eFootball (All Platforms)

However, thanks to the forum, I got to know that there was a bug in button configurations with the "Match Up" button. I went back to default and gave it another go. Played the game a few more hours, both against CPU and local 1v1 games.

What bug are you talking about here?

IIRC if you change the button config from default, that control doesn't get remapped (or disappears completely, I can't remember now).
It's already been acknowledged by Konami and I think they'll fix it sooner or later.

I don't know if it is a common problem, but I downloaded (twice) the game and it doesn't start ! I get the small first time setup screen, but then nothing happens. Does anyone else have the same problem and managed to find a solution ?

The reason efootball is so bad is because the developer behind the fox engine (PES 2021 engine) Kojima Productions split with Konami and it therefore could not be recreated for PS5 etc due simply to lack of knowledge carrying Fox forward . Therefore it had to be done in unreal engine #efootball #pes2021 according to Japanese website :

Your seeing a cluster fook now for said reason!
This would explain why the game launched as bad as it did. The problem now is I just can't envision them being capable of making any significant fixes or improvements anytime this year, let alone this month.

they need the fox developers back but Konami and the production co fell out. They need to do fox for next gen does not look like happening hence cluster bollock of a game that may take years. Hence I think they may make this a long termer

@spamula i answer here to your last question "why we found it so bad etc."

Firstly,
Because it's unfinished and too much bugs first. We don't even know if it will be rectify. Then we see how the gameplay (supposed to be upgraded too) will be, with some elements.
I don't thrust all they said, but for that i don't think Kimura is lying, he just can't lie at this state. Now how important the changes will be is the question.

Then how it happened is the past. And we shoud stop to try to found the "why" Efootball is on that state : it won't resolve at all the problem.
What i see, is that it caused some clashs and very bad ambiance, some where called liar etc., i was affected and i affected people too. I already said it
So please, for the last time, i beg you to stop to talk about what happened in the past. I just said what i learned during my time at Pesuniverse in contact with people working under Konami as Data Editor, that's all. I make speculations too but it's separate from what i said on another thread.

But well, we don't live in the past. And founding why the game is like a 6 months game won't resolve what we have to deal with now. It will only cause clash between members, already pissed of what they've got to play, or sad of what has disappeared, and frustrated because we have no idea about the future.
It can be resolved, it can be dead, we have no clue at all.

Also, we said "what they need to do..." but first is to debugg the game fully, in every part, and add gameplay and tactical parts missing. That's their plans whatsoever.

I have the same issue on my laptop which does not have a AMD/Nvidia GPU. It disrupted my modding testing on eFootball 2022.

Did your thread about this get deleted?

IMO, there's no surprise here or cause for outrage.

I always assumed that the move to Unreal was so they didn't have to maintain Fox in the future.
Maintaining your own engine is a lot of works (have to add support for latest hardware, keep up with new algorithms, etc). It's just technical debt.
The migration was not for any technical improvements now, since Fox is still pretty good at the moment (e.g. MGS5 and PES21 look great), which is why I was puzzled at how excited people were about the migration at the time.

I don't believe that Konami would maintain Fox even if those engineers had remained. I don't buy that the current engineers couldn't add PS5 support for Fox either. Though if that's true, it may just speak to how poorly documented and written Fox is.

Using Unreal (or another compatible off-the-shelf engine) is just a good idea, and lets the team focus on the actual game code.

Hi my friend, i hope you're doing well.
About mods and players I don't know about the rest (without having Editing mode, it's very very hard to found stuffs in player.bin) but one thing is sure for the moment : they didn't even changed the face parameters. Perhaps some added, but i checked minifaces on new players : it's exactly the same. Just my 2 cents. Also, stats range is pretty different, so will be the overall calculation. Perhaps "Skills" or Form will finally be took in account. Also, the limitations are completely different that what i've sended to you that previous PES.
That's all i noticed. One stat in more, Defensive Engagement (well, it's like to replace the double pressing button... Automatic pressing regarding the player Defensive Engagement)

Does someone know how to change the team once you have played the Worlwide Clubs? I played with FC Bayern the first time and now I'm stucked with them...

Yeah i took Celtic then found out i couldn't change my team and i've had a few beatings after being paired up against PSG most of the time, i've now uninstalled the game and am in the process of reinstalling it , i'll get back to you and let you know if that works.

Oooooh yes, that’s not a problem, it’s the freaking solution!!! :WOOT:

thank you so much. I’m downloading.

;)

Interesting article from Japan given all PES games used fox in recent years with Kojima Devs. Now these Kojima Devs are not around. Thread or no thread I don't care lol.

This is huge news and it explains why this game feels like an entirely new game, and not one built upon another almost-perfect game. Just look at the tactics. These are tactics of a game that has been completely reset. Same for the ball physics, they're bad because they never ported it from last year, they just made it from scratch.

So probably fixing the gameplay and other stuffs will not be soon

Don't know if the article confirms it for a fact but it was obvious the old engine could not support any new hardware the moment it arrived. They basically could not release the next game on new hardware and hyped the engine switch as some big ambitious thing. There was no such ambition. It was just an "oh shit, the new consoles are here, what are we going to do" thing. Otherwise they would happily churn out the same yearly crap in an aging fox engine, until he end of time.

Quoting myself from back in June:

Basically not a choice. The only game left using the FOX engine was PES. They can't/won't keep updating their engine for next gen just for one game, so it's a straightforward decision really, just use the leading engine. FOX was probably just a dead end ever since Kojima left and Konami stopped developing most of their franchises.

According to what was published in the tweet, on Thursday 7 October a "hot fix" should arrive, a patch that fixes the most obvious flaws affecting the title.

Subsequently, however, on Thursday 14 October, a real update would arrive that would bring with it new elements to the gaming experience and / or to the visual aspect.

Obviously this is not official news but Renan Galvani is a very reliable influencer as you should already know.

the point is FOX was used for PS4 primarily , this prop. software have been owned by Konami. But now it is likely the old devs that did fox are with Kojima and not Konami and therefore fox cant be updated. Saving grace is Kojima and Sony are working with Konami following an agreement brokered by Sony for Silent Hill so its possible Konami may get some help should they need it and a fee is paid lol. I'm just sumising, but its more likely now

Or it could be that there on devs currently at Konami are making progress with code, not that we have seen it so far lol. Embarrassing for Konami and frustrating for us given we have nothing new gen to play Pes wise in reality

They should have to paid them like if it's a different production like they did with Havok for 2015 etc.
But didn't Kojima left on 2013? I don't understand at all. Kojima Production was created perhaps 2 years after his departure.

This is clearly evident. It has been for a long time.

Pes only used fox assets and there’s no reason they could’nt upscale the technology used on the older platforms and modify it further.Games are built on powerful PC’s.This is purely a commercial decision not one based on compatibility or skill set with technology which is no different now then it was when they first started using it.I would also go as far as to say pes already used a lot of pre-existing technology used on older pes games and the fox assets were more graphics related.

There’s really is no sentimentality in business.Konami aren’t interested in making big budget single player games anymore. There business model and output has changed.
