EA SPORTS FC 26

where is the authentic gameplay on World class difficulty? i wish someone would just post that so we can get a glimpse.

the gameplay that can be released is going to be scarce, add to that the gameplay variants and well, it's going to be complicated to see what we all want to see.

None of these videos are of authentic gameplay, so there is no basis, since Ea made practically 2 games in 1, there is no basis at all, in the recognized gameplay there are several animations that are not present in the real fut, from ball protection to the end of the 1x1 defense, let's wait and see if any video comes out!

Managed to get my hands on the beta and played a couple of games this evening (no videos i'm afraid)

*As a caveat, I'll add that i didn't mind fc25 all that much and do have a tendancy to miss some negative things if im not looking for them but from what I experienced (authentic gameplay with the default 'authentic' slider settings):

- Opposition defence is far more...alive and it makes a big difference. It closes gaps, chases you down and can be tough to beat. Eg I didn't experience those situations where you cut in from the wing with the ball and the opposition defenders on the edge of the box just stand and watch you. It did occasionally make mistakes though, like moving too early resulting in gaps to explot (reminded me a little of Fifa 15 and 16 in that regard) but i can live with that.
- The weight feels improved, certainly in dribbling. It felt less twitchy than in other recent Fifa/fc games, where the ball is kinda attached to your player while he jerks around unaturally.
- Some really nice collision animaions with players wrestling each other for the ball and falling to the ground, as well as natural deflected touches which really matched the animation that was playing out.
- In the beta at least, the lighting looked much much better/more natural than it has in a while.

Overall impression was really good and will likely be even better with some custom sliders on top of the authenic features. There's still some Fifaishness in there but it's an improvement.

I played an hour of Authentic Gameplay and yes, when changing to Authentic from Competitive; slider values change and they are locked. You can fine tune the values when changing to custom.

All games were played on Legendary with Player Based Difficulty: ON

Goalkeepers: Animations this year are really good for keepers, quite a few of the saves were strong handed and palmed around or over the goal instead of the typical, smash it at the keeper and hope for a rebound goal. Goalkeepers positionally are better than FC25. I did concede two rebound goals in one game. It is what it is lol.
One issue that currently remains is 1v1 vs the goalkeepers. You’re through on goal and they just don’t know how to react. They are just stuck. An issue that’s carried over into this beta from FC25

Defending: I play defending without any assists, no auto tackles or clearances etc. And it’s not that bad, and can be quite challenging. I played one game against Madrid and Vini JR tore me to shreds, consistently. I like that. There wasn’t a lot of skill moves from him, just exploiting gaps. In terms of playing against the defence, it felt more structured and tougher to break through. No doubt the more I play the more things I’ll be able to notice.

Attacking: Now this is where it gets confusing from an AI standpoint. Liverpool get a corner, ball comes in it’s headed away, they eventually work the ball around the box then a gap opens, The ball is perfectly rolling outside the box for the player to strike the ball at goal. My centre backs are parted like Moses parting the RedSea; A true Gerrard moment could cap off some good play. It’s completely ignored and they try tiki taka when there is literally no point.

In the same game, Salah through on goal defender isn’t gonna catch him, he decides to pass backwards. Not sideways, literally backwards. Just hit the ball!! The AI are creating pieces of great play but it’s ruined because it’s like they don’t know what to do next when there’s a chance.

Dribbling, it’s good, it’s responsive. It works. You ain’t gotta be flashy to beat your man, feints, ball roll, shielding and just the left stick dribble is good enough. R1/RB dribble is slowed down there’s a lot more room to tackle or be tackled as your foot isn’t as glued to the ball.

Shooting is decent, it looks great when you see the newer animations. Power shots look amazing. If you have the wind setting on, you can fire some cool looking knuckleballs.
Also a fan favourite mechanic is back from FIFA 17; the low driven shot which is triggered when pressing shoot and then shoot again before contact is made with the ball. I’m so glad timed finishing is removed from the game.

Presentation in the game is phenomenal. When the full game is released and everything is updated to the newest season, it’s gonna look superb. Again; atmosphere it’s the best in any football game and will continue to be. Crowds are now in sync with chants, you’ll see the crowd bouncing all around, it’s really cool when you have the EA Gamecam setting on when you play.

Will play more tomorrow!

Interesting goal net position

I’m genuinely excited for this year, the authentic mode and the general improvements looks to bring a more pleasing experience. The proof is in the pudding, but I like the thought of better keepers, natural deflections and tighter defending.

Oh and the nets are phenomenal

Thanks for the feedback, the observation about attackers being a bit dumb when there's a blatant chance is concerning as I don't think I had that issue in 25. It's reminiscent of PES 6 AI where they don't try to score when there's a blatant opening.

Did you try both authentic & competitive modes to compare & if so, did you notice much of a difference?

Does authentic mode feel as reasonably realistic as EA proclaim it to be?

About the AI chances as explained in the video about the gameplay of the game if I'm not mistaken there are new slides where we can change this in the game, apparently the best way to play will be with custom sliders as always!

The attacking AI being braindead has been an issue since FIFA 23 where they are constrained to only scoring by playing 100 passes around the box. Shame it's still the case. Thankfully some modding does help this issue. It's also because attacking positioning in general is very static. Nothing to this day beats FIFA 17 when it comes to attacking positioning.

This, togheter with CPU absence of awareness/tacticality/1vs1 curse and so on, has probably been my biggest concern with the new course. Man it wouldn't feel real if they really fixed both enough to be enjoyable again.
A friend who is beta testing has told me, on "Authentic Mode", they had a player needing to take three touches of a ball to control a long pass to him.

It's such a basic thing, such a fundamental of real football that you'd be tempted to sarcastically say "wowww amazing, what's next, shots that miss?"

But the fundamentals have been horrible in FC since the start; laser-passing etc. (which makes all the "fluff", like how unique every shot outcome is, pointless).

So, actually, that's pretty great, right? That's not something they'd have added before because it's completely "anti-Competitive" (because the user can't press any buttons to make that ball control easier, therefore it's SO UNFAIR). So this is new territory - and more than just sliders slowing down the game etc...

Look, don't get me wrong, I don't think FC26 is going to be the best football game ever (every clip of "Competitive Mode" is absolutely shocking, horrendous gameplay that looks like it was taken out of those PS2 games like "Club Football" and "Pure Football" which were horrendously simplifield, barebones gameplay experiences, and I just can't understand how anyone could enjoy it - taking that as your base and "fixing it" is going to take a lot of work).

But I really do feel like this gameplay split, with two separate teams working on two separate gameplay models (fully walled-off from each other), was the only chance of us getting an enjoyable football experience again - so, let's be fair, that deserves a lot of credit (our dollar is worth less than the FUT guys').

I regard this as the start, and I hope it keeps evolving from here. Who knows, maybe one day we'll get "FC Competitive 2030" and "FC Authentic 2030" as two separate games and two revenue streams for EA that prove the desire for it, with investment that allows it to really reach the next level.

...a man can dream.

EDIT: It sucks that we can't play "Authentic Mode" online though. If you could play all the online modes with "Authentic Mode" gameplay, just imagine how awesome that would be. I really resent that the attitude seems to be "only friendless old-school 40-somethings who play against the AI in their parents' basements want this", because how do you know the vast, silent majority wouldn't prefer a football game that felt like football if you've never given it to them?

Thank you for the insight on Authentic Mode.
If possible can you please expand on your friends feedback (on Authentic mode) later?
Midfield tracking back, whats the average scoreline? R1/finesse driblling still present (where you R1 dribble and CPU doesnt tackle you) etc etc
Totally agree that this is a great start.

We need to give it to EA this time. Inspite of earning millions from FUT, they still did the gameplay split. (So there is still hope for offline gamers!)

For those of you who have played the beta, how is tackling? Is it more natural/improved in this early version (at least going back to FIFA 23?) Do tackles have more of a natural dispossessing effect or is it still the coinflip it was in FC25? (to me this is the biggest flaw in all 3 types of defending in FC25). Also, do players engage more directly when jockeying up close? Thanks for your observations.

Damned I want to play this beta with "authentique" mode, with "authentique sliders" on Fuma.
What said Chris give me hope, Johanna :P
But I have only found shitty gameplay even on "Authentique". Many people didn't used the authentique sliders and have 50 on all the sliders.
It's just horrible to watch!

Many people who leaked videos play on easy difficulty in competitive mode... 🤡
It's like that every year and I never understand why

Authentic mode- world class difficulty
Career mode video

gameplay starts at 23 min !

(just dont know if next gen version or not, might be ps4)
having watched all 3 matches - i feel like its still does not look right.
i still think players are too snappy in the turns and quick passes look weird
I also feel like world class AI - not smart and letting alot of runs in easily.

Hope this is a Beta old gen version issue and i can already tell we gona need custom sliders to adjust it if it remains the same.

Doesn't look good at all to be fair. Ball control still looks ass and defenses, well, kinda still sucks (look, for example, at Aké calmly watching Neves running and scoring at 52:35 without showing any reaction.. the textbook case that made lose every satisfaction in scoring).

We can say it's World Class level, but this stuff looks like the sad old of the last years that shouldn't happen regardless (not at the level before Legendary, by the way).

Maybe I had too high expectations, and I certainly will need to watch more videos of it (maybe it's also old gen and next gen will be decisively better? Just want to be as positive as I can), but if (IF) it's the general mood of 26, I guess it sadly won't be for me for another year.
