EA SPORTS FC 26

Sounds good so far. Deflections being random and determined by physics instead of magnetically falling back to the same player sounds much better.

Also liked these random events that can mess with your lineup before a game, reminds of the Champions League game back from 2007 which was more of a story mode than career.

Scenarios, random events, manager transfers, alive dressing room.. man, it's almost everything I've ever dreamed about in a career mode.

Please, please, please.. be decent and coherent on the field

Authentic gameplay CPU behaving exactly like the 1v1 shit FIFA/FC CPU.

Look at:

It was running behind the winger and illogically turned its attention towards player behind!
No one in actual football will ever do that!

It was apparent that authentic mode is basically EA devs using their internal sliders (that aren't exposed to us) with the code base being same between Competitive & Authentic. With this clip, its kind of proved!

BTW there are instances where it looks miles better than previous years but I guess it will take a few years before they implement some solid improvements for Authentic?
May be next year they bring actual animation system built from ground up for authentic? we are in right direction but definitely not there yet!

hold off the judgement until at least you seen which difficulty its on bro, but like you said dont expect perfection immediately after 1 year and same engine.

it is not 1vs1 but so called FC IQ, it has nothing to do with sliders or authentic mode.

In the Career Mode Deep Dive Pitch Notes, there's a Real Madrid gameplay clip where they score from kick-off...

This is after all the talk in the Career Mode Deep Dive video of "we know you want realism". Then, why are you so afraid of it?

EDIT: Someone who has played the game assures me this video was taken using "Competitive" gameplay.

Why? Well, the media clipping team (whose job it is to market the game) must believe it sells the game to show "amazing goals". Which won't be what the devs working on "Authentic" mode wanted.

Every pass Real hit is bullet-fast and sniper-accurate with no ball control needed to move on with the ball... The "Competitive" gameplay is absolutely disgusting.

DAMN! Thats a terrible video to include in pitch notes, after all the AUTHENTIC and "We know you want realism" talks!
KONAMI please release ML and save us! They have the gameplay (at least miles better than the current state FC in terms of physics etc)
But KONAMI wont release ML inspite of having the gameplay for it and well EA sports will do everything else but to focus on fundamentals i.e physics!
We all footy lovers are totally screwed!

EDIT: Relived that it was not Authentic gameplay!

I've edited my post as it's been confirmed to me by someone who's played the game that this clip was made using the "Competitive" gameplay. Which is a relief, but also, entirely stupid.

Here's a really interesting interview with the lead Career Mode developer - the gameplay clips are from FC25 but what he says is very interesting nonetheless:

EDIT: Something I really like about this video is the comment about "when FC25 launched, we had lots of comments from Career Mode players about how much they liked the new realism, but our 'Competitive' players hated it"... and that when they patched the game, they made Career Mode players hate it while 'Competitive' players started to enjoy it more...

It seems to be an acknowledgement that - as I've said for years - one gameplay base can't please both sets of users (hence the big split this year), and also that they simply kept tweaking it for the priority users (i.e. 'Competitive' players), rendering it terrible for us.

Chris just said that the video was not recorded in the authentic mode, read what he posted again, but I already saw that you are a Pes fan, it is unlikely that someone who comes from Pes likes FIFA, I guarantee you that you must not have liked FIFA 14 and 16, which was one of the best football games!

Exactly just having separated into 2 teams is already something unprecedented for any football game. Not even PES did that and continues to shit on offline players. I believe that if it continues like this with 2 teams each year we will have interesting improvements in authentic mode. This is already a victory for those who like football. Another thing is that anyone who loves PES Winning Eleven will never like FIFA. I say to the majority, PES has always been more "loose." FIFA, I say, has always been heavier. I've been playing since FIFA 98 and it's always been a different gameplay, it's a matter of taste!

Yes! definitely we are moving in the right direction!

Year 1: Simulation Sliders (basically a preset for sliders)
Year 2: Authentic Gameplay Preset (where they are using internal dev sliders probably, much better than Simulation Sliders)
Year 3: Animation Engine or something else built from ground up, respecting the physics even more? (They definitely will add more nuances to OFFLINE gameplay every year?)

The career mode will be very nice on paper.
"Authentique"gameplay is not ont a set of sliders. A french youtuber, a PES fan, have tried an pre beta version with 4 teams.

"Anthentique" in this version was too slow. Yes too slow. Do the gameplay on pitch note is not on "authentique" but "competiv".

MGH, another big Youtuber has the privilege to play the actual version of the game, not the pre beta. For him, it was really good. But it's a fanboy so only the beta will show us or not some really nice new gameplay tweaks !

Really hope what you’ve been told is right and if it is, it further strengthens my belief that they do have a clear idea the differences which should ultimately lead to progress offline.

Let’s hope.

One of the most frustrating aspects of FC25, at least for me, has been defending in general. In FIFA 23's tactical defending (which I finally kind of got the hang of), I was able to defend much more consistently by using second press, switching, and jockeying..
But FC 25's advanced defending, personally I just was never able to get the hang of (and it seemed to me like tactical defending in the game was quite broken, as opposed to FIFA 23).
But I have a faint hope that tackling and defending might be much more organic and not so much of a chore in FC 26 after watching this video. It's a faint hope, but a hope nonetheless.

Tackling and jockey has been given a huge overhaul. If you get tackled your player is taken out of the game for a few seconds. You need to give players an incentive to risk the standing or sliding tackle.

there is no mention of CPU behavioural sliders this year ? which is very odd.

What do you think has changed , since there is huge focus on individual manager playstyles but how can that matter if i can change it with CPU behavioral sliders ?

Looking at the footages, it looks like they downgraded the cloth physics again. They went out of their way to finally make it better on FC 24 and 25 only to downgrade it again? It looks worse than FIFA 14 now because the lower part of the shirt is almost stuck with the pants like a magnet even though it's untucked shirt. I guess they will bring it back when they release a new game for PS6 and tout it as a new feature, smh. Why do they even change something that's already working?

Number of times they brought and removed cloth physics:

FIFA 06 RTWC [2005 game].
Removed on WC 06 [2006]
Brought back on FIFA 07.
Downgraded on FIFA 09, further downgrade on 10.
Removed from 11 onwards.
FIFA 14 brought it back.
15 onwards got downgraded again.
FC 24 brought it back and now it's downgraded again.

At this point, I'd be just happy if they just take FIFA 10/16's gameplay and AI and just put in better graphics and new teams.

A factor may be that the high wind in FC25 made the kit look a bit dodgy

Hmm, instead of improving/fixing it, they just removed the physics. Ain't that nice. I do agree that the physics kinda looked a bit glitchy at times but it was better than having no physics. Right now the physics look worse than FIFA 14 and PES 14 both of which handled the bottom part of the shirts really well. It bounched up and down like you expect from a real football shirt or any untucked cloth for that matter. The fact that they always take the shortcut route and just make the bottom part stuck with the pants infuriates me. It just looks unnatural and sticks out like a sore thumb.

Back when I first saw those cloth physics on FIFA 14 and particularly PES 14, I thought we'd see only better physics over the years. But here we are 12 years later. Imo the overall visuals of PES 14-21 still looks better than current FIFA games. Last Frostbite engine FIFA game that actually looked kinda alright was FIFA 18 and FIFA 17 was the only one with that engine that actually looked visually pleasing to eyes.

I agree. Fifa 06 Xbox 360 was the one for me. I had seen it on some TV competition, and it made me excited to see actual cloth physics in a game. It was like the PES4 intro movie physics, put into a game. We've dealt with worse before though, so as long as gameplay is ok, I'm sure it can be overlooked a little

Yeah, the gameplay has to be exceptionally good to overlook those. Otherwise we already have games like FIFA 14, 16 etc where the gameplay is satisfying.

Although I'm getting less tolerant with these games as years go by because older games already set some standards in both gameplay and graphics. They have to maintain those standards, especially since it's been like 10+ years now [crazy to think it's been that long]. The second problem is that they aren't some indie/ small company. They are selling these games at 60-70$. So I expect a fully polished product at such price.

FIFA 06 x360's presentation still tops out everything else imo. The way the camera angles and cutscenes are animated you rarely wanna skip them because they have that actual broadcast feel to it. Too bad EA ditched on that immediately and never improved upon it. PES 04-05s intro videos still impresses me. We still haven't seen visuals like that to this date.

Anyways, imma hold my judgement until we get actual playable demo/trial. Hopefully they didn't not dumb down the physics and it's only in the trailers like that. I also hope the player movement feels better than whatever they introduced with hypermotion before. It just feels unsatisfying to dribble.

Extremely good point. I will take it into consideration in my opinion.

These shirt physics were the worst thing ever invented.
In reality, players wear tight-fitting shirts. There's no such thing as running and having the jersey behave like a bag of potatoes.

Look at this image from the high-mounted broadcast camera. Kylian Mbappé the fat man?

Captura de tela 2025-08-05 010242.png

Due to shirt physics, players become fat and bloated. It's horrible.
Yes, shirts pull, tear, and even move around the body. But you can't see this from 60 meters away.
The body models of PES characters are a thousand times more realistic.

Nothing compared to Fifa 08's sumos though
