eFootball (All Platforms)

+1 when using sprint button before receiving the ball you got so much freedom and with a little training its really good with strong players to dribble. I really like the reaction time of the defender to my dribblings, really realistic.
Only thing that is bad is the overall shooting power, even with power bar to yellow the shooting doesnt feel strong. With Gameplay +2 its way more realistic but gamespeed becomes way too fast

I spent a bit more time with the "experience" last night..
Some excellent points I forgot to bring up too. If you're going to 1v1 defending you better make sure the player switching & defender wake up are on point otherwise you're just powerless to defend against the most basic of attacks and end up conceding frustratingly sloppy goals because the mechanics let you down.

Some of the 1v1 stuff is kind of fun and turns into a little contest in of itself, I've made some really fun surprising last ditch tackles that totally saved my teams arse & there's some new animations in there that are truly fantatsic.

Yes it's annoying that our muscle and memory & understanding of football works against us in this regard especially when you're holding a player up and you just need your 2nd defender to back you up and soak the cornered attacker up but it is what it is.

Another review: https://screenrant.com/efootball-2022-review/

Konami really shot themselves in the foot by failing to call this a beta or demo explicitly (or demo-like experience /s)

Outlets will treat it as a full release and gauge it appropriately by what we expect of those standards.

That said, even for a beta or demo, this build would merit incessant laughter.
spot on summary that fits the current situation, imo!
Ultimately, eFootball 2022 is a disaster at launch. It's a buggy, unenjoyable mess with limited gameplay options that strip back the core strengths of the PES series, and the fact that it was released in this state at all is shocking. Konami may bring in fixes as it implements further free-to-play updates, but even then, the question over eFootball 2022's worth will still need to be repeatedly asked.

and in november Konami will release a overall new V1.00 EFootball 2022 out of nowhere and without any announcement days before, like they are doing their DLC Update for 2020 and 2021. DLCs are coming suddently from one day to another

I looked at what my ai teammates did when I used a defender to cut off passing channels rather than going for the opposition player with the ball. Sadly my ai teamates stayed well away from the ball, backing off, leaving the opposition player no reason to pass due to the parting of the Red Sea before him.

Another ai issue I came across was when I took a corner. After I took the corner kick, the ball was headed back out to where the corner taker still should have been (somewhere in line with the opposition box). Unfortunately, instead of staying in that position like what happens in real football and on all previous PES versions, he had legged it back full pelt towards my own half. So the ball went out for a throw in instead.

Oh, and one more ai issue. When they scored on one occasion, their celebration involved them all running into the advertising hoardings for about a minute before going to the replay of their goal.

So since Jon Murphy is coming back to game development (with Activision Blizzard though, so – ugh – can't get too excited), people have offered their congratulations on Twitter. This question and reply made me laugh. Savage.

this message made me subscribe to Jon plus leaving a heart! so there is good coming from a bad situation! :)

I dont even care about player faces, or even crowd ...

But gameplay, graphic and animations during game is what's my problem with this game ....

I feel like I'm learning to walk all over again with the RT/R2 sprint button.
I will often run out of bounds, specially at goal line when trying to square up for a cross.

Those are on me, I assume--gotta learn the right pressure to apply to the trigger (which has been some fun, I like learning new schemes).

But I also often see players, both my own's and the AI's, simply "lose the ball while dribbling. There, I'm not sure whether the blame lies on me or on the game's physics.

There should be a Party Animal stat. May turn up to matches hungover, put on weight or in the extreme, get arrested by acting like a complete twisted c*nt thinking two No's means Yes...
This reminds me of a certain game's cover star...

Kimura said that this project has been in development for 2 years, I can't believe Konami made a next-gen game and discarded it.

“We started planning this move roughly two years ago to coincide with the console generation transition and changes in the market environment. I believe that we have already proven that this structure can be successful on mobile. By applying the same model across all platforms, we hope that more football fans will be able to play this game on consoles as well.” - Kimura

Right. I believe that this is what they were working on, in some capacity or for some portion of their development budget, over two years. And that's just a further indictment of the product/service.

I was away for the weekend and largely out of touch, save for some on-the-road retro.

Coming back rested and refreshed I thought I'd dabble in both new games with fresher eyes.

I did the unthinkable with (tee-he)eFootball: I played online. Since it became technologically possible I think I've played a stranger online about five times. But there's fuck all else to do with the game.

When I was little I used to laugh at my parents as - whenever they'd humour me and take part in a two-player game - they would raise and lower and wave the pad as if it gave them extra power, unable to comprehend that all the running and jumping was merely the subtle, casual pressing of buttons.

Fast forward nearly 30 years and here's me doing the same. I was wrestling the controller so much that I was half-expecting Earl Hebner to show up. You don't play eFootball, it plays you. I felt sorry for my opponent (as well as myself) because the game abandons you and your attempts to play football. Pass receivers switching off and letting the ball roll out of play is one of the biggest crimes, and that's on top of the preposterously sluggish ordeal that is playing a pass to begin with.

If you're going to 1v1 defending you better make sure the player switching & defender wake up are on point otherwise you're just powerless to defend against the most basic of attacks and end up conceding frustratingly sloppy goals because the mechanics let you down.

A bazillion times this. The player you switch to is almost always on their heels and/or facing the wrong way. By the time they're under control they're redundant as you've switched to the next corpse. Rinse and repeat... Your best form of defence is the game's incompetence in attack, waiting for it to screw your opponent over with an especially snail-like pass or abandonment of the ball.

I won 1-0 but we both lost for bothering. It's almost certain my opponent felt the same frustrations as I did as it was evident he was struggling with the same issues.

Usually I can see why people like a game even if I don't. Not here. Even though I do see some signs of life, so what. They mean nothing in the wider context when so many whopping flaws make it unplayable.

The game's gone, but I'm sticking around for the fallout!

I'm starting to learning the use of R2 with slowing down and bursting and with quick tap to throw the ball into a direction.|
I managed to pass through 3 defenders with Neymar with this skills, with a lot of sweat., so rewarding.
Pure soccer magic, straight from reality.
I haven't felt so ecstatic and overwhelmed for a game since FIFA 11 for PC.
Really can't wait to see how this game will evolve.
For the historical amount of shit we're throwing at it, we all want the same thing mate, this game to evolve into a masterpiece. We're rightly skeptical but we'll all be thoroughly delighted if we're wrong.
