eFootball (All Platforms)

You can also make 2 games in one application. And switch to the dumbest when you encounter a Mobile user online if you choose it.
What a Mobile game, seriously, would "cost" in terms of Gigas to be included in the same application, on a PS5???
Nothing. Really nothing. Except if they builded the game for Nasa's phones. But current phone... Please guys
Cross play with mobile devices is an utter nonsense, there’s no logic at all in this.

What Ps5 player will want to play against a mobile player? Against a pc player or an Xbox user sure, that’s the cross play that would make sense.

This is a terrible idea, and the worst part is that it hinders the development of the game. More powerful hardware like Pc’s and consoles will always have to play the waiting game so that mobile hardware evolves and catch’s up.

Because of this in the end the mobile game dictates the development of the series. In a way it really became the lead platform. And this is obviously a bad thing for the future of the game.

Not to the public.
But companies get early builds of consoles to start building their next-gen games so that by the time the consoles are out to the public, there are actual next-gen games to play and content to promote the new hardwore.
Do you think Konami and EA didn't have early versions of PS5 to start preparing their games?.
PS5 launched last November. Do you think developers only started working on games for PS5 on November 2020?.
No but you've said "we waited", i just answered we didn't have the choice.
And like we see, the big project was cancelled, replaced by another. So we waited, but the big boss didn't. He switched in the middle of everything. (we all know it : no more Masuda who was there while the Messi teaser were showed)

So, all that you say from that time was replaced way after by another project. Perhaps 6 months after the teaser trailer, we don't know but it was at the start of PES 2021, or at the middle of PES 2020.
In fact, the game you're talking is on a box somewhere in Konami office, they tooks some stuffs from it and put it away.

Looks like they decided to start walking around barefooted.
In all seriousness - its so sad to see all this. Im glad you picked up on that line about "negativity being normalised". It really hit me as well.
Years after years, all the promises, monster patches, 3 year cycles, false advertising, asking us to wait 2 years for something that will blow our minds and then spitting in our faces, taking all the offline modes away...
(and please - please spare me the "Master League will come as a DLC" line. They only decided to add it coz of the backlash they received. And Master League will be nothing but an afterthought. A shallow, basic mode, nowhere near to what we deserve after all these years)
...and delivering this monstrosity designed for cross play with mobile devices.
And then he comes in and dares to play the victim here. Its such an insult. Such a fucking insult. Even though I accepted the fact that my favourite series will never be good again - its still hard to listen to that ignorance.

Where they see "excessive negativity" I see "excessive victimization" on their part.

You don't get it ! Cross platform is the only reason that we STILL have game on console !
Just imagine the meeting at which the future of the series is discussed between Konami's board of directors and developers ... there have been tough conversations! Let's be honest, the mobile version of the game brings a lot more money to the company, the board of directors looks at numbers and asks the logical question ... why should we make a separate game on consoles, when we can't make 1/5 of the money we make from mobile version !?

Of course there have been loud voice conversations, there are people who have left the company, traditionalists who want a real console version, others want a real mobile game ... and here obviously at the last minute it was decided to compromise, so either we get this, which we have a mobile game emulated on console hardware or get nothing.

The developers know that we, the fans, will not be happy, that's why this is the whole silence, so they want to change the name because this is no longer PES, because they know that there is no good way to present this whole situation and they hope that the longer it lasts, the bad news is received slowly, so it will be accepted and swallowed most uselessly and with less damage.

The thing that stood out the most for me in these new gameplay videos is how players are constantly bumping into each other. Sometimes in succession.
Player A (on the ball) bumps into Player B, generating a collision, one of them falls to the ground or trips, then Player B bumps into player C, causing the same scenario as in the previous case, then player C bumps into player D. Until eventually the ball is passed or kicked elsewhere or until the ball goes out of play.

Yes. It makes no sense. But it convinced the big boss of Konami headquarter, what can we do about it?
Probably the guy showed him how they will do, what it will coast and what's the possibility of gain in comparison to that.

But it's not what i said. No one with a PS5 will select the option to play against Mobile... Well some japanese and others will keep it turned on but whatever.
Just that there was a solution for next-gen vs mobile, very simple. But i think, the issue was time, again and again, and Masuda project was cancelled so no PS5 project continuation : but switch to another project.
What's the point of the cross-gen change if the game, in his fundamentals will remains the same?

But i'll be honest, what i saw in motion, WASN'T mobile level. I know several kids playing mobile, it's impossible to make a game with a physical engine and animations engine, variety like we saw (even if you think it's bad). So, perhaps, i'll say "perhaps", it's different when you play vs Mobile. Just that the game we see is rushed, Masuda project trowed to make one and only UI/System of playing the game (that doesn't mean the gameplay, physics or whatever technical should be the same, but the buttons and everything with UI yes), and there's no only reason.

To me it's PS4 level, yes, it is more or less. I don't see PES 2015 better, just go and check a video because some have very very short memory of what a PS4 early game not completely "next-gen" was looking like.

Before that, two reason killed the game, and it was on Seabass ERA. So "bring back Seabass", it's too late, things are done
-We played with a PS2 then a PS2.5 engine the whole PS3 era. VS a FIFA at his top, with an engine completely made for PS3, and a PES fan behind to rebuild the game.
-PS4, people lost faith in the serie at first, even if year after year it became better than FIFA for more or less every critics, review, us etc.
And at the start of that new FOX era, EA gotted all licence + the people thrust.

So everything started on PS3, (even if there's PES 2013 fans > but the game was killed here and out at the time you remember?)
It was all PS2.5 game in comparison to any other Fifa PS3 engine, even if you compare the 10 (with a big flaw) 3 years older...
AND a big thing too to not forget they gotted SERVERS when online was kinda new on Console, and most of people, including me, played much more online than offline. Until it gotted me bored and it became a troll fest.

They already did that, remember? PES 2021 SEASON UPDATE?
And we were all on board. Thinking PES 2022 would be huge. Konami have finally understood that they need to take their time in order to build a truly next-gen groundbreaking football game. We were happy to wait.

Look where that got us. A half-baked, incomplete, stripped-down game. And, might I add, not so different to PES 2020/2021.
Because when you see this new eFootball thing, you can absolutely tell it's still PES. Everything looks more or less the same. So what have they been doing for the past 3 years?.
Maybe just maybe the nxt gen game is so far away from being complete they had to go with the mobile game last minute *clutching at straws i know *
they about mobile players to see the footballer they manage
Why would mobile players even want huge circles under the players? 😭

I think the biggest mistake was the release of the unpolished gem called PES 2014.
This game had tons of potential, it was a true next gen tech demo in every aspect (graphics, lighting, physics, cloth animation).
It was a step towards simulation, with slower pace, things were happening more slowily, more tacticly.
But, major issues/bugs/glitches, slow response( "run and gun" gamestyle was not applying there) made people hate and abandon it., at the same time when FIFA 14 was, maybe, the best FIFA for ps4 era.
So KONAMI removed all this next gen technology and physics and made PES 2015, a mutilated PES 14, with nerfed physics/graphics, linear, dull but much more accessible and playable.
To my opinion PES 2014 was the only real effort for something really innovative, next gen and targeting simulation.

Yeah, I was also hoping that PES 2014 is "start of beautiful friendship" .... but it lasted only a year.
Game was horrible in many areas, but where it worked it was magical. Just take Barcelona put night-clear weather and just pass ball around around on your half or around center of the pitch. That thing looks real, and no other game ever (or before) was something similar.

But it was unfinished, and when time to finish it come (next few releases) they change direction.

This game was not two years in development. You saw the teaser they made last year, they were going to make a next gen game. Somewhere in that progress, they decided there was an easier way to make money, and here we are.

They only created the Messi model and the grass specifically for that short teaser. Sort of a placeholder to appease the crowd just when they were about to let us down with the Season Update (or shortly after that). They needed something for people to look forward to.

It's not like they extracted all of that from an ongoing game under development for the teaser. It was the other way around. They created all of that just for that teaser.

That's what I think at least. It's what common sense tells me.

Pes2014 had midfield battle, formations are more compact unlike now where it is very spacey. That is by design choice to allow for more 1v1 battle

To me it's not the biggest mistake (the biggest was PES 2008-2010 with PS2 engine VS FIFA) but yes, one big mistake that slowed down people to PS4 version edit/ was "it will be like PES 2014".
But we can't be sure that a polished PES 2014 would have pleased to players... I can see it as a try, but even in the "simulation" system, there were very big flaws. Like the speed without any effect and catch up bug, keeper and deviations etc.
Remember the same year between PES 2014 and 2015 : the only person who were the best to know how to changes stuffs regarding the engine, how to do things that would have took 6 months for him but 2 years to Konami has left > Kojima.

But whatever, i didn't remember except here people carrying about PES anymore after the PS3 era, from PES 2009 to 2013.
The time people who buyed only one football game, and it was Fifa (i personnally buyed the 2, how bad one were, just for changing).
Why? By habits, now Fifa is better and online ready. PES wasn't, they don't even got servers since... Well, never when it was called PES. Perhaps in 2020 or 2021 i don't know, i didn't tried.

Dont want to repeat the same stuff but people are right how can this of been in development for 3 years on a new engine and look almost identical. It beggars belief.

Ok, i've seen the whole thing.

Animation is still clunky and not smooth, it's a bit remind me of PES 2015
I don't like the constant zoom-in

04:12 : EMS is wide open, he could've shot that from outside the box
07:12 : Did they bring back that stupid low cross ? god i hope not
10:36 : Look at Smith-Rowe, AI finally try to hold & dribble inside the box no more 1-2 second touch & pass.

Honestly, this game has potential but still incomplete. Idk what difficulty this guy play and i hope it's not superstar. Looks like this game is playing in PS4 rather than Next-Gen, crowd looks shite tho ?
seems like old gen port.

You can see the cloth deformation is missing here and instead is using normal maps like the ps4 pes games.

According to Adam there is some official upcoming news & impressions about the gameplay. He doesn't state exactly when or exactly what but maybe we might see some actual HD capture footage or more news about controls 🤞....
The product will do the talking
Oh yeah definitely, it started talking when nfg released. It's quite the chatterbox.
