SO I played my first match. For a free game, Im not sure I agree with all the complaints. Like if this wasnt Konami, not sure it would be getting ripped. I do see some horrible things, that can be fixed. I also saw things that were awesome. Maybe its just me but I do not recall at PES game where you had so much control over the player receiving a pass. If I pass to messi, he is immediately super responsive and will win every ball cause you can sprint right away and have complete control. In older PES's including 2021, your only had control once you received the pass, not before... this is a great new feature. I can see this being a good base and I consider this a alpha release.

Apart from the shocking, unfinished pre-alpha quality of this mobile thing, one of the most dismaying things for me is that some of the worst aspects of the recent PES DNA is still so evident in this.

Typical example - clean through on goal, I press shoot, inexplicably nothing happens, this allows the cpu defender to catch me inside the box and barge me to the ground...no penalty given. Foul system NOT fixed. Cheat system still fully operational.

And I think it's safe to say that this same cheat system will be deployed online to ensure pay-to-win users are rewarded with the momentum script on their side as Konami need to ensure no payments = you lose.

7 hours in, game has no soul.
Everything that was the unique selling point to me and why I even play PES on the worst years is clinging on to those beautiful realistically calculated moments.

Seeing players just glide or have predetermined paths or just teleport to places just to have the ''action'' still happen is just abysmal.

With lots of polish this might be a great esports / skillgap game where it is just clear how the game ''works''
and that is what it is, it doesnt try to be a football sandbox in a sense which i really feel like the latest pes games are trying to be even with a lot of flaws. But this is like going back 10/20 years and we are back to the on string football.

The mechanics on this on string football game are pretty clear and refreshing, but the unique selling point pes had is completely obliterated or just put on 5% as if mobile cant handle it or something. Have won so many matches and shot so many shots and not a single goal i was like YES BUDDY!, the trajectories constantly replicate themselves, Theres a very simplified shooting error system in terms of how you stand or wind up your shot (I mean, you cant wind up shit anymore) So its just a laser while physics are baloony and constantly go the same directions. Every player having the same finesse shot animation also doesnt help, plus its back to the old days of just leg chop finesse shots, lifeless, soulless, no feel at all

Im so fricking saddened about it, I know we all have different takes of what a football game should be, and what I feel why I played a lot again since the good old PES5/PES6 days in the recent years is because atleast they (in my opinion) went in that path again, and @The_Knight simply double confirmed it with his realism videos on all these elements i thought were nice to beautifully executed with the freedom lying in the simulation.

Its completely a clearcut videogame now, and a bad one. Hate it
Im telling you, this is 1% of the other games of the recent years in terms of what they simulate im not even kidding, I know a lot of folks hate the latter year games and everybody comes from a different place... But this is from my PES journey and this... aint... it...

its a shame what pes has come to but with numbers like this its pretty clear who they are targeting with their games now
Total revenue for fiscal year ending March 31, 2021 was ¥272,656 billion ($2.48 billion), a 3.7% increase on last year's figure. Operating profits came in at ¥36,550 billion ($333 million), an 18% increase year-over-year.
Konami's profit is carried by digital entertainment, with ¥204,185 billion ($1.86 billion) of total revenue generated from this segment. That's a 33% increase from the previous year's figure of ¥153,395 billion ($1.4 billion).
Mobile titles continued to be a top source of revenue, with titles such as the mobile version of eFootball PES 2021 and Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links leading the way internationally.

I tried a few games and really tried to like it. But the game looks so poor. Normally I am not a graphics man, but this looks like a mobile game and I'm playing this on a freakin ps5!!!
The turf looks like typical ps2 textures. Also the LOD distance is messed up. You can clearly see that the details of the players degrade as soon as the camera zooms out.
Full of bugs!
This is a mess, a big mess. How could this have been released. This must be the biggest disaster in gaming history? At least what I've ever encountered.

On PS4 it legit looks a PS2 game, everything is blurred and pixelated.
And PC looks like PS3. It's ridiculous.
This Pes 2022 is a demo practically
A demo is supposed to be a teaser of the final release version of a game. This is not that. That's absolutely no reason this build should've been released to the public.

Remember when whatshisface Kimura or whatever was asked if on September 30th they would be releasing a Demo and he replied with something like:
In many ways, yes.

I remember because it struck me as odd -such an unprofessional reply- and I quoted that part in this Thread.
But this is not even a Demo. It's more like an early Alpha build.
And they expect us to play it like this all the way through to November 11.

The only way this system would work if they could continue to release updates as soon as they're ready. Like, every two weeks, boom! an update.
Even if these updates only address small bug fixes and then every now and then a big update with new features and stuff.

But imagine having to wait 1 month and 12 days (from September 30th to November 11) for an update only to find out there are still many big issues happening (I'm not talking about personal preferences regarding gameplay or menu colors here, but about very evident problems). And then having to wait another month for a new one trying to fix the bugs they couldn't fix in the previous one... All the talks and images about the eFOOTBALL ROADMAP: This is the roadmap for product suicide.

In the end doesn't matter what "plans" they have. The only method that can really hurt them at their core is acting with ignorance:

Uninstall eFootball ---> delete it from library ---> send them a clear message that this trash is not a game ---> forget about their existence and move on.

Everybody should act in the same way as they've acted with our feedback in the past. "Ignorance is bliss, my friend..."

They will not make money on mobile if this is the game (and it is, they spent >2 years on this, they not gonna fix it in a month)

Even mobile players will go away, because brand is downgraded to mariana trench level.

They should simply say they are leaving non-mobile platforms and that be the end.

So after playing some games with 10 or 15 minutes (with the unlock mod) I know, I know it roumors befor but the gameplay is full with scripts like last year and the year befor, and the other year befor too. Ah and the year befor the other year.

Oh dear eKonami...

But yea, it isn't a football game anymore. It is a card or something similiar to eMyeClub crap collecting game. Who need football for microtransactions. 💩

Ok it now makes a bit more sense with some of the Charachter models for the stars…..as an example a latest insider Konami leak confirmed they blew the budget for scans on Messi and had to use this well known likeness for Ronaldo:-

Maybe the problem is konami's software tools they're using or artistic talent, because personally I believe this reference is spot on.

I had the bad idea to test this game also on Xbox One. "Hey, after all it's free!" I thought. "Let's give it a try to see how different it is from the Steam version!"
DON'T DO THAT.

The game on Xbox One is broken beyond repair. To the point it's painful and I'm laughing so I could avoid crying.

Awful LOD, players unaware of the ball more often than not (I swear this doesn't happen this often on PC), blocky graphics with no AA whatsoever (I mean, I usually don't care much about ngraphics but on Xbox One we're pretty much on par with ISS Pro).

Poor, poor PES. What have they done to you?

Back to the PC version I'll go, when they at least fix the most annoying issues it has.

I think pachinko isn't doing too well for them .. seen on r/games

Spot on.
You know what? Almost surely, someone urged them to rush it like no tomorrow so they could "hit the shelves" (stores, more likely) before FIFA... And this is what they did: release a stinking unfinished mess so they could say "See? We released our game ahead of our main competitor!"

There are good bits in this game, it's not like it's totally trash can material... But to find those good bits that make you say "wow, this was brilliant" you should prepare yourself to dig through layers and layers of bugs and shortcomings and crap.
I don't know if I have the courage to do that.

Let's wait until November and see the state of the game down the line. One could hope, at least.

Even at this stage, is obviosled.
eFootball 2022 exceeds PES20/21 by all measures, (including visual style and depth of technical capacity for PC version)

I hope in future, you'll change your mind,
Of course if konami doesn't blow what we got so far.

another cheers!

From a modding perspective I feel you the Unreal engine can open up the game to new possibilities but they still could have gotten off to a better start than this.

Is this a proof that there's other version of the game ? and the game played by the testers is really different from 0.9

It's remotely possible the demo we got right now is the mobile phones quality version, without the Unreal scaling to match advance systems. Could be a feature to be applied to the game code after version 0.9
But who knows...

One more thing i noticed:
Game is really demanding in cpu/gpu power.
60 FPS cap is to secure a smooth gameplay , although my rx 580 and ryzen 2600 rig , sometimes frames drop to 58 or 59(gameplay), even with these crappy graphics.
So i doubt if it runs smooth on mobile devices. it needs tons of optimization.

Surely no company is stupid enough to show a product to millions of people that is much worse than final product. Its business suicide. Its been a konami excuse for 10 years and playtesters i must add. Oh this is not the new code the new code is miles better. Always turns out to be a load of bollocks.

@The_Knight you are being tagged in sportsbible "review" of the game :D :D.
https://www.sportbible.com/football/efootball-2022-has-been-released-and-its-a-mess-20210930

I feel sorry for The_Knight because he genuinely believed we were getting a next gen experience with some new good mechanics but a tad unpolished and instead we have a skeleton of a basic football mobile game,

PES was BENCHED by Efootball, and PES knows it don´t want to be in again, not with this MANAGER (aka present Koinami Effotball dev team). Lets just hope as winter market opens, PES might get the transfer of the year and sign to another club, now that will be the blow of the market.

If we look closelly we can compare Konami with Barcelona, and PES with Luiz Suarez, no money (better, there is but they dont want to invest), Awfull manager (Koeman/Kimura, they even have the same Initial in name), and they Benched Suarez, and relegated them to reserve team (PES is not on reserves anymore, its a free player without the possibility of signing a new contract atm).

Aaaaand i just found out the engine Konami is using for colisions/animations:

Yep. This is 100% the mobile game, upgraded with higher fidelity player models, and given new gameplay mechanics. But it's the mobile game, and lacks any nuance or complexity that used to be the staple of this series for decades.

Moving forward, there are no patches or mods that can make this game anywhere as complicated as even Winning Eleven 9, as it still needs to run on a phone. One solution is for them to stream the game's "brains" off a server so it's always online, the way MSFS does with its textures. But yeah, eFootball is a mobile game with enhanced player models, lighting and new gameplay mechanics and that's it.

The tactical instructions are less depth than the previous versions of the game, yes PES 6 have more tactical instructions than eFootball

So how the players will manage the ML mode ?

Can't wait to fill in these incoming questionnaires asking about microtransactions/surprise gameplay mechanics, card collecting mini games, and what's our favourite legend we'd like to see in eFootball.
Finger definitely on the pulse

#fcuk off pes fans #new crowd
post launch:
#where is everybody?

The assets look like they might be the same to me but the polygon count is drastically reduced. It's a terrible sign that in order to improve the lighting/shadows etc. they had to sacrifice the crowd detail. Don't forget that the leaked footage had really awful frame drops, it's possible that this was a hastily implemented optimisation to get the game at least playable.
