EA SPORTS FC 26

As usual with the sliders in this series, they do absolutely NOTHING. I put pass and shot error to 99 for a test. After 45 minutes, the AI had 96% pass accuracy whilst I had 93% and every shot by the AI was perfect.

I am not going to talk about the modding situation here though. I am going to let the heat die down before doing that. All I will say is. Hold off if you are only buying this game because you think mods will fix it.
I remember editing passing error through gameplay editing and all it did was made CPU AI play more safer passes. It still didn't make them have "error". It made them make more easier passes which is usually side to side and backwards. The slider probably works the same way. Error for CPU should only take into account after the code has detected that the CPU will pass. It shouldn't be the basis of playing a pass.

Can't believe there are exactly two decades between EAFC 26 and the release of FIFA 06. Not in my top 10 football games as my favorite, but its core was about enjoying football.

Such a great intro:

...fluid on the pitch, no twitching or skating, AI doing what's supposed to be done in a sports game; overall just on point football experience:

Again, released 20 years ago...

FIFA 06 was arcade football game done right. It did not feel like simulation but it did not feel brain dead either. Also scoring goals in these games were kinda hard as well. Just shooting the ball would rarely end up with a goal, aiming towards the edge of the posts would often end up with shooting the ball outside the goal posts. Passes are frequently intercepted by opposing teams as well. While not having too many fouls, AI would often get fouls+ card every other match.

Speaking of fouls, I love how the cutscenes were just aggressive. Every foul scene felt like a fight was about to start. And goal celebrations scenes were done nicely as well. Current FIFA games have awful camera angles for goal celebrations except for some of the signature celebrations.

Oh, and while not realistic at all, the player animations still looked more stable and less uncanny compared to current games, which is baffling.

We are human beings and it's impossible to not have expectations, loads of people had those even in 23-24 where there was no mention of a more realistic gameplay.. so, when they make half their trailer or something about a supposed "authentic mode" and they aren't even vague about it, but they are also very pompous with big words like "two separate teams working on it" (which was kind of a lie) and some good detailed argument, and then they deliver, well, what we are currently seeing, I guess it's normal to feel the need to vent a bit, or at least to note and comment with some disappointment. Should we stop falling for it? Probably yes, but while personally at this point I don't have much fate if any left in EA, I don't feel like blaming people for doing so.

However, from what I've observed here on Evoweb in the last few years, the sentiment is present/stronger in the first weeks/maybe first month and something, after that the thread goes calm and it's mostly people who finds some way to enjoy the game despite the shortcomings.

Do yourselves a favour and play efootball. Better than this turd. Played one game of the trial. Not fun or realistic at all. Granted efootball is also not amazing but it is a better football game on the pitch
Efootball is honestly one of the worst football games ever made. heavily scripted gameplay that makes it unbearable, and also the complete lack of content—no teams, no leagues, no licenses, no stadiums, and not even Master League mode. FC is definitely not the best either, but at least they’re actually trying to give something to the offline community with stadiums and licenses ..

Idon't why people keep comparing EA with Konami, it's so unfair, Konami it's just a past

I was chelsea
AI = legendary + competitive difficulty

Gameplay type - authentic mode

this video shows high potential when we later have more slider testing etc

The COM is really trying to do it's zigzaggy Ninja dribbling but it's like there's a parameter in authentic mode telling it to chill so it looks like there's conflicting instructions in the code preventing it from looking like natural behaviour.

There's still the 1v1 forcefield that stops you from pressing the COM in any useful manner.

Modern games are overloaded with animations. Just look at how much more natural the passes felt in FIFA 06. By now, I thought we’d be moving toward real video-like realism. Instead, we are asking EA to make them run, pass and position well

This feels like one of those crises created on purpose, just to have room to fix it later and take advantage of the time in between.

1:19:38 LSB slid half a meter on the icy pitch :LMAO:

The screenshot on your thumbnail is from FIFA 16, and it looks more realistic than 26. Unbelievable

Thought about purchasing the game but I'll probably wait until the "Black Friday weekend discounts" on Steam.
In the end, I think the game might be in a better place once I purchase it, with tons of time to read reviews, and perhaps DLC's which might fix some issues..
Anyway, hopefully the "Authentic Gameplay" by then will be more refined.

@Topaz as a side note, if you're finding PES 6 too easy, perhaps you might want to check this out. :TU:

Okay guys I'm debating on whether to buy this game or not is precision dribbling still part of the authentic gameplay because if it is this isn't worth full price.

Had a few games of the trial this morning, and I love what I'm playing. Definitely buying this one. In two matches, both ended in draws, I took the second one to penalties and won. The second match even had a red card for the AI, although I'd say it was harsh, so the ref must have thought it was a goal scoring opportunity or something. Had a few wee fouls in the midfield as well. Only complaints I have are the skating that players do when taking penalties is mental. And the lack of third kits for Championship sides isn't great, especially for teams like Leicester. Hope they come in a later update. Especially when teams like Wolfsburg have four kits. Absolutely loving the Authentic mode & how it feels. Definitely a lot more sim in my view, and I can feel it a little from the AI side also. They do make some weird decisions, but I think it's all in the aim of keeping possession of the ball. I'm not sure what changes gameplay updates will make, and I am nervous about that. But what I'm playing here and now feels good. To the point where I want to play another match

Spot on FC Bayern, I really cannot understand these comparing it to FIFA 06, which in its time was brilliant, because back then players could only move in the 8 directions, there was no 360 movement angles. Unless I'm wrong, but it was around about that era, FIFA 07 I think it was, where 360 direction analog movement came in.

Anyway, we have someone stating that "modern games have too many animations", well no shit Sherlock, I would never have deduced that.

FC 26 on my hardware, in CPU vs CPU view a match only mode, is a dream, so so much organicness going on in player movement and pass decision making.

Just pay £5 for a month's ea play and use it for the trial. You get 10 hours of play which should be enough to know if you want to drop £70 on it.

Got the game, It's awful but still better than FC25, we know they will soon ruin it with patches and destroy everything

It doesn't have any resemblance to real football, Three passes and you're in the opposition box. You can try playing with sliders and change the type of gameplays but it is a design choice and we can't do anything to bring back the midfield battles.

Every match is the same attack patterns because the players are set up like table football (Foosball), Just standing in two horizontal lines across the pitch which are easy to bypass with one simple ball.

All what you have to do is get the ball and stop, Press L1 for the runner to go beyond the defender in a straight line and pass it through, Rinse and repeat

There is a serious issue with defending and fouls, The game is missing a lot of basic football fundamentals and the AI scores with every shot on higher levels, The same floaty finish in the same spot of the net.

Another comment is on how bad the menus are, Really awful specially the tactics screens, So tedious.

It takes you 3 or 4 screens to get to replay something during the match, You go into highlighter and then will have to use the d pad to choose orbit cam, And it makes an annoying clicking noise while scrubbing the replay with r2/l2 .... Then when you leave and come back you have to do it all again, Really disgusting design.

They can have all the graphics they want and the bells and whistles in career mode, The action on the pitch isn't worth the price if you're an offline player.

Online I think it could be fun though

4/10

I hate EA. I've bought Ultimate Edition for 99,99 € and still couldn't play a single game. Absolute disgrace.

I'm experiencing a full system freeze after playing EA FC 26 for just 2 minutes. There’s no BSOD or crash report — the whole PC just locks up (sound stop but screens keeps showing a picture). Because of that, I thought it might be something GPU-related, maybe a driver issue or some setting that’s messing things up.

I’ve already tried lots of fixes, but nothing helped. Every time the game freezes and i have to shut off the pc by holding power button.

It’s a new PC build, and I haven’t had any issues with it before. It's only happening after 2-3 min while playing EA FC...

Hands off lads, don't buy it.

Just renewed my EA Play membership to unlock the 10 hour trial.

Must admit I was hoping to read through the first impressions on this thread and be pleasantly surprised, but it looks like an overwhelmingly negative experience so far.

I do think you need to get a feel for the game yourself. I didn’t mind FC25, but there was nothing there to grip me into a long term save and some of the fundamentals of the game were completely broken. FC26 does not seem like a major step change despite the promising introduction of Authentic Mode.

Hopefully I can play a couple of games tonight.

Make sure that your computer isn't overheating.. That could be an issue, which I solved with a program called Throttlestop.

LINK this might be helpful..

It is a 100 °C for some seconds only in the beginning when the game loads shaders. But in the menu its not overheating at all. After i switched to power saving mode, that was not the problem. But anyway thanks for sharing your solution, mate.

@sir_mamont oh ok, mate.. I would still recommend you using the program, because even if only for a few seconds, 100 degrees for a CPU might not be good for the computer! I've used it for years with no issues. (with the recommended configuration in the link above). Anyway, hope you can solve the overall issue.. :TU:

Im honestly jealous, really wanted to like it so i just had a football game i could play on console but the player movement is honestly the worst ive ever seen in a sports game period. How in 2025 there feet have no relation to the ground or physics is insane.
Same, feels so on rails and no inertia /randomness with the ball.

Gameplay aside, I'm really underwhelmed by the graphics & lighting on PS5. UFL looks better (that game is shit though)

I had just restarted the game. Among other things, I had done a squad update and then changed something in the game settings – unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what I changed.

Then I wanted to see if Barca's anthem was included. (It isn't.)
So I played a game for maybe a minute or two.

I don't know if it was a coincidence, but it seemed to me that the gameplay with manual passes had improved somewhat.
That is, passes no longer went exactly to the foot of the recipient. It wasn't like a magnet, from foot to foot.

So there was a noticeable increase in freedom.

Since I know that the latest editions of EA FC/Fifa often had life tuning updates that caused changes to the gameplay, that would be the only plausible explanation for me that this was also the case here.
But I'm not sure. Whether it was the placebo effect or actually something positive from EA.

In any case, if that was the case, it was heading in the right direction.

Please, please EA, don't mess this up!
I only bought EA FC 26 because of the authentic gameplay.

And the authentic gameplay can't be authentic enough!

This is just ridiculous

The comments under that tweet shows how ignorant people are about games.
"It shouldn't be realistic because it's a video game" says someone. Omg. Then by that logic all the games should be like super Mario.
And we wouldn't have a masterpiece like RDR2.

Guys, we're just fooling ourselves. We won't have the sim game we want under the same game.

Ea should make separate ea fc 27 and Fc ultimate games. And no, FC ultimate game shouldn't be free like efootball. Put a $90 price tag on it and they'll all buy it in a heart beat. Since money isn't a problem for them
