EA SPORTS FC 25

Frustration with the game, because its so close to being a great footy game if they fixed the defensive issues (or I guess in EA's eyes its a feature). Yes the game has a lot of positives, but in the end its a mostly a false sense because the game plays slower and the AI decision making has improved slightly, but the big issue is and always be the passiveness of the defense.

My defenders just stare, walk back and pretty much wait next to the keeper. There is no urgency for the ball. I keep trying sliders and yes they improve so much as well as the sim setting but when you see a goal scored, most goals scored I say "why isnt the defense engaging". I went back to Fifa 22 and feel it wasnt so dead brain obvious.

I still have fun with the game dont get me wrong, and Ill prob get it on sale, but its hard to get pumped when scoring when you see the defense play out like that, it feels cheap. Looking forward to the update, though.

On another note, I just played as Borussia Dortmund with the yellow kit and the referee decided to wear a yellow kit as well, fun times...
 
The non-existent defending and midfield engagement is a game breaker for me despite all the bells and whistles

Every player is trapped in a designated square box of turf and they never leave it whatever happens around them lol

Add to that the lack of midfield battle and loose balls and you get a highly polished but typical FIFA experience (feels like table football or foosball)

Maybe go re-play FIFA 14-17, PES 2-6, PES 17-18, reassess what a game can be. No one is bloody moving in EAFC25 except the 1 guy with the ball. Everything is so static and lifeless.

Anyway....

I read EA are gonna add a thing like mypark, The Park, whatever it's called in NBA2K23?

Im by no means a decent player and on WC I’m finding it hard to find space/score on WC/Sim. It’s the toughest FIFA game for a very long time imo. I think I might need to go to professional at times as my first 10 league games have resulted in 3 x1-0 wins, 1x 1-1 and 6x 0-0 playing 6 minute halve. I might choose professional on the lower ranked teams and switch to WC when laying the top 8 and champions league perhaps. Anyone else finding space and goals hard to come by using these sort of settings?

Overall I think it’s great fun on sim.

I don’t love the game by any stretch. Haven’t bought it after playing the trial but may when it goes on sale at some point.

However, the videos don’t really convey how the games feels. I agree the vids look bad and I wasn’t even going to play the trial but it is better than it appears in the vids.

Having said that, there are enough issues preventing me shelling out for it so make of that what you will.

Yep you can do it on either a shot or a long pass, power the Square/Circle and then press X (if using a PS4 controller).

From the default camera, my player career character has a bald patch at all times - my trial has now expired but I assume it's the same!

On this subject, I wonder why the hairstyles (and other creation elements) are numbered from 1 to 500 but at random intervals...

I was really happy when I saw "hairstyle 392" or whatever - I thought "wow, they've really expanded on the few available last year" - but in reality there's about, what, 50? There's no way there's 450 unlockable hairstyles, right?

I am not completely sure it still works this way, but super cancel on FIFA used to be L2+R2/LT+RT.

thing is , on world class, for me anyway-too hard to score, barely scored more than once however on professional far too easy. need a middle ground really..

I don't know how easy that is in every case - I manually saved a Player Career game, accidentally pressed "play highlights" before the next match, so quit the game (which forfeits the match) and when I reloaded my manual save, it was after that match... Didn't test it again before my trial expired!

I always keep three manual saves I rotate and IIRC it autosaves after every match and keeps two-three of those on a rotation too? But yeah that's on PC, consoles could be different...

It reminds me of Anth's HUGE ball test fbmod, I was only having a fun game with that last night with his FC25 mod. Seeing this at first made me think its another option, this time as "Strong Wind and Flying Adboards NORMAL and SLOW versions" Optional addon by him!!
 
Does anyone else feel at the moment on WC all the COM does this spray it to a winger, and just sprint, sprint and sprint and you can't get anyone near them because your defenders are always just so damn far away from the opponent?

Makes me wanna put the controller down until they reach the by-line and I think, "Oh goody, I'll just wait for the idiot to sprint off the pitch and I'll get possession back!"

Not so much tbh, I just don’t get any space to create chances on WC
 
There's a fine line between using sliders to curate your own match experience and what actually the AI and tactics do to affect the CPU.

All teams play low block on WC sitting in their own six yard box even if you change the sim settings to tactical or custom, If you raise the def line in the sliders then all teams will behave the same.

One more thing, Player individuality may exist in the way they run or turn but after 2 or 3 games you'll easily realize that all players follow the same pattern, They take the same shots and most goals are identical unfortunately.

I still never felt the need to bring on a a tactical sub or add a certain type of player (a big man up front, Or an aggressive defensive midfielder) because the game follows one boring pattern, All subs are coz of fatigue or injuries.

Foul count is a joke as well.

In my experience, the cpu never sat deep on wc. City pushed up. Dorrmund defended on the half way line. Is this down to updates?

Gameplay​

Made the following changes:

  • Reduced accuracy of First Time Lobbed Through Passes including when performed at extreme angles.
    • This change is most noticeable for players with high passing Attributes.
  • Greatly reduced potential accuracy of Trivelas.
  • Greatly increased width of the defensive line for 5 defender formations.
  • Reduced potential accuracy of Driven Passes.
  • Increased the frequency of attacking runs for AI players in the following roles: Shadow Striker, Inside Forward Attack, Inside Forward Roaming, WIde Playmaker Attack, and Wingbacks in scenarios with open space ahead of them.
  • Improved AI player decision making when considering diagonal runs into open space, and when considering runs into nearby open space.
  • Improved accuracy of shots taken in situations where the player is not being pressured and generally has a clear line of sight on goal, including 1 on 1 situations and open goals.
  • Improved AI Center Back decision making when attempting to provide a safe option for a pass.
  • Improved AI player recognition of offside situations.
  • The CPU AI will look to further prioritize passing during build up play instead of dribbling.
  • Reduced the speed of some slide tackling animations.
  • Slightly increased clearance accuracy.
  • Reduced Ground Pass and Through Pass ball velocity in wet weather.


Addressed the following issues:

  • During some long distance shots and corners, goalkeepers faced away from the ball unintentionally.
  • In some cases, defenders could have turned and faced away from the ball instead of trying to intercept a pass.
  • Right Wing Inside Forward AI players did not always position themselves as intended.
  • Improved referee decision making when calling for fouls and penalty kicks.
  • During a match, Half Wingers could not have changed sides when swapped with their counterparts in Team Management.
  • Players could have sometimes lost the ball too easily when making physical contact during a Skill Move.
  • In some scenarios goalkeepers were attempting to punch or deflect the ball instead of catching it.
  • Some passes could have resulted in the ball traveling faster than intended.
  • The CPU AI incorrectly ignored certain Skill Moves and did not perform them.
  • When remaining in control of the ball after a tackle attempt by the defender, a requested Lob Pass could have taken longer to execute than intended.
  • Some passes could have been more accurate than intended.
  • Improved animations that can occur when performing short passes.
  • In rare scenarios, the user could have lost control of a player receiving a pass.
  • During Set Pieces, an incorrect off the ball player animation could have occurred.
  • Goalkeepers could have sometimes unintentionally dived the wrong way when attempting to make a save.
  • In some dribbling situations, the CPU AI did not attempt to challenge for the ball against a user controller player.
  • In rare cases, goalkeepers could have gotten stuck around their goal posts when attempting to make a save.
  • Sometimes, automatic clearance animations were occurring outside of intended heading and goal line clearance situations.
  • The CPU Slider for Skill Moves previously only applied to Legendary difficulty.
  • Improved goalkeeper animations when dribbling with the ball.
  • The ball could have passed through a goalkeeper in some rare scenarios.
  • In some rare situations, players’ feet could have gotten stuck around goal posts instead of attempting to hit the ball.
  • During Rush penalties, the goalkeeper could have sometimes moved off the line and gotten stuck.
  • During Rush corners, players could have incorrectly positioned and continuously readjusted themselves until the corner was taken.
  • In certain scenarios, the opposing goalkeeper could have been controlled during set pieces by all players in a match.
  • During penalty kicks, players outside of the box did not always perform the correct idle animations.
  • When a Free Kick timed out, sometimes the automatic action could have resulted in a pass instead of an inaccurate shot.
  • Players could have run up directly to the set piece taker in some scenarios, ignoring the minimum distance they must keep.
  • Sometimes, sliding or falling shot animations could have occurred unintentionally.
  • In some cases, defenders going to ground could have applied more pressure to the ball carrier than intended.
  • Addressed instances of player switching not functioning as intended.

Career Mode​

Made the following changes:

  • The Simulation gameplay preset is now the default for new Career Mode saves.
  • Added multiple settings when creating a new Career Mode save, including the ability to disable Club Growth Board Objectives.


Addressed the following issues:

  • Improved Growth Plan logic for secondary positions in Manager Career.
  • Addressed instances of social media posts not displaying as intended.
  • Youth Academy goalkeepers had lower Diving Attributes than intended.
  • Addressed an instance of conversations interrupting Calendar time advancement.
  • Youth Academy surnames could have repeated too often.
  • Sometimes in Manager Career, the Player of the Month award was not present.
  • In Player Career, created Players were not always displaying incorrectly.
  • Addressed instances of incorrect camera angles.
  • Addressed instances of Manager customization not displaying as intended.
  • In some cases, the Transfer tab could have been inactive.
  • Improved some UI transitions.
  • A stability issue could have occurred when firing a Scout.
  • Improved social media comment context.
  • The audio for goal sounds could play at inconsistent volumes.
  • Updated Youth Academy player body types.
  • Addressed visual issues when customizing players.
  • Addressed an instance of an incorrect task present in Women’s Player Career.

General, Audio, and Visual​

Made the following changes:

  • Updated some art and UI elements, balls, badges, placeholder text, QR codes, kits, accessibility settings, stadia, audio and commentary, crowds, star heads, camera angles, and visual effects.


Addressed the following issues:

  • Sideline players and staff did not always react to shots as intended.
  • During Tournament matches, an NPC could have appeared standing in the middle of the pitch.
  • Adjusted the timing window for Suggested Tactic pop ups in game.
  • Addressed instances of incorrect lighting.
  • Sometimes after using the Rewind functionality, the EA connect widget can appear during gameplay
  • When connecting online in Kick Off, Main Menu settings could have overwritten Kick Off settings.
  • Some Tactical Suggestions did not display the Substitutions option.
  • In Kick Off some player roles were not highlighted when playing them in their preferred position.
  • Addressed instances of UI not displaying or functioning as intended.
  • In Learn To Play Rush, the game could have started on a full-size pitch.
  • [Xbox Only] The Online Seasons Leaderboard did not update correctly.
  • In Kick Off, the CDM role was not shown as an option in some formations.
  • When switching the player role from Goalkeeper to an outfield position in the create Avatar screen, the option to change gloves was not available.
  • The Lob Pass Skill Game did not always calculate scoring correctly.

I played with my custom sliders since the beggining. I've got differents styles of strategies from the CPU. The variety is hear. Sometimes, I have many troubles to pass the midfield line, sometimes I have more freedom and the marking is strong in the CPU area.

I have played an half season with Marseille on Legend and the other half on World Class.
I'm still appreciate this EA FC 25.
 
I played exclusively on sim mode. Only juve really sat deep against me. I shouldn't have said never. I meant rarely.

Most games I played had a reasonably good shape. It's disappointing regardless. Deep defences is one of my 'red lines'.

I'm still enjoying it just as much on legendary sim mode, FUMA. Having loads of low scoring games (I'm certainly not scoring many) and facing lots of teams with different styles of play. I've been doing a championship career mode but I played some kick off games with top sides last night and I found the pacing nice even when it was a little faster with the top players.

As I previously stated, plenty of flaws with the game but I honestly think it's a million times better than last year's monstrosity and it's just nice not to be playing Pes 21 after something like 2000 hours with its very tired looking animations.

Let's see what this title update does. I'm confident they won't mess with sim mode too much, especially if they're making it the default setting for career mode.
 
I do feel one of the problems on WC is it feels like almost every team either plays with a low block or defenders just sit in a very neat line and it's like taking shots at a wall of players a lot of the time.

Playing on WC, sim mode, with Danielz's gameplay mod (free version) and I'd say it's a mix in the Championship, some play low block, some can be countered and caught quite high up the pitch. There's a lot of real life teams that play a low block in the Championship so it feels good and right to me.
 
Personally, I am still feeling a variety to the games and approaches from the AI.

I played a few games last night - The first two games were against mid table teams, for some reason they both tried to attack and played quite high lines. We just kept getting in behind and won quite comfortably.

I then had back to back games against Anderlecht and Genk, two of the better teams in the league. They were much more compact and difficult to breakdown. I had to do a lot of side to side and backwards passing to open up gaps or scoring opportunities.
 
Sometimes the AI when he has the ball at his feet and I get close to him, he does a shoulder charge that looks really good, he almost separates himself from the ball to charge me and several times he pushes me out of place or throws me to the ground. Does anyone know how to do it?
