EA SPORTS FC 25

I can see why people like these simulation settings. It’s a step forward.

HOWEVER, it takes more than slowing things down to make it look like a real football match.

In these videos there is ALWAYS somebody to pass to. That’s just not the case in real football.

And why is the ball still glued to the player in control most of the time?
The glue is the highest problem in this game.
Without glue you cant sprint and stop quickly, cant control the ball etc but thats Fifa

Have to say, between watching that footage and the state eFootball is in, I feel more and more like I should check out from football games for a few years yet.

It does look pretty good, but there is something about animation in both titles (and UFL, for that matter) that as the years pass seems miles off.

Something is missing from the all the games aesthetically now. Never really thought that before until the last few years. I look at that vid and just feel I am going to be playing the same looking thing again, though, in fairness to EAFC24, it did get 5 seasons of Career Mode out of me, which is not a terrible return on investment.

That POV camera is...something. I always wanted a camera like that for BAL on PES, but I imagine without the correct controls, it would be difficult to use. Maybe FPS controls would be ok, but then it takes the trick stick away from the right.

I think in a replay though, it takes away a little from the 'TV style' of the 'broadcast' they go for with the presentation and commentary. The closest I can think of it is when the players wear the go-pro in pre-season friendlies. I'm thinking to Koln v Milan a few seasons back
Yeah I don't like the move away from realistic TV style presentation, but I'm not sure if they're still interested in that, commentary in recent games from limited play, sound awful to me.

I used the AI Behavior Dynamic and felt the most difficult and unpredictable matchs, I had a game that the CPU did everything to not have a game. Strong and aggressive marking on interception.
from latest beta video posted I see behavior from the ai play differently in a positive way. it's not perfect but much better than eafc 24 and previous itterations of the game. I hope we can have at least something to play this year and enjoy carrer mode.

And once again, because of lack an alternative, I bought FC 25 for full price, while not spending ANY money on eFootball since it exist. Normally I would spend that money on another PES, but apparently their casino is such a money machine so they don't care.

unfortunately it is the only least worst option we have, I recently tried to play classic games again like pes 5 and 6 but the AI is very unchallenging in addition to having few moves, in general if we are to analyze coldly pes 5 and 6 are classics but far from be something like a simulation in addition to being too easy, so the only option we have is pes 21 forever or accept it and go for it

Pes21 is more easy than old ones... when i come back to Pes21 after played for some time on old ones,i am able to play better,lol..
Plus, even if It has more animations,360 dribblings etc... It is way more dull, predictable and monodimensional.

Anyways my hope for fc25 are very low. 1vs1 is a too much invasive problem to avoid.

The problem with old games like 6 and 5 is that the AI is very predictable due to the limitations of the time, it doesn't have many variables and I've already memorized all the moves that the AI makes, there are few, we have to be honest that for the time it was an excellent game but it is totally nostalgic nowadays it would be a very limited game of variations and realism!

This could hopefully improve the sliders especially the crossing one

New CPU Sliders added to FC25:

  • Tackle Aggression
  • Buildup Speed
  • Shot Frequency
  • First Touch Pass Frequency
  • Crossing Frequency
  • Dribble Frequency
  • Skill Move Frequency
Tactics for teams can have a code generated so we can import for each team if ea don't implement them for us.

Yeah exactly this. I wrote a FIFA 14 article and said a similar thing to improve the game. These are the exact ideas I had. Cos it should be easy to have sliders per team/per player. I used the example of knowing Messi IRL on average attempts a dribble 9 times per game, 3 key passes per game, shoots 5 times per game, operates in these areas, like a heat map but pre game so he operates their every match. Then set the sliders to those values.

No excuse why this wasn't done 10-15 years ago. As otherwise all teams and players are too alike and AI are then boring to play.

With the tactics being importable would be like when klashmann used to do for pes. It would be class to have for example all premiership teams play the way they do in real life. Fingers crossed 🤞 hopefully we can customise and tweak

I met a Fifa producer at the very first game conference held in Singapore in 2008 and I said to him then that 1. they should add an aggression slider and 2. if you foul a player the crowd should boo you, and neither were ever added...

if these work on consoles, that would bring new life to carrer mode and will bring new players for sure.

These are basically old tactical sliders that were customizable for every teams separately before fifa19.

Guys, I still see too much optimism in your posts in this thread. Once again, it's the same time of year—September—when your excitement starts to build. I get it because I fall for it every year too. "I hope EA has finally introduced slower, more realistic gameplay.", " It seems like this time, they’ve gotten it right", " it finally looks better, and it feels like they’ve come to their senses. Maybe this will be a decent year for a new football game!."

But no. Remember, it always gets ruined by the day-one patch or whatever update comes later. That "more realistic" gameplay tempo is quickly destroyed, and we're back to the same old ping-pong style that we've had for the last six years. They know you'll buy it because you're hopeful something has changed. But once they have your money, they'll cater to the FUT players all over again.

Even though they’ve introduced a realistic gameplay mode, different sliders, and more options to customise how we want the game to feel—nope, it’s all nonsense. It’s just another nicely packaged piece of shit and garbage that won’t change anything, or it will become unplayable later on, just like the so-called "slower" gameplay speed that renders defence useless.

DO NOT TRUST EA!

Today just of curiosity played english championship game Hull vs Leeds (me) and selected artificial grass. I was blown away how different player animations and the whole match flows. It's not night and day difference but there is difference for sure! Championship teams play much slower football and animations weren't hectic like playing with top teams players. Only downside were lower defensive stats so you can easily break their defence through the middle with faster players but if you play football like real match and try to build attacks you will have rewarding gameplay both offensive and defensive.
I just hope they follow this recipe for the new simulation mode they introduce with eafc 25.
I will continue to play lower league teams until then becouse I can't remember when I was this much satisfied from football match on a ps5.

The one hope with all of this is that "sim mode" remains sacred and unaffected by FUT updates... which, if sim mode is good, negates this concern.

Call me an optimist (I'm not - I don't think sim mode will do enough to make the game enjoyable for me), but I think if you're going to introduce something like sim mode, you'd be crazy to let it be impacted by changes clearly not designed for it. It feels like a walled garden.

1. A fundamental question has arisen for me. Any gamers who have played the Closed beta version? Have you changed and adjusted these values manually? And the main point for me is, can these values be used as team ID for each team? Or is it not worth it?

Now my question is, is it better to set these values for each team manually (according to the team ID of each team) or is it better to put it on the dynamic option?

If any of friends who have played the Closed beta version can give me some explanations about this?

2. And another question I have is that the Crossing Frequency option is only related to sending crosses from the sides of the field on the penalty area, or is this option related to sending long passes anywhere on the field? For example, if we increase its value, will the CPU team make more long passes wherever it is on the field? is it true?

Another interview with Sam Rivera where he's (thankfully) challenged on how individual-focused the game is, the interviewer naming FC24 as a particularly poor representation of a team sport... and Sam essentially rebuffs it.

"We’re a simulation game, but we’re a game." In other words, "we know and we don't care".

For as long as he's the top dog, I don't see how the game improves significantly.

Long time bugbear of mine: we're not even talking about one game, we're talking about... How many updates were there for FC24? Anyone?

I tested Dynamic and liked it, the behavior of the CPU varied from match to match, in some matchs they didn't even want to attack, just defend.
Is it random or is it based on values as for example strength of the opponent team, table position, form etc.? My biggest fear is that it's randomly and then you're playing against Man City and they are parking the bus.

Wow. This is why I won't even get the game for free if they offer it to me. Such elitistic, disgusting behavior from Rivera. They just don't care, it's all about money. Really sad response there.

sound good but only good when for example last game of the season and 1vs2 place and second place only defend and dont want to win 🤣🤣 that was sometimes the case with Pes

I've always said FIFA/FC isn't a football game but rather a game based on football.

This was especially troublesome for those of us who played the superior modded version of the game, the updates break every mod so you'd have to wait for the modders who update their mods coupled with the nigh excessive frequency of patches was infuriating. How many updates does one god damn game need?

Sounds like from the interview, there will be even more updates during the life of the yearly release. 👀

They liked the engagement of FC 24's Big Updates (Holiday, Winter, and Spring). @Chris Davies we have to see if the simulation mode will have public, since the idea is to make it stronger year by year. Unfortunately we're in a bubble, but we're considerable, if we were smaller I think EA would have killed career mode, I've heard that career mode only loses to UT in number of players.

That's interesting about the numbers.. Whether that means 2K would bother with offline for their rumoured football game..
