking a horse. What? You think the guys who invented Google sat around watching Trumpton?"

Since everyone's arm is pointed at the same direction, I thought they were doing a heil Hitler for a split second there.

I played one game post patch, deffo looks better but the input delay is still utterly painful, feels like a full second until the controlled player even considers doing what you asked him to. I never had problems with this in PES.

The delay until spring is amazing in so many ways. They have gone from "f*ck it, we just need to sit back and watch the money come in" to "we are f*cked if we don't do a lot of work on this". As someone said before you can imagine the partner clubs are less than entertained by this mess. They just annonunced that the game will be a demo until next spring. IT IS NOVEMBER 5TH

They probably postponed the release because they realised it wasn't Fools' Day yet, so they postponed it for the 1st of April. Jokes aside, it's clear that the development of the game only started this year (for whatever reasons), so they need at least another year to get something out of it. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce in spring that they will release the full version for mobile only.

Look Konami, get one or two of your 7 or so employees to make a squad and kit update to PES 2021 and release it for free. Actually, you should probably just ditch eFootball all together and get all of them to do it. At least people would have something playable in their hands.

The only thing makes me sad - this happened during PES20 era. PES19 was way better, especially in PvP mode. But as a result PES20 shines 3 years in a row already and PES19 is forgotten :(

Anyone got that Kimura quote when he said that the reason they staggered the release dates (Creative Team update arriving over a month after the game releases) was not because they were behind on schedule but actually because they were ahead? He said that the product they already had was so good that they just decided, "you know what, let's not wait to give everyone the whole package on Nov 11th – let's give them the basic gameplay early, it's that good".

Obviously I'm paraphrasing, but I shit you not, he expresses these sentiments in an interview. I thought it was risible then, and it's just even funnier now.

Edit: found it!

Is it taking a lot of time to adjust the balance?

Kimura: To tell you the truth, we originally planned to release the game in time for the creative team. However, the quality of the matches, including local matches and online battles, has reached a level that we can deliver ahead of schedule, so we decided to release the game ahead of schedule so that people can play it as soon as possible. We hope to gradually add new modes and specifications in the future.

Wow, I was expecting another delay, as 11th November is only a week after this update, but not that long!

I've always said they should delay until it's ready, but although it's the right thing to do, they're only doing it because they have no alternative now, having "released" on the 30th September with a roadmap.

If there was any doubt before, then it's clear they're in serious trouble now.

I only hope the refund of pre-orders timetable ("Please note that this process may take some time to be completed") is more reliable than the release Roadmap! (in the unlikely event anyone here actually did pre-order).

Even if I stopped truly caring a long time ago, I'm still sad to see where this is all going. It does not even looks like it could become a semi decent f2p game, it's just an immense disaster that seems to know no end.

Sorry but at this point I'd truly feel better to see them call it a day and maybe sell assets to somebody else. It has the same taste of that recent, awful Sopranos prequel or of the latest Alien based atrocious movies or of any other franchise I loved that was strangled to squeeze cold profit.

Thinking the same here,

At this point all those official announcements are typical and connected to their own selfish decisions. It's clear that apart from being greedy they don't know what to do with their app, they don't have a vision for it, they don't have a purpose for this game apart from trying to unite the userbase on all platforms and milk the hell out via microtransactions. The entire board, the direction of this project and even the marketing team doesn't have a clue what to do with it and how to make something of it, they have just the final picture in mind on what to expect from it...

Analyzing all their actions and facts, the only decision that could salvage this disaster is to remove completely from stores eFootball like it never existed (especially knowing that was free and all refunds are done). They should release a big update for PES 2021 as Season 2022 copy/pasta for free with transfers, promotions/relegations, all offline modes and reset a new myClub season (to be in touch with all the "crowds"). We're still in November so that could be still viable if they'll act sharp and quickly (sharp kicks included).

If they're still not capable to focus on a next-gen title, it's fine, nobody is dying for it as long as they could improve on PES 2021 foundation to revamp the AI, refine collisions and responsiveness for PES 2023, enhance the smooth play on/off the pitch. Until they'll be in a position to focus their development on a true next-gen game (because it takes lots of money/time to invest), they should improve the game on the "Season Update" as plan B, but instead they're excited for the plan C, that's the Benny Hill way. In the end I don't think they'll take the route B, cos that would be too good and smart...

...but knowing Konami even as a copy/pasta update this would be too good to be true...

I dropped into the Spoony stream of him playing 0.9.1. He was generally positive, saying it's gone from a 1/10 experience to a 6/10 one. Said it was probably not better than FIFA, but much closer now.

Inclined to think that's all fanboy bollocks, frankly. I think he's got a pretty skewed sense of what is good in a PES game.

This is the same person who said that the crowd in the test build he played looked "the best it's ever been in a PES game". Other reviewers pointed out the crowd looked pretty bad. We all got to see who was right.

Has there been a worse release in gaming history? Genuine question. I didn't download the game but the list of fixes (and things which are still issues) is legitimately jaw dropping. How on earth have they allowed a game that broken be released? It's an absolute shambles, I actually cannot believe just how horrible this whole thing has been 😂

Anthem, No Man's Sky (eventually recovered), Marvel's Avengers, Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, Battlefront 2, WWE 2K20, Final Fantasy XIV (before it got good after a complete do-over).

There have been plenty of shockers.

As someone said, I think they probably had to release something as a requirement from partner club licenses like Barca or Bayern.

The issues they have scream development hell and several reboots during the process, like devs are struggling with Unreal Engine… I bet the initial vision and intention was different, and closer to the Messi teaser, they just are not capable of doing it.

They simply abandoned PES 2022 next gen and started with eFootball mobile based game last year because of Kimura
They should cancel and revert back to the Messi teaser game
Also, what’s this Kimura thinking, should be fired actually, especially bringing the whole company in trouble like never seen before
