eFootball (All Platforms)

The game is a mess when It comes to feeling in controle of the game, wich for me has nothing to do with making It more arcadey, limited and ugly.

They can preserve the same animations, and movements, but making the animations quicker without having to cut any frame, Just quicker with better imput and thats It! Its done!

The New defend mechanism should also be kept. It also suffer from the same issue of not feeling under controle.

They can make a Very good football game. But I understand the rate and frustration. We are close to octuber when we usualy have a Full game in much better state. Its Crazy what they released. I Just dont want them to bê confused with so much negativity to the point where they cancel everything good.

To sum up better, the reason why I am somewhat happy and hopeful is that It feels fresh to me even tho its on a complete shit state.
The physical part of the game is unfinished. Players bumping into each other's invisible walls, players leaving the ball completely unaware of it when pressing the shield button, players decelerating when an opposing player draws closer even though they're not in contact with them yet, players randomly stopping unresponsively sometimes, etc. Not to mention the many hilarious FIFA'esque animation bugs too.

They also feel too heavy, too weighty, too slow. I had to put game speed on +2 but it's still unresponsive. Dribbling past players doesn't feel as satisfying when you're trying a simple wrong footing move. They perfectly mimic your movement when there should be a slight delay in their movement so you can trick them. It's like I'm moving them and my player at the same time.

There's obviously a good game buried under there as usual with PES, but Konami have really f'd up with this one. We're playing version 0.9 which obviously means it's unfinished, but they never told us that. At the very least call it an early beta so people have certain expectations and know what they're getting.

Also, the first game we're forced to play is a long 10-15 min game, but then every game after that is locked to 5 mins? What gives? I think fouls are borked as well.

This game needs a lot of work still.

At the very least let us play longer 10-15 min games fgs. I'd still rather play this than play FIFA. I tried that game and just couldn't.

Here's the reason for their 'apology':

They thought they can get away with using the 'already in Unreal' mobile version of the game as a base for the new release, instead of doing the serious legwork required to rewrite the console version to work in Unreal. Just fire the visionary responsible for this horrible decision.

What was the name of the lead developer who left the game mid-development?
Yeaaaaa that'll do it. Goodness.

I scored a lovely lob last night with felt completely new in all ways. Fresh animations, smooth etc.

I have come to understand that the game wants you to sometimes let go of the controls almost and then decide which action you should take (burst, dribble, pass, tackle etc). Also, I recommend to get the hang of LS + X when defending, it can get you some nice counter attacks when winning the ball in the midfield and there are more midfield battles because of this.

With that said, the game is so unfinished that all of the above doesn't mean much overall. This should have been released as a alpha demo in July or something. Even if Konami somehow manage to make the game playable in a couple of months (which I doubt) people will have forgotten it by then. It's beyond stupid to have done what they did with this release. I mean EVEN IF they were so sure that they had a brilliant game in later builds they must have understood that releasing a game in this state, free or not, would have caused this?!

This shit has the potential to be better than all the fox versions, I see that by improving my control over the game.
However it needs a lot of work.
The big defect of PES (FOX 2014/2021) is that whoever is more predictable wins, you don't need to be a professional to know that the more unpredictable the team/player is, the greater the chances of winning, the efootball starts to change that. If Konami DOESN'T listen to the feedbacks (Yes, the feedback from fans spoils the game, just see that with each update the game gets worse, it's valid for all PES), and continue on this path will make this current shit the best PES in years.

Fire the lead. Fire whoever OK'd it. Fire whoever was ok with all this and said nothing. They're all in it and responsible for all this mess.

Typical Efootball fanboy 😁

Well, now that I think of it, they are just creating the first world's massive alpha test in the videogaming history. Launched a game in it's first stage of development, made it free so everyone tests it, and now they want feedback to improve it and know what type of game this will be for the final version.
They were doing this for the last years, but before we had to pay to "test" it.

Not sure if you are serious or not, but if you are - you are seeing much more than there actually is to see.
They released FTP half arsed game because they dont care about quality anymore, just downloads and milking as many players as they can.
If it was a test and they cared about feedback - they wouldnt lock offline at 5mins and they wouldnt sell packs before the game was even out.
It would also require some planning, which is something Konami just isnt capable anymore.
Also - we didnt have to pay for the tests in the past. There were demos and demos were free.
And they never addressed any feedback.
Player-Ball Awareness issues and broken referees were there for years.

Pretty sure xicpanad was being sarcastic.

Dscru hit the nail on the head a couple of pages back about the only feedback Koinami are interested in:
Can't wait to fill in these incoming questionnaires asking about microtransactions/surprise gameplay mechanics, card collecting mini games, and what's our favourite legend we'd like to see in eFootball.

I would imagine if the feedback hasn't been received from a mobile device, it'll be auto-deleted by their server.

But yeah, his competence regarding what is happening with the PES series and Konami is very basic, he is not familiar with the whole situation since PES 2020, the bad thing is that there really is no good video from the very beginning and to explain the mess that Konami created.

Button scheme is a mess:
-Pressing R1 before shooting -> Controlled shot
-Pressing R1 after shooting -> Cancel shot

Way to difficult to adapt!

One more thing.
L2 has to be removed completed/nerfed a lot.
When attacking, L2 (manual shielding) is a precanned silly animation executed no matter if a defender is close or not. Contextual shielding like pes2021 was way more sensible.
When defending , (physical defending) should be renamed to "intentional foul" , it not at all manual, and causes the majority of animation/physics glitches.

You can defend effectively with the cross button (matching up, and blocking passes) , with the square (standing tackle) and the circle (sliding tackle).

Played a couple of matches more with the Steam version (with AFC Champios League teams, 15 minute matches, fuma controls and top player difficulty).
The "good" in this game is definitely there. Players having more weight to them is what I like the most of this game. The ball being less glued to the players' feet is another (at least when it's still at the players' feet, more on that later).

Of course there's a lot of things that I don't like.
Visual gluitches everywhere (white pitch like it happens in some wrongly configured Sider stadiums, flashes of light, shadows disappearing randomly)...
Gameplay wise, well... While the ball is travelling, meh, often it feels that it goes to a place because it's expected to go there and not because the player hit it in a way that would allow it to go there. I mean, often the ball trajectory isn't consistent with the way the player has struck it.
Every other goal I concede is from a rebound it looks, because my defenders can't track their attackers properly so there's often one of them free in front of the goalmouth. This happens also the other way round, see this video. I mean, putting a through pass like that on the flank and managing to send a cross in is satisfying indeed... But the awareness of players is so bad that no one cares about my forward (don't consider me not scoring, please, I'm poor at shooting). You know what? This alone killed all the satisfaction.

I don't know what to think about it. It feels like one step forward and three steps back right now... But I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt.

It is very rare that I play a game that literally had no redeeming features but Konami have managed to join that very select band of games that are so bad that they have no redeeming features.

This is a cynical release of a game, they are selling packs for a game that is fundementally broken and there will be children who do not know any better who will end up spending money on this. Shame on you Konami, shame on you. It is an insult to everyone who has supported you over the last 25 years.

I totally agree with this. This is my biggest fear. THIS ruined the hype i’ve had after the 2020 DEMO.

I honestly can't wait for the mobile release so everyone can finally see the sad truth behind all of this. It's not gonna be improved beyond mobile level, specially the AI. It's an undeniable fact and a dirty move from Konami. I hope they fail miserably for being so dishonest with the fans of the series.

Why do the madmen who see good in the game only come out in the middle of the night?
I am one of those melodramatic foo... Oh wait, it's just habit. Please don't mind me singing.

I am one of those that somehow see some good in this release. I intended to post this review in the middle of the night indeed but I fell asleep unfortunately, that's why I posted it now.

Jokes apart, probably I just forgot to take my rose tinted glasses off. Football games by Konami used to be so good that now I'm heartbroken to see how the current situation is and I do truly want this game to be saved, one way or another.
So I'm holding on to whatever acceptable I see in this game and I'm hoping they use it as a base to build upon. I know it would probably never happen, but... Hey, hope always dies last we say in Italy.

Shielding the ball is L2. You mean L2 right?

You can't do anything truly next-gen with the gameplay/physics as long as the thing needs to run on and be cross-play with mobile phones.

Whatever they might work on/improve over the coming months/years, they can never turn this into something befitting of a PS5/XBSX.

I still don't enjoy FIFA, and don't think they've done anything truly ambitious on next-gen yet despite their boasts/bullshit (primarily "Hypermotion") but I can't imagine that being able to run on mobiles.

The player collisions + their animations and outcomes are more canned/scripted on eFootball than even FIFA 11's first try at "Impact Engine" on 360/PS3.

It's a joke this is the state football games are in in 2021, and an even bigger joke that anyone (spending £400 on a console and wanting a simulation) is satisfied with either of them. Our standards must be at an all-time low and desperation at an all-time peak.

The apology is just as disingenuous.

"We have received lots of feedback.." Don't act like it came as a surprise. They knew full well what they were releasing was an unstable and unacceptable state and simply wasn't ready. But they did it anyway. I'm sure they're not THAT stupid to not now this was going to end shamefully.

It reminds me so much of Cyberpunk and WWE 2K20, Games which also of course released anyway knowing full well it was an unacceptable standard.

My question however is, What happened to the strict quality assurance and testing of Sony & Microsoft? Didn't they have to approve the quality of something before they authorise it's release? Or am I missing something here?
