eFootball (All Platforms)

Because they want to release regular updates, so they can say that they are releasing regular updates. If they release today's version, they will have fewer updates to release.
But they should have predicted the impact of this version on game image

Why do the madmen who see good in the game only come out in the middle of the night?

After a couple of days with the PC version (expanded) I've got to walk back some of my initial enthusiasm for all but the direction, at least, that eFootball seems to be pointing in.

This Alpha is bad and must be patched asap, or even withdrawn, and let's just wait until November or January or whatever the real release date is.

I was a PES2014 demo lover, but cooled on the full game there and didn't play it until its last patch of the year, when it was a decent game with plenty of good ideas – and it's right there, in that space (patched PES2014) that eFootball, surprisingly, seemed to be pitching its tent when I played it on Thurs/Fri. I was just thrilled that it wasn't the cheap coin-op arcadefest that we mostly anticipated.

A few 15-minute matches with a few teams from the lower leagues doesn't play much different from the Man U-Barca types of games. There's no oomph in shooting (another unfortunate PES2014 trait). Passing is too unpredictable, and the glitches stop being amusing (and occasional) after a while. So I eat my words, chomp-chomp. I do think there's a massive danger that the community reaction will produce an overreaction from Konami though, and we will end up with the feared arcade-em-up mobile PES that we were all expecting.

Physicality and fouls in football gaming I will never give up on. eFootball surprised me, at least, with that aspect of the game (included by accident as a byproduct of bugs, many will say, but I think not).

It enhances the experience so much to have fouls and consequences for reckless physicality, that when they're lacking, it robs the game of a vital dimension. After a lot of time with FIFA22 now it's the one thing missing from that package that would pretty much end the footy game wars.
The first thing I did on Thursday morning was check on this forum and it was getting slated. Then I checked Spoony’s livestream & he was slating it. I downloaded it and tried & although it’s a mess I’ve played it cause I won’t buy FIFA 22. I play on custom cam 0-5-0 so it’s zoomed out far & I don’t take notice of the fans & I don’t examine replays. I’ve been trying to get use to the new defence mechanisms. I agree this version should never have been released but on my PS5 via a 4K tv it’s playable. A friend messaged me & he’d not looked on forums & he never slagged it after playing it - he just he wasn’t sure of the direction it’s going. I also fear that by asking for fan feedback now they’ll move to more arcade based game. They should just supersede this build with the September build that was previewed by various gamers.

The apology is just as disingenuous.

"We have received lots of feedback.." Don't act like it came as a surprise. They knew full well what they were releasing was an unstable and unacceptable state and simply wasn't ready. But they did it anyway. I'm sure they're not THAT stupid to not now this was going to end shamefully.

It reminds me so much of Cyberpunk and WWE 2K20, Games which also of course released anyway knowing full well it was an unacceptable standard.

My question however is, What happened to the strict quality assurance and testing of Sony & Microsoft? Didn't they have to approve the quality of something before they authorise it's release? Or am I missing something here?
People mistake this for what it really is. Platform holders QA and testing are not for the quality of the game itself but to check if it runs without serious crashes/bugs or causes harms to the hardware itself. That's all that it is, it has nothing to do with the quality of the software itself. Cyberpunk didn't get pulled because it didn't meet platforms holders' QA, it was pulled because people started requesting refunds at an unprecedented rate and Sony wasn't gonna put up with it. It was never pulled from the Microsoft store.

The people they are targeting now are not those who actually care about playing video game football. They are targeting people who want to win at all costs, and by costs I mean buying some players to have an easier time winning. They could not give two shits if some old boys feel the game has gone down the shitter as they were always making minimal money from us. They can extract every detail about people who play their game, they know where the money is and their focus is now on profit and profit alone.

It could takes 1 month for a demo to be "releasable" due to Q/A and stuff to sign, but July... Please, i don't get it. 3 months.

From what i know, they said to Barry than on on middle July, all the team will be fully focused on the next version (they didn't told him that it was Efootball)
Well it's from the 18 July from the cpk no? > "Half july" they said....
Note: it was after the very last DLC they got that conversation, which came late in June.

No joke, no lie at all, i swear on everything. You're really playing the skeleton of the game right now if Konami schedule.

@Durandil67 confirmed it's July version

He found this date in a sound file, it's quite a leap to say the whole build was compiled at that date, it could just be the last time that sound file was created/modified. The different build cope will just never die. As the Next-Gen Blog guy said, the Windsor build had little difference with what was released, people need to accept this is the game. Why would they be scrambling to work on an update and making questionnaires if this stuff was already fixed/improved, they'd just say that and tell people to wait for the update that is already coming.

Also what this means is the roadmap is completely out of the window, because now the developers are having to work on fixing the game and resolving user complaints rather than working on new content, which is typical of "live service" games and was the outcome predicted by many in advance.

The gameplay of the beta didn't have such problems

Well, he found a date on a sound file only and judge from it? Sound can be build a year before, not a problem.
And it's not possible to found dates on others files than sounds?

@Durandil67 ??

That pile of poo is what they've been working on for 2 years. No one cares if it's 1 month old or something. Just take that into account and check back in 7 years to see if it's any better, for the PS6 launch. And that's assuming you're into e-sports cause otherwise it's completely dead.

Innovation is one thing. Destroying the soul of a much-loved game series is another.

Those of us who criticize the new game, I don't think we're against innovation at all, IF it respects the soul of the series.

But this new direction is a lack of respect for those of us who love the offline PES experience. Now that I'm going back and playing PES 2011 and 2013, and seeing how detailed and satisfying the offline modes were, this new "e-direction" nonsense does nothing but ignore the foundations of what many of us love about PES in the first place.

Long live Winning Eleven and PES! :TU:

Well i got enough of it. I will try to keep in touch but to me, the game doesn't already exist.

-They failed their entry > most of people won't care about upgrades. Failure.
-Don't have a clue how the game will be in the future, on the pitch
-How many time before it will be "debugged"
-Don't care about what Windsor guys said
-No clue about how it will be off the pitch, edit mode, etc.

Mobile based is the current situation. Can it be changed in the future? Separation of NG, Mobile and Current.
Or the game will totally disappear in let's say 2 years from now, that's my prediction.
Or it will be like P.T. demo, still downloadable for those who have ddl it on the past, but completely abandoned.
No idea about the last part. But talking and checking every day, chasing a ghost...

Retro to me i will stick to my first choice, goodbye action-football games like PES. Already pissed that there's no way to build a Bundes until the contrary, neither J-League from what i saw about the team available... And i got hard to thrust a "create a team/league" added : online focused. No Q/A in the famous questionnary about creation.
Bundes was my minimum required in terms of leagues, one of my standard for offline.

Sad thing for me is that CEO, marketing expert, wall street wannabe whoever made decision to make this mobile game is now probably enjoying his bonuses for incredible idea to do this ECrap ... like he is some kind of visionary

The bottom line is that the game is a shambles and Konami and even some members of the gaming community are using the excuse that it’s free to play to justify lazy development. This game has NOT been built from the ground up as we have been led to believe. Like @Marlon Anthony has already stated they knew exactly what they were releasing.

I swear every year there's something. Every year without fail. It's like Groundhog Day.

Well not excactly like you, but it was about editing and all especially. I like overally the 3 last version (2020 less, 2021 more).
I feel like Bill Murray. For other reasons but well.
Now it's time to end up that waiting infernal loop. I won't wait.
I'll see later, but sincerely don't want to ear things about it.
Probably will try it and remind the real release date (11 november? I will remember it as it's holiday of the 40-45 war ended, in Belgium)
Ftm i put it in an artificial coma.

I’m just not interested in supporting Konami going forward…..no matter what this turns in to I’m done with any game they produce,
incuding epesalphabetatestlikedemo 2022 and anything football related in the future. The utter contempt shown to the customer base is borderline vile……there are plenty of other game developers I would rather invest my money in.

It could be also from June 2021

Whether this from an old build or not is irrelevant. No one is buying that old build bullshit excuse from Adam Bhatti and his co anymore. The damage has been done and they know exactly what abomination they released to the public. It would take years to undo all the damaged they have caused. If I were them I would scrap this e-whatevergame and go back to PES and create a proper next gen football game if they still care for this franchise. Also FIRE ADAM BHATTI it would do them good.

But if this build is 3 month old, what can they fix in months ... whole game is broken, they need at least 5 years if they cut cross-platform-mobile bu**shit right now.

To spend soo much time taking licences from FIFA, build game on Fox Engine step-by-step, taking good reviews year-after-year too end up with this ???!!

When they dont show you gameplay and start talking about "whole new level", "experience", "platforms", "service" .... you know path - not just this game, but any game.
