EA SPORTS FC 25

I am now most of the way through the trial, found a decent balance of Professional difficulty playing as Swansea in the EFL or whatever the f they call it now, I suppose I just got a bit better and now AI defending is pure (though bad) comedy, if I get a guy up the wing I have one guy on my tail and the rest of the defenders just don't bother with doing anything so I always have someone free to pass to. The only thing stopping me from murdering games is my inability to cross worth a damn.
I tried switching to Blackburn and had the most mental game, ended 5-5. Still wasn't bad but again the AI defense is just dreadful.
Had a quick look at women's CL, they were zipping around the pitch at an alarming rate because of course the game decided I no longer wanted Simulation sliders. Even turning it back on I saw little difference, maybe the game just doesn't recognize a mid game change like that? It wouldn't surprise me because there are so many weird ass bugs. Blinking R2 I can't press will haunt my dreams for some time to come and not being able to change the camera for single player is such a ridiculous thing to not have fixed yet (I know about the multiplayer cam fix).
Playing on manual seems pretty good but I did have to switch to assisted for through passes because otherwise they take ages to execute. I also switched to assisted shooting and heading at least to begin with and like I said before all my crosses are crap so that seems to be a learning curve.
Going forward, if I actually purchase this it will likely be when there is a discount. I will have to move up to World class because that AI defending on Pro is just a big no no.
I love that there is a wind element, but I wish I could just set it and turn it up to freaking 11. Way to many games are scared of introducing random elements to gameplay probably because people would whine about it not being fair. IDGAF, give me the setting to play the scene below or gtfo

I don't know why but I enjoy championship matches a lot on world class with simulation settings. Everything feels more calm and natural, also playing on camera that is closer to the pitch you can see some touches and actually have control over dribling and you can catch your opponent on wrong foot which I never thought I will experience in fifa game.
As much as I play this game feels completly different than fc24. Yeah there is stuff to fix but they made big leap forward with the sim mode and how it plays.

R1/RB (HOLD) while running, when you find the space/direction you want "aim" that way and hit R2/RT twice.
XBOX: RB+> to RB+v+RT(x2) would be a 90 degree turn, down. with the above effect (although I don't know that it works at 90 degrees)

All it's doing is transitioning from technical dribble to a knock on.
Knocks on work with either RS in the same direction twice or R2/RT, R2 is shorter I believe, but also a lot easier to control the direction of.

Not sure if it is a feature of Legendary being overpowered but the AI wingers just knock it past my fullbacks at lightning speed and there’s not much I can do about it 🤷‍♂️ Even when I drop off or jockey, it still happens.

I think it's more that defending is very flawed on this game because you can't defend as a team no matter how hard you try. Defending rely on structure and anticipation from your team mates & narrowing the final 3rd. In this game, you'll notice that no matter what, you defenders will be spread out, not marking and ball watching because of 1v1.
 
I captured this on PS5. I did so originally because I thought the very late audience and commentary response was funny where the developers don't seem to have realized that the ball can hit the crossbar and not go immediately out of play. But when I watched it again I noticed how one of the defenders gets stuck doing an Irish jig and therefore completely loses his man.


It looks like the AI player is so focused on following the ball that he just ignores the more pressing duty of shadowing his man. The split second I cross the ball the dancing prat is released from his dance routine.
It is on Professional, but still.

I like this game more than what i thought at my first trial, but this nosense 1vs1 A.i...
Manual tackling is very rewarding but it has nothing to do with 1vs1, because it could be there even with 11vs11 a.i.
I hate Ea for giving so much attention to u.t players, because this game could be the best football game ever with not so big tweaks,and removing 1vs1 should be the first one. The second should be have a more pronunced first touch with ball less glued to feet.
I can stay with animations,they are overall very good,and High responsivness isn't a bad thing if we have 11 players working togheter to keep the ball possession back..
 
others have my problem that after loading the career mods the game no longer lets me enter this mode but sends me out of the game to the desktop? I also tried reinstalling FC25 but nothing worked.

Sorry mate, I did not get a chance to respond yesterday but you are right - As much as I am enjoying this game you cannot deny that the 1v1 element is still hugely flawed.

I played a couple more games last night and there was an example where my fullback was containing the AI’s winger near the touchline. It was a counter attack and the AI had several players bursting forward through the middle. My two CBs were running back with them but then they just stopped and started jogging.

It meant that the AI winger had two or three players completely free in the middle of our box.

In a real life scenario, the defenders would be busting a gut to run back and split the attackers or cut off the passing lanes. In EAFC, the 1v1 means they just totally switch off 🤦🏻‍♂️
 
I like the build up and finish but what an earth is the CB doing near the penalty spot, he's just jogging along watching. This type of behaviour and probably related to 1v1 defending is why I definitely won't buy it. It's just ridiculous.

    • This change is most noticeable for players with high passing Attributes.
  • Greatly reduced potential accuracy of Trivelas.
  • Greatly increased width of the defensive line for 5 defender formations.
  • Reduced potential accuracy of Driven Passes.
  • Increased the frequency of attacking runs for AI players in the following roles: Shadow Striker, Inside Forward Attack, Inside Forward Roaming, WIde Playmaker Attack, and Wingbacks in scenarios with open space ahead of them.
  • Improved AI player decision making when considering diagonal runs into open space, and when considering runs into nearby open space.
  • Improved accuracy of shots taken in situations where the player is not being pressured and generally has a clear line of sight on goal, including 1 on 1 situations and open goals.
  • Improved AI Center Back decision making when attempting to provide a safe option for a pass.
  • Improved AI player recognition of offside situations.
  • The CPU AI will look to further prioritize passing during build up play instead of dribbling.
  • Reduced the speed of some slide tackling animations.

The non-existent defending and midfield engagement is a game breaker for me despite all the bells and whistles

Every player is trapped in a designated square box of turf and they never leave it whatever happens around them lol

Add to that the lack of midfield battle and loose balls and you get a highly polished but typical FIFA experience (feels like table football or foosball)

I assure you updates will ruin it even further as usual

  • Sometimes after using the Rewind functionality, the EA connect widget can appear during gameplay
  • When connecting online in Kick Off, Main Menu settings could have overwritten Kick Off settings.
  • Some Tactical Suggestions did not display the Substitutions option.
  • In Kick Off some player roles were not highlighted when playing them in their preferred position.
  • Addressed instances of UI not displaying or functioning as intended.
  • In Learn To Play Rush, the game could have started on a full-size pitch.
  • [Xbox Only] The Online Seasons Leaderboard did not update correctly.
  • In Kick Off, the CDM role was not shown as an option in some formations.
  • When switching the player role from Goalkeeper to an outfield position in the create Avatar screen, the option to change gloves was not available.
  • The Lob Pass Skill Game did not always calculate scoring correctly.
Great work Ea has been doing, this update is very promising
 
I hope they mean that AI defenders are not tracking player with ball

1v1 isn't going to be fixed in a title update. Or ever, I would imagine, given that its core game design.

Lots of promising things in the update, but can't help but worry that the changes to attacking runs (whilst it makes sense) are going to result in higher scorelines in sim mode - and that we'll then have no way to "undo" the changes to it.
