If the thought of the direction they're taking the game, because they listen to what the 'fans' want doesn't give you a intense migraine,
or the thought of all the features we've lost over the last decade compared to the dumbed down, uninspiring, unfulfilling trash we're offered now,
or the thought that this online focused, microtransaction filled game will in any way serve up even a semi mentally handicapped AI offline experience that will engage players for more than one half of your first game...

If that doesn't give you a migraine for the ages, then 20secs navigating those blue and yellow UI monstrosities sure as sh1t will.

Pro Devolution Soccer 2022 is a more apt rebrand ffs.

I just looked at the trailer again and no way its a console game.

Judging fro mthe animation, shadow lods and overall graphics, it looks like the game was made on mobile and then it was upscaled back on consoles and pcs with slight improvements.

This looks horrible. PES 13 has less animations but still manages to look more solid than what we saw in the trailer. Heck, even PES 06 looks perfectly acceptable, the base animations in that game looks solid. Fifa 06 has robotic animations and even that looks more grounded and believable. Its something about how everyone floats on the screen on this trailer that makes it look worse than any other football game I've seen.

I try to convince myself to think otherwise, but more I look at the trailer, the more obvious it gets. Mobile crossplay has be be one of the worst idea I've seen. If the base game is built upon mobile, then things will always be shitty.

Also problem with F2P model is that, there will be constant gameplay changes and that can be both good and bad.

With offline yearly releases, at least at some point the game stops receiving updates and a new game is released. Now if you happen to like that old game's gameplay more than the new game, you can simply keep playing that. Like in my case, I prefered pes 18 over pes 21.

But with F2P model, we will keep getting updates on the same game for years. While at some point we might end up liking the gameplay, Konami can easily fuck up the gameplay [or graphics or anything for that matter] after some update, which you can't revert back from. This is a huge concern for me.

No. PES 6 is outdated technology and animations, and physics and everything and it was actually quite arcady. It was a great game back in the days but it wouldn't be in the standards today, besides you already have old school-like arcady games.

Konami should do a decent simulator, but they are too lazy for that an in addition, they want to make fast, simple money. Old Konami is dead, now they are pachinko investors and want to make a casino out of eFootball. Is time to asume that already. There are more options, stop having faith on Konami cause PES 2021 will be their last decent football game and will be the main off-line football simulator for some years (modded). At least you can mod it and have a decent experience.
I did not say that they should release a new game with these features and release it every year..because the pes title is over, they should release a version in honor of PES ... In the previous days I installed all PES from PES 5 until PES 2016 ... PES 5 is clearly superior to all the next ones ... especially in terms of football build up that in the newest, gave useless passes all the time ..

For efootball...If you think that they will fail you have wrong...If they want to make more money the mobile gaming and this type of games (free game and the players can buy some shits like skins, modes, etc) it s the easiest method to make a lot of money and to have more players...
Dont forget that all the people around the world have mobiles but they dont have consoles or strong pc...my grandmother will be able to play efootball if she wants...
If efootball on mobile has success in Asia and the Asian people playing efootball on mobile, they dont care about the others...They will earn a lot of money!!!

In a nutshell

Hopefully they won't remove ML from one's game after the "season" has ended only to force hin to buy it again at the beginning of the following one.
Hopefully you only have to pay once for the ML expansion and then pay yearly for roster updates. Something like...
  • Base game: free
  • ML expansion with 21/22 rosters: 30€ (it's just a guess)
  • At the end of the season, 22/23 rosters: 10€
  • 23/24 rosters: 10€
...and so on as long as this game is alive.
If you didn't want to pay for the updated rosters, you could still keep playing the ML with the outdated ones.
If you purchased the updated rosters, at the beginning of a ML campaign you'd be asked which database you'd like to use (like it happens in F1 Challenge '99-02 and in F1 2015 which also features the 2014 season).

I'm not paying for ML-as-a-service (meaning that I'd have to renew the subscription to the mode yearly). In that case, this game would be dead to me.

If the game is solid and the ML purchasing scheme makes sense, I might aswell give it a try.

Impossible, you can't pay for the rosters update or just redownload the game in september 2022 :P

I'm guessing that we have to pay for individual league

But wait, I'm so confused... what are you talking about? Rosters, future updates or modes for 30€, 10€? Also thinking to pay for individual leagues? You don't need to be worried about your credit card, because it's free. Look here's the proof on their web page written in a yellow 50 font size and bold letters:

Changes to System Requirements (Mobile)

With the updates to the game, the minimum and recommended system requirements will change, and some devices will no longer be supported. For devices which are no longer supported, play will not be possible after updating to eFootball™ 2022. Additionally, performance will vary among supported devices. Some users may need to upgrade their devices in order to continue playing.

If you choose to take this opportunity to upgrade your device, please be sure to link your data within eFootball PES 2021. This will ensure you will be able to carry your assets over to eFootball™ 2022.

The system requirements for eFootball™ 2022 will be announced on this website at a later date.

No, Autumn starts as said 21 or 22 of September up to 21 of December that starts the Winter and is my birthday, btw. Officially speaking, we are still in summer, even if it feels in the air like Autumn. So actually 30rd of September would be indeed Early Autumn.

Winter months: December, January, Februrary
Spring months: March, April, May
Summer months: June, July, August
Autumn months: September, October, November

I'm going off this definition,

your speaking about the official dates it starts in relates to the star signs/zodiac, where every season seems to begin and end around 19th-23rd. September 1st I will always see as the first day of Autumn even if 'offically' its the 21st.

To play peacekeeper, @klashman69 and @Hels The Ronin - you're both right.

For the readers' delectation, the astronomical calendar (unlike astrology, which is mumbo jumbo) says summer ends the penultimate weekend of September. The meteorological calendar divides the Gregorian calendar into four seasonal blocks, with autumn comprising September to November.

Astronomers and meteorologists are all much smarter than me, so they can fight it out to the death for a final answer.

Thank you man for educating us both on our different interpretations of the astronomical and meterorological calendars. Nicely put.

We will move forward to the most important thing.

Almost every single year by September 1st. Hundreds of people would have been testing the game out offline and giving their feedback as the game goes gold in August with a September demo available then release èarly September.

So far of efootball 2022 we have had a online beta 1v1 human player only online. It was rubbish, but I enjoyed the dribbling and it certainly has potential, but it's empty and broken.

I have a horrible feeling what we will see on the 30th of September won't be much different. Every strikes as panic stations and trying to hide horrific flaws before release.

...and almost every single year by Sept 30th (plus-minus a few weeks either way) we've all enjoyed the thrill of waiting for the postman to drop the new PES game on the doormat. In some years we've also enjoyed traipsing around shops to see if someone would break the release date. Golden memories of UK retailers in the year of PES4 caving in and selling it early, one after the other like dominoes. I think everyone had snapped up PES4 by the close of business on the Wednesday of release week! Good old PESFan.com almost crashed that afternoon with delighted fans coming on to say "Got the game, got the game!" It's precisely this rich lore that we are saying goodbye to, as well as goodbye to PES itself. Even if the eBomination is unexpectedly a decent game, it won't reproduce the routines we've all come to cherish over these past 20 years or more.

If you guys want to get technical, meteorological autumn starts in September and astronomical autumn starts September 21/22.

I remember posting on Pesfan back in the day.

Sure I gave a running commentary of the postman's possible whereabouts on release day after ordering from Play.com (maybe with PES3?) He came to the door, rang the bell and I got all excited but it was just a parcel for my mum and I was so disappointed only for him to come back 30 mins later to say he'd missed one parcel - which turned out to be PES!

I think that feeling has gone over the years though, what with getting older and with the Internet you end up pretty much seeing the whole game before you actually play it yourself!

Right up to PES2021, I'd always had that special 'PES Day' feeling, no matter how much I'd seen of reviews, previews, demos etc.

Without a doubt though the best era for PES Day was the PS2 one, just before online ordering really took off, when most of us still got the game from a bricks and mortar shop. That long odyssey of walking from 'site of interest' to 'site of interest' in the city centre, looking and hoping...

Just this week, fired up by nostalgia, I had a mini-quest for some of the many lost PES games that come out during the overlap between console generations. I went out in search of the PS3 PES games from PES2015 onward, none of which I'd played at the time, of course, because of upgrading to PS4.

And I found the PS3 versions of PES2015 and PES2016 in various CeX-style shops around town, only a few quid each. Came home, feeling the feeling that we have now lost for good in the eFootball age. I stuck PES2015 in the PS3, drew the curtains against the late summer/early autumn sun... and had a great time. Those lost PS3 games are different enough from their PS4 brothers that they feel like new games.

I had to order PES2017 for PS3 online. Yesterday at lunchtime I heard a familiar rattle and thud from the front door. Went out, and there was a PES game I'd never played before in a traditional brown package. This is what we've lost.

People on twitter is getting full of anger about konami ideias on the online mod and gp coins. Well i never use it, i only like offline. If they are not interrested to do that, i won't even test the free game, i only care about the soundtracks, the fake logos and maybe update my logos with new crest official teams. That's all about you can eat at konami's shop. 😂

Would you believe that I had to argue with my mate about it. He is convinced that it isn't a flag. I couldn't believe it. Kept saying it was a cursor for when you change your player hahah.

I thought he was on the wind up but no.

No matter how I broke it down, he wasn't having it. I thought I was in one flew over the cuckoos nest.

Mental!!!!
