eFootball (All Platforms)

I guess in early September they will release the the game with few teams to play online and offline. they probably wait the gamescom to announce some stuff and explain all the mess they made.
for me this all stuff they work and done will have sense if they keep the base of the game through the years and just update it with new stuff, new mechanics, shooting styles, passes, add more and more players id, etc. also updating transfers and data. In this case I will pay good money for revamped and transformed master league every year!
this is the way iracing and some other games work.

Hello, everyone! I'd like to start this post by saying that I've been lurking Evo-Web for about 30 years now, and I've been playing Konami football games since Konami Hyper Soccer for the NES. I've decided to create an account now because there are some things that I have to say.

First of all, it's just a game! Imagine being so upset about a game... why do you come to a forum dedicated to discussing a gaming genre you're passionate about if all you're going to do is be passionate about it?! If your posts are just you displaying your concerns based on the information you have about a franchise you care about on a forum about said franchise, then why are you here?

You guys are so negative! The game is going to be bad at first, but it'll be amazing after many updates, it's a 3 year plan afterall, you'll all love it, truste me, bro. Why are you getting upset based on the official information and gameplay you've been given so far instead of being optimistic about inside information that you have no way of confirming if it's true?! What makes you all think you're entitled to having an opinion on a comercial product you have financially supported for years?! You are all illogical and negative... critizing a game based on everything that was officially shown so far instead of waiting to play it for yourself to only then have an opinion. Of course, if you're rational like me and have a positive opinion, then you don't have to wait to play for your opinion to be valid.

...

Jokes aside, I really haven't browsed the forum that much in the past when we're close to a new title's release, is it always like this?

Kimura also reveals some of the other differences players will see when playing eFootball on top-end hardware.

While the core game engine is the same for console and mobile, we’re working to ensure the best gameplay experience on each platform, he says. “[New-gen] consoles and high-performance PCs allow us to devote more resources to gameplay, so we’ve included a variety of elements that are not possible on mobile, such as 3D lawns, spectators’ realistic movement, cross-processing of moving kits, rich lighting, and motion blur. This is something that cannot be achieved on a mobile device.

“The sound, which is important for creating a stadium atmosphere, has been reconstructed from scratch, and the cheers and sighs of the crowd will add to the excitement of the game, too.”

Kimura stresses that some of these features will “not be included at the time of release” and will be “implemented in a future update”.

Speaking more broadly about the gameplay experience, Kimura says that, in his personal opinion, the most “interesting” gameplay difference between eFootball on Unreal Engine and previous PES titles on the old engine is the one-on-one battling between an attacker and a defender.

We brought in [Andrés] Iniesta and [Gerard] Piqué as our gameplay advisors and asked them for their advice,” Kimura says. “[We made] a big decision to change the controls that people are used to, but it made the battle for the ball more realistic and more reflective of the user’s skills.

We also worked on the match camera. A new camera called Duel, as the name suggests, was developed to allow players to enjoy the 1v1 battles that are the focus of this title. In situations where you are building up from the defensive line, you can see a wide area from a perspective similar to that of a conventional camera. It seamlessly switches to a closer view as the winger on the side has the ball or approaches the opponent’s penalty area. You can enjoy the delicate touch of the ball, feinting to deceive your opponent, defending with your body, or blocking a shot at the last second.

Oh, this is actually very good! I'm excited to know what those gameplay differences are!

I don't like the sound of that...

"we’re working to ensure the best gameplay experience on each platform,"
Gameplay experience = graphical fidelity and features, atmosphere – nothing to do with gameplay itself. Word play.

Hahaha holy shit! So that bugged out garbage camera in the NFG is something they're marketing as a feature?! It was awful. Now I can see why they did it though, and it's even more awful.

There I was, thinking "but I can't see the rest of the pitch..."
Konami: "we don't want you to see the rest of the pitch, focus on the 1v1 son."

I didn't play NFG so didn't see that camera. But all I can picture is that weird close-up slow-mo camera you get on ISS 3. 😄

In fact, when u close in enemy's goal post, the camera will get close and you will be dueling with 1 enemy defender, rest of the defenders will de-spawn out of the camera.

Maybe the GK will despawn too cause in the trailer the GK was invisible in one of the scene :LMAO:

I cant believe that the camera in NFG will replace the default stadium camera on previous pes. I legit thought that camera is for the mobile version only

I am actually wondering, half-seriously, if one of the reasons they're going for this camera is because with the cross-play mobile bottlenecks, they don't have the CPU/GPU budget to do much with the rest of the pitch and players, and are instead spending it all on some flashy 1 on 1 bollocks.

...... seamlessly switches to a closer view as the winger on the side has the ball or approaches the opponent’s penalty area....
Honestly, KCEO division of KONAMI wants their patent back... This was a feature in ISS 3. :shiver: (Similar but optional though)

Imagine you're watching a game on tv... but the cameraman is drunk and keeps randomly zooming in and out at inopportune moments. That's the NFG camera that's apparently a selling point. These guys are nuts, they really are.

I've been very dissapointed with literally every Kimura interview so far... bring back Seabass!
I know. Every time he says something I groan a bit more.
This one v one thing is getting out of hand. All considered I don't even understand how it could have got to this ridiculous point where it's all that matters. At this point go play Mortal Kombat online or something lol.
The foot-planting in MK is better at least!

I thought EA had totally won the prestigious "worst football game of all time" award with Fifa 21, but it looks like Konami have their sights on that prize with efootball-lolz.

What a time to be alive if you're a football fan! This is why competition is important folks...

Konami when they realize people just wanted a "traditional" 11v11 football game with good AI:

I remember the ISS 3 feature where it zoomed in, you got some commentary about it and thought it was cool.... the 1st time I saw it. Then it just got irritating.
I think this pretty much sums up all gimmicks really, it might be enjoyable at first because it's something new and different, however what matters most when it comes to making the experience as good as it can be for the player is focusing on the fundamentals and getting them right, it's why so many people go back to the PS1 and PS2 Winning Eleven/Pro Evolution Soccer games so much, they had almost no bells and whistles, they were all about making the football as good as it could be.

It's literally this, this is what matters most, the fundamentals, the most treasured games in the franchise are the ones that nailed this, but they simply don't get it for some reason. When playing NFG I thought that the camera was odd, but didn't mind it much, because to me it was probably just the camera from PES Mobile and they used it as a base, it's what I though at least, but apparently it's a feature...

Hopefully it's just one among a few camera options. Otherwise I don't think I'll be able to get through one match of this eFootball wank.

They are offering us warm cups of piss and expect us to be excited.

There are other infamous trolls it reminded me of too lol.

We do get some funny ones.

Some of these accounts have been created months ago, even with avatars. Has he been sitting there making accounts all year so he can use them as the release approaches? That's some serious dedication. Also, I wanted to hear more from the guy who said shadows don't exist in real football.

Movement is an interesting one though, it at least suggests they will be able to have some differences in animation between platforms while maintaining cross-play. I wonder if it is the case that they intend to use Motion Matching on next-gen gen devices only, but given the procedural nature of Motion Matching I'm unsure how that will be acheived. Somehow the positional changes will have to be kept in sync. The presentation I linked there is quite interesting if you haven't watched it, particularly the bits about collisions. At least there is a chance of real physicality in the future if they are using MM for all locomotion. I didn't see much if any evidence of improved movement in the online test though, if it's something that hadn't been implemented yet then the movement animations in the final game could look a lot more fluid. At least it gives a glimmer of hope that it won't just be a high-resolution mobile game (at least in the future 😒).

Edit: misread the "movement" bit, interview actually referred to spectator/crowd movement

For the most part though, pretty much the final nail in the coffin for Reddit dude. As I believe I said, it was a complete non-starter that the game would change depending on the device of the opponent (implying a different experience in each match), any game that did that would be dead on arrival. The whole goal of crossplay is to make the game device agnostic (i.e. where you don't know the device of the person you are playing against).

I don't think they'd release a football game in 2021 without multiple camera options, at least I hope they don't... cameras in general have been one of the most neglected aspect in the genre, at best we get a couple of new cameras every few years, and the customization options for the ones already in the game remain non-existant or bare bones, it's dissapointing.

Agreed, it's good to have a laugh every now and then, especially here with the lads!

That video looks interesting, I'll definitely give it a watch! I agree that the movement is definitely the most interesting part of the points he mentioned will be better on more powerful devices, hopefully it does mean more physicality (and fouls, for the love of God, Konami!), the main issue is exactly what you've mentioned about how we haven't seen it in the online test, and we also haven't seen it in the trailer, even if Konami has a version of the game with better graphics, animations, everything really, which I believe they might have, I don't understand why they haven't showed it yet, Konami's marketing seriously baffles me.

Unless I missed it, I think you're reading into the interview a bit? The only mention of movement I saw was about the crowd in the background:

That's...awkward. Yeah I misread it, I guess my inner optimist shone through for a moment. So really nothing even closely related to gameplay.

It does make me wonder how they are using Motion Matching though, one of the few things keeping me interested at this point.
