eFootball (All Platforms)

It was and it wasnt.
I hated the idea and my initial response was pure hatred.
I grew to like the feature tho. There was a certain charm in making a decision which player to boost which way.
I was swapping shoes between players, making all sorts of combinations.
Along with very immersive Master League from Pes13 - it created a very deep and engaging package, that kept me occupied for many seasons.
Dont get me wrong - I wouldnt like magic shoes to ever come back, but comparing to the horrible and flat Master Leagues we had last couple of years - id take the magic shoes in a heartbeat.

I'm with you on being torn. I don't see any issue with boots affecting performance to some degree. It affects mine! My touch and accuracy can really vary depending on the boots I'm wearing. But that it affects speed and acceleration in PES 2013 and by +5 points - that's silly. As is the means of acquiring them. Small price to pay for how much better the ML is than today's efforts, as you say.

its real and its happening, I wonder how they are going to balance the AI.. because EA and Konami still cant find the right way

I guess it will be something competitive like LOL, DOTA2, or RL, and stuff like that to create your own fake team or player and compete. In the end could be a good alternative to what's now on the market regarding esports, but I'm generally not a strict online guy. I prefer mostly to play my fantasy leagues, cups & etc offline, that could recreate the real football. Or a badass manager/player. But yeah, competition to chose between alternatives it's a good thing...

Another bit that I liked was that boots were sort of indicator that this player is one of my "stars". Back then default players were all similar from the distance, with the graphics we had back then. So when I saw different shoes - I knew this bloke can do some magic!
Like I said - it was stupid, but grew on me.

let's wait and critically check out what Konami deliver on the 25th of August....

PES Mobile hat 400+ Mio Downloads... PES 2021 on steam has avg. players of 10.000 People... playing online finding someone to play is absolutely frustrating!

GaaS and F2P are the right way to go! I really hope that the content will be fine until Q1 2022 and Konami had a serious interest to deliver a great football experience.

People are complaining about gambling and cash creed are the same that buy EVERY year the other game for 60-90€ AND put money in FUT...

F2P: Try it - you like it ? - play it and pay for content you want to use.... you don't like it ? - don't play it... that's simple!

if Konami delivers a very good base (i doubt it) why not paying for content like Gamepass or ML ?? Prove me Wrong but i think over a "season" its cheaper
as buying that game yearly for 40-60€...
If Konami smash this its a great move but that demo was so abysmal it felt like 2008 all over again were your left scratching your head thinking what happened to the very good 2021? It only needed built on as was finally on track again.

Would be funny though if that demo and trailers had nothing to do with the game and they were just pulling the wool over EAs eyes and release some outstanding game with incredible graphics to boot. Not happening but would be insane if it did.

If I wrote Pes16 it was an accident.

Well the game was an accident so what you said fits even better:LMAO:
15 was pretty balanced, but the more one dimensional. I was disappointed they removed so much stuff from PES 2014 : the last patch from that game gived me hope for a better game as it was less buggy and harder to score.
I thinked they would have followed the same direction because it's not the whole game people didn't liked, but the unfinished product and big input lag/real input lag this time not related to animations. But no : they maked it far simple for PES 2015 so no need to try it if you want a version with no souls in it. At least PES 2014 gotted some souls, even with flaws, but they changed direction.

But from that version i agree about one thing : you didn't feeled stats, speed especially due to catch up system.

Fifa 08 got the exact same issue : speed don't matter, only overall technique and strength. You needed to get 20 points difference and double taping like a fool to overlap a defender with a created Aubameyang (he wasn't IG but in PESEDIT patch lol, loved that team they were the best around in terms of stats and players individuality/creation/balance between teams)

Well if people still got hope, and i think a bit the same, is that the "Beta" or the alpha for some seemed to test their servers. Or to test if the mobile game runs well on PS4, for compatibility.
Their feedbacks turned around online quality, that's why.

Personnally i still got 15% hope the game will be at least, technically (i don't talk gameplay wise) a bit above PES 2021 level which is PS4 at his limits let's say but the game will be different for sure. But if i didn't got hope, i would say we will get a Mobile game engine with PS5 graphics or PS4 if you got a PS4.
I really thinked at first that they would have produced a PS5 game, decreased or stuffs removed automatically when you play on Mobile or PS4.
Well, graphics are easy to manage, but animations and physics related to gameplay... We will of course gets more transitions if the engine manage it automatically but that all. Well that's what i suppose, i don't own the truth.

For once, as they directly WTF***ed all of us, i would like them to surprise us in a good way after disappointed us with all digital and the super rushed game presentation + trailer.
Plus : it's far to be out, so it's even more painful to wait with confusion.
On my side, to avoid "pain" i prefers forget efootball and thinkin about retro : doing like there's no future game, but a compensation game to replace PES.
I won't "wait" and see, i'll just see without waiting, but doing something else instead. Like there's nothing.

I'm so confused right now... what type of phone do you recommend me to buy to get eFootball TM working from day one? Because I don't wanna use a potato phone when everybody else will have the personalized blue and yellow edition. I know it needs to have 5G, good camera, my bank account connected to eFootball... what else? I'm so really hyped right now !!! Can't wait to play it vs cheap PC users and console players while I'm waiting at the laundry, or at the barber.

Yeah, it's really hard to believe, plus the fact that you will need a big phone to makes it runs correctly i suppose lol.
Even the Beta got some animation and physics who are a bit too much for a simple Mobile / at least, with UE to handle the game
... But not as much for a PS4 game. Weirdest change i saw in the whole gaming industry. Let's be honest, we all try, but we don't understand a jack thing about their system and how it will work, how it will be neither on Mobile, neither on console (any console, current or NG)

We think a bit too much, personnally i will stop because until i'll see something real and/or correctly explained or my head will explode with that randow weird informations garbage.
That's what i recommand to everyone lol. And i just hope we won't be ever more confused next week or in 10 days i don't know the date "in august"

And the most insulting part is that they've added to their "roadmap" that you can connect a controller to it. It's like they are saying:

"Well you can play it on mobile from the google appstore because it's portable you lads... you just need to download the app on your phone, then connect the console, the tv and the gamepad to your phone so you can play... as a matter of fact you don't need to touch the phone if you don't want to..."

All this feels like Muppets Show.

Never heard of it, the game above.

People like that twitter guy will understand how hard it's to create a "real" football game matching with any bad PES or Fifa we're just talking about now.
You need experience, and history behind. Imagine all you've got to do from scratch (neither of the two last game builded a game from scratch)
A whole database, animation system, ball physics, AI, models, stats system, calibration and i'll pass a thousand things :CONFUSE:

Not only licences why 2K or Namco didn't re-do an actual football game. Just because it became "too high standards" even if for us, we said it's low. But for a newcomer, it's super high.

Sensible soccer type okay, or the other i don't remember the name with 4 or 5 players and wall, no ball out of the pitch, no referee, but just fun.
A football based game is already hard, but a football game is another universe.

Regarding RPG elements on ML, actually there are a lot of things that could be added to the experience without feeling out of place.

For starters, full transparency on stat boosts/downgrades on things like fitness levels. It’s a shame we need to resort to an obscure picture on the Internet to see the actual stat boost a green arrow provides to players.

Also on other aspects, let’s say, a certain player is talented but crumbles under pressure on big games, he should drop 10 points on mentality only for those moments.

Or, if a player is a fan favorite, his confidence should increase and then result in better performances.

The problem I always found in football games is that a lot of this “scripting” or “cheating” is hidden, so we are left wondering what is actually happening.

Yeah, there's many stats hidden who weren't in the past like the player evolution.
I remember one or two, from a data editor : they couldn't change those stats, just see them.
There a stat called "Passing Technique", it applies also on the position the player is on the pitch for passing, but also for shooting (so shooting technique didn't really disappeared... It's just not editable) >

Vision, i don't know if it's like Vista or whatever, one stat more mental or defensive, *Ah yes i remember the Defensive stat: Covering. don't remember the last one.
Needs to scroll a kilometer of Whatsapp talking lol. I think for created players there's an algorithm who gives those stats automatically, regarding skills and IG stats. So you can edit any player, the 3 issues that is impossible to fix are market value, reputation/attitude, and the most important to me is player evolution... If it's not on the Ted : it's only editable on PC.

They're normally hidden on the core database, but i didn't see it in any PC Editor. Probably wasn't aware so didn't founded it, like the hidden stats in PES 6, no one at the time founded it for normal players, only Japanese's special ones. Where shown. And they were duplicated, their stats were different to the ones in game : when you registered the "real" ones from clubs, you could still see the hidden stats names but not the values, replaced by a "-"

Ask a data editor you know on Twitter, i'm not lying, i don't know why i would, and i'm curious as you. I pictures of the tool, but not all, didn't saw those hidden stats for exemple they were on another page with player's evolution, Reputation and Attitude (editable), market value, well special stuffs.

I'm feeling more and more pessimistic as we move forward. I feel that this eFootball will just be a mobile game that looks better on consoles, that's all. They have hundreds of millions of players on mobile, and Konami is officially now a mobile game company, not a console game developer. We'll see, I guess.

We dont really know anything at this stage. I admire you optimism, especially the line you used few times, that
"Worst case scenario we will get a game on pair with Pes21".

But you are right here - I would be careful with my expectations, coz as it stands - there is no indications whatsoever that this game will be anywhere near Pes21 (and its not like Pes21 was a great game, coz without the mods its dreadful and looks awful)

Just from pure wellbeing perspective - its better to keep expectations low and be positively surprised than keep them high and be extremely disappointed.

It depends on how awful/good FIFA22 is.

Worst case scenario? eFootball is just a PES2021 that looks much better by default. We'll buy the "offline modes" and enjoy a slightly better game. I won't buy anything until I see the EPL/La Liga stadiums at least converted to Unreal.... and hopefully the camera and scoreboard mods don't take too long. I hope we don't need turf and weather mods this year, with all this talk about "Photorealism".

Best case scenario? It actually plays much better than last year's game. For that, we'll have to wait to get our hands on it.

Now if FIFA22 actually plays great this year, then regardless of what Konami delivers, it won't matter (with a caveat of it only being on next-gen). With EA's game, almost no modding is required. Now I've seen reports about FIFA22 beta playing exactly the same as FIFA21, but with better animations and physics. And I've seen reports saying the gameplay is much better, as are the physics etc. Keep in mind those changes would only be seen on PS5/XBSX.

My guess? There aren't enough people with PS5s and XBSXs for FIFA22 to be relevant this year. The real fight will be with next year's game. We'll probably just keep playing PES2021 till Q2 2022 when the PC mods for eFootball start popping, and the UE5 update is out.
Hope so.. i think in the modding thread the great modders out there have converted fifa stadium to pes 2021 ? Hopefully the same pes 2022 erm.. efootball.

Konami is not diligent enough to "rewrite" game assets from 0, right ?

Nice backtracking on your previous post :))

Was gonna say, I think the better than PES 2021 comment will age about as well as Joe Biden's statement a month ago that the US won't ever be airlifting people off their embassy building in Afghanistan

Move on for now on. Don't think about it every day (try at least). Don't care. I was thinking more and more like you then i think "oh whatever, i don't care, i won't worry until august presentation or autumn".
But i can't feeling bad for good reviewers, youtubers and editing guys (as i am but i will edit retro if efootball is shit, no prob) like you @The_Knight
A bit less about editing teams especially bosses, wanted to be the first, one and only. I was part of and created 75% of data, faces and stats so i know what i'm talking about.

OT about my editor situation, all of that really affected me plus i wasn't in a good personal situation. It didn't help at all.

Now i'm standalone i still like editing but not things i don't have interest like when i was on Pesuniverse like MLS/We all wanted to do MX instead but the boss if you don't know who he is (who isn't an editor) said "we got MLS kits, we will do MLS".
Fake : he's just an MLS fan and we gotted kits from Erzo's last year valid for the season.
Was my first year i said yes. Then me and another new very good editor took the control. The MLS they gotted from PES 2019, converted, was complete shit. The guys made fastly some faces, and some approximation overall, but he didn't checked the other part with endurance and weak foot. Result : all 4/4 in weak foot for all players, only some redo stats who weren't that bad like Ibra or whatever who were in PES before, tooks 3 week to Eros/Not "Erzo" but Huigoman to make it "acceptable". Then on winter transfers, it was hell to do, and i corrected the more i could, and assigned all new players. But MLS is hell to edit, they buy players and sells them 3 weeks laters, i created almost 50 players for nothing...
And for PES 2021, i updgraded and restored 95% of MLS faces, stats of them and 70% of others euro stats a bit more more for faces. I wanted to check if my new system was good : it was very accurate to make fits created players with Konami's players well made.

Well enough talk but i was no life (covid, you know) and edited 10 hours a day for 0 euros. That won't never happen again, freedom of editing have no price. And you don't have pressure at all by anyone. I just don't want to be on a team who wants the monopole, with very good guys on it like Klash, Carra, but the owner wants to be the only, the first. Dude, your OF was total rubbish before Huigoman and me joined, i asked myself how they've gotted so much success as creations was bad, i forgot also Gronkaroglan helped us a lot, also Barca4eva but Gronkaroglan feeled pressure so much, he told me, since that he disappeared totally. Huigoman quitted editing and left December 2020 it wasn't fun for him anymore, that's what i should've done too.. But Liga kits are the best you can't found. So, there was only me as an advanced editor on the team and they hide it. I should say they are lucky if PES end now. Because there's no one anymore. We were 5 then 4, then 3, finally 2. And me alone from January to the last release in July.

Now, i will focus on what i'm interested on, an made a deal for kits providing with a good team with good guys (Pesteam.it, i didn't know they were Pesunites in fact : their last OF wasn't that bad, but not at the level of my (yes my i've done 6 months of editing, they did 2 weeks of kitsmaking) as i want my own stuff.

Hell of a work but i was 3 times faster and motivated than now.
Now i'll see if efootball is good enough to my taste to be edited, if it isn't : back to the retro, or complete stop. I'll see my mood in time and hour.
Sorry but all of that really pushed me to hate editing. If you edit, don't join a team. Just partner with them for kits.
And what we're doing sincerely, at least what i'm doing is a real work, normally for the same i should be paid + sup hours, 10-12 hours a day sometimes, i don't joke, 8h is the minimum. But not a penny, yes the first year, two gift. Then nothing.
I understand now guys making paid their OF. But i won't, just a paypal link, even if i won't receive more than 10 euros on the final lol.

On release i expect it to be poor. It will switch over to Unreal 5 and each year i expect it to get better and better but id imagine it will be 2023 before its good and 2024 before its really good.

As it's a bit of a rumourland at the moment with not much concrete news (despite the season already being underway) I thought I'd come up with 6 predictions for where we'll be in 12 months time.

1: Master League and BAL will be released so late that not many people bother to buy them. Konami will then use this 'lack of interest ' as a reason to no longer support the modes
2: The online will be popular, but as Fortnite do, they will introduce at least one outside personality/character as a unlockable player. Like they did with Usain Bolt. I'm thinking Solid Snake.
3: A new franchise will be announced as in the works, not EA or Konami but somebody new.
4: An ex employee in the PES development team will expose the inner workings in a gritty 'tell all' interview
5: The gameplay will be initially welcomed by players but its lack of depth will make it short lived praise
6: An 'exclusive partner' club will cancel their contract as they'll dispute the deal based on an online focus.

Anyone got any better predictions? The wilder the better

2. I would say Billy Eilish , to counter-market last year's FIFA Dua Lipa :)
Or Justin Bieber as "the GOAT" , not that goat :P 🐐 (cant go more wild, sorry :) )

Seabass will go public with his own new football game that he's been working on for the past 5 years - "Seabass Soccer". It'll be true next-gen gameplay with a nod to the gameplay foundations from the halcyon days of PES5/6. He'll also announce his partnership with the makers of Football Manager, delivering the most in-depth Master League imaginable. The game will be free-2-play and come with a free PS5.

The grass kinda looked nice in PES 08 and there was fake global illumination that made it look like the sunlight reflected from the grass back to the players.

Looks like FIFA'22 is no longer an option. What the hell is this garbage?

I won't even bother go deep into everything wrong with the ball physics, the passing physics and player momentum (is there even, player momentum?) The whole clip is just garbage.

So with FIFA'22 out of the way, we're either playing eFootball or modded PES 2021 (I'll call it PES 2022).

Except PES 2008 doesn't look like that and the grass isn't how you described at all. These are obviously heavily edited screens. 🤷‍♂️

This is why I laughed at these developer insight videos. They mean nothing, It's just marketing fluff.

They make it sound like they spent a year applying all these scientific and mathematical adjustments in the same of pure realism and yet it still looks like ice skating on the moon, midfielders refuse to track back and AI defenders wander around like they have dementia.

I'm not even playing the game and I'm getting stressed out from the footage.
