eFootball (All Platforms)

I guess these new generations of Konami developers have no idea how football or video gaming at all work, they are stuck in their own world it seems.

The problem we (career mode enthusiasts) have right now is there is nothing besides football manager 2022 to play a proper immersive career mode on.
What are our options for 2021-2022 season?

A) Going back to older PES or the latest ePES 2021 won't be immersive as now there is conference league, nations league, world cup expansion to 48 soon, VAR, and so on. It might work for a few months, but it will get old and boring eventually, and modders will not update team rosters further. We may only get stadiums and other cool stuff, but ML wise we are stuck.
B) Going to efootball 2022, blindly hoping for a master league with proper randomly generated youth teams, 3 european international leagues(fake but it doesnt matter), edit mode, and ability for it to be modded, at the earliest, we can expect these to happen by 2035 efoot update.
C) Going to fifa 22 where EA will now be forever lazy and won't feel the need to upgrade their career mode anymore, and although to be fair, it is much better than any of pes ones, fifa still lacks modding and edit mode to get your own team/league/players in the game or modify existing ones, and until either one of the those happens it's still very hard to go the fifa way for the career. As far as online and street/volta go, those are fun.
D) Waiting for some miracle from that UFL game, or a 2k/ubisoft/nacon/sony/whatever announcement that they are making their own football game.

Very dark future...

E) Going back to Championship Manager 3 to 2002 and classic PES 3 to 6 and imagine that you're still living in the 1998 - 2007 (the best football period)...

I agree.

PES isn’t an option. PES 2021 is just too boring to play for any amount of time. There’s not much to do off the pitch and managing a team should have more to it than just playing matches.

FIFA 22 looks terrible and I have a feeling it will be similar to 21 which is a disgusting game (dramatic I know but had to emphasise how much I hate that game!)

FIFA Career Mode will still have FUT-like gameplay. Sliders can only achieve so much, it won’t help with midfielders running back into their positions or helping the defenders. It’s an arcade game now with very nice graphics and superb presentation. On the pitch, it’s bad. Very bad.

eFootball 2022 will probably be so bad that it will quite hilarious to play. For a few hours.

I’ve had fun with various football games this summer. PES 5, 2017, FIFA 16 and FIFA 20.

But now I think I’m calling it a day on football gaming. It takes up too much of my spare time and I actually find it stressful trying to find perfection which simply doesn’t exist. Gaming wise, I’m happiest when I’m deep into an RPG or something with a very interesting plot. Football gaming is dreadful now, the worst it’s ever been. It’s not coming back for us so I’ll enjoy the memories and have fun reading everyone’s impressions here.

But I think I’m out now - I need to get back to my pile of shame and stop forcing myself to enjoy football games which aren’t very good.

The sheer fact that the 'super-man' animation for goalkeepers is still there tells me there was zero care and thought going into gameplay. It is Fox engine, it is more of the same, it is nothing like we were promised.

We'll see the same animations we've seen for the last 3 years.

That's why i'm betting after the initial phase of trying it out, people will be coming back to PES 2021. It is more modded and, therefore, more polished.

I found some HD gameplay footage, it's from This is Football 2004 but it seems pretty similar to me. It's honestly the game that the "New Football Demo" most reminded me of.
Looks more like Fifa
They have literally said this is now essentially a demo on their 30th September launch. eFootball will look a lot different in 6-12 months time I'd hope, preferably to the point that it looks more like a traditional release. The only things we can actually assess on the 30th is it's gameplay, ai and stability online. These, I hope, and I'd expect, will improve over time. Fortunately all previous versions of the game formerly known as PES will still be working so I can get my ML and co-op World Cup fix until eFootball adds these modes.
Like free to play Racing Sims like Raceroom i reckon you will buy what you want... Ie You will never use Lique 1 no problem dont buy it.

Those that want a full game will be able to buy as much stuff as they can afford over the next few years.

Im pretty sure after 2 or 3 years it will be vastly different to what we play on the 30th.

That video above its so much slower than Fifa most likely to slow for the masses to ditch Fifa and move over.

O refuse to believe that the mess we are seeing is due to covid. Everything that was showed, the lack of information, the lack of a decent trailer it all screams of incompetence, and a lack of a roadmap, like, literally.

I would understand if there were delays, or lack of time to complete a mode or some feature, but not even be able to show a finished gameplay at 30 days from launch… we are talking about a F2P game that mostly lives of content, gameplay, and netcode. 3 things that Konami is lacking (not so in gameplay but it could and should be much better) for more than 10 years.

This all looks like last year the heads of Konami just checked the costs of PES development against the revenue, and decided to just scrap tat project and turn that into an F2P, based on their milking cow mobile game, with 1/10 of the costs.
They’ve been neglecting it for a long time.

The fact that you still can’t access some match options until you kick off and not even during half time shows their commitment.

Thats a minor thing compared to other stuff.
They have no clear gameplay vision. One v one being the main headline this year, which is now a 2 year old EA creation that has killed defending.

As little work for as much money as possible. Its as shallow as modern commercial society, with just as much identity. None.
What’s needed is creators that love the game and love football gaming. Not gimmicks and cool capture moments. Reflective of the passive world we have now, where quick gratification is key and hard work is scorned upon.

I suppose it’s a sign of getting older and out of touch with modern society as the art that’s created will be a product of it. What I long for and I imagine most is a trailer where someone is crunched and they fall heavily into the dirt with mud splattering their face, followed by a scrappy winner for the minnows. Insyewd we get nobs going crazy skills “ Baller bro “ and after pinging it in from 40 yards with a back heel. Dancing by the corner flag like like MC Hammer.

I have to confess, i once downloaded a pes card game on mobile, it was pretty addictive. This screen shot reminds me of that. They released content after content, just sucked you in. Some players had special moves they used to pull mid game with flashy graphics. They had those special skills you could see on their card. It was like one of those hologram star cards, was a perfect game for potty time. I'd imagine they would hide exclusive moves for some players/card behind a paywall, i wouldnt be surprised if they did, like rising shot, dipping shot etc. More special the card, more people will spend money on it. FIFA will have informs and team of the season, efootball will have something similar with exclusive skills tied to players.

You can do most of that in Fifa 22

What I don´t really get...and I´m not a game developer nor a programmer or something.

And it´s also not that it´s really important....but the ball boys throwing the ball to the keeper when it´s out.
They say, this is only happening in the next gen version.

Why? This should be absolutely doable in the current version either, right?
And not just now, but for years already.

Like I mentioned....not important, but I was just wondering.

Tbh, there is absolute zero hype to me personally for this new release.
I´ll surely give it a try, but I even had more hype when efootball PES 2021 season update came out, cause they said...it feels kind of better than PES 2020.

I guess, I´ll just try out new graphic mods, all the bells and whistles-mods, like gloves, boots, chants....mod the hell out of this, start a new ML campaign and pretend I´m having a new game.

Theyve not even shown us how the mode looks where you can use these 'chance deals' or how they work at all. It's insane.

Anyone claiming that this is basically a demo. Tell me which other demos you know of that cost £30?

I dont think it even has a name yet.
Most names were "TBD" in the trailers.
They are not showing anything, apart from money milking tweets and ridiculous interviews with a bloke who doesnt see the difference between football and Street Fighter.
This is what really pisses me off.
There are people who still believe and try to find excuses for them. Its not a bad thing and it comes from the love towards the series.
But looking at the whole thing from a distance, the way Konami treated their fanbase last couple of years - they are literally just spitting in the faces of all people, including the ones that still care.
Its sad and it makes me angry. Not for myself, I couldnt care less now. But for the people who still do.

Can everybody just relax!? The game isn't even out yet, stop being so negative when you haven't even played it! Let's wait & see .. So anyway, I hope I get some good players with my pre-order ..

/ am i doing it right? edit: typo lol
People are negative because it's hard to find any positives. We've barely seen the game let alone played it.

Those at least 5-8 pages where... How should i say politely and "with reserve" total trash. 1 post on 3 where okay btw.
Some good jokes, but most were forced with Mobile Nokia shit and not funny image, and ove-exagerration. You don't have the humour of @Isslander admit it and pass. Looks like Kintergarden.

If won't even play the game for sure even after the update, especially those or the one who said that PES is shit since 12 year (PES 2013 then? I prefers many PS4 version that this streched in all part game : same as Fifa does with their slow shoot and fast passing etc, 40 kg player, Header 10khm etc. Looks like only AI matters to you, the rest in PES 2013... There's A LOT to discuss.
And at the time, PES 2013 was destroyed by critics, now it's the best? I replayed it : awful in comparison to Fifa 14 or 11.

Why do you care or even post then... You all know we won't have something PERHAPS good (or really good why not? Because you decided it won't be as it's called Efootball or what? Or other dumb childish stuff like that? Grown a bit for some guys. There was a problem during the game building process : then we have to do with it that's all.

I don't care about interview : only the result matter. I'll if it's the end in some months, as i wont play it before... Some month. Just a small try with the "Demo".
And of course they're showing the paid stuff, it's F2P game. Nothing illogic.

I'm pretty sure no one is being forced to spend $30 on it. I find it odd that someone would want to, but I guess there are people prepared to do it. I've sunk over 750 hours into Apex Legends. Plenty of things you can spend money on in that game, some for more than $30. How much have I spent on it? Absolutely nothing!
