EA SPORTS FC 24

I think the culprit of 23 terrible skate is ML-FLOW:
"ML-Flow’s neural network algorithm is able to generate ball approach animations in real time, including stride adjustments, running cadence, pose matching, and transitions. ML-Flow is designed to help increase the fluidity and authenticity of ball approaches."

So, 9.2 million frames of animation movement animation data in FIFA 23, yet... Where is it?

I'm not even trying to be snarky here, I would maybe argue at most you see a thousand or so frames but none of it ever looks that fluid or realistic enough to justify using 9.2 million frames, that's just not true especially when it comes to players legs clipping through their own bodies and foot planting is non-existant.

If those things are intentional by design for the want of super responsive inputs in spite of clipping animation frames, then what's the point in investing in 580.8 million more frames of data then?
Agreed. I mean how many frames did FIFA 19 have yet FIFA 19 looks ten years advanced on FIFA 23 in terms of player animations.

ive played a good amount of both old gen and new gen and think old gen wins out because its more simplified and consistent. whereas next gen more feels like players randomly can either get stuck or can burst away very fast. It just doesn't feel as controllable or consistent. It's a fairly subtle difference that takes time to feel out, but yeah.

I think sometimes you can needlessly complicate something to the point where it causes more problems than pleasure.

I think it's also established that Frostbite is just chunks of code on top of code and that their at an impasse where starting from scratch would be too financially strainful and they get by making enough money as it is with people tolerating what they release and going in and fixing too much causes bugs elsewhere so it's almost like boat held together with tape at the moment.

The tape is an eye sore but you take any of it off and you create catatsrophe.

I was 100% convinced that was some AI-generated bullshit someone was circulating, but it's official??? "Saka" just looks like "generic black guy from an old Battlefield asset"!!!

It must be AI generated, right? Look at the women's faces!

No way are they game graphics. Must be some artwork.

I've always thought fifa\eafc players had a characture\cartoonish look to them.
Yeah but they look wayyy better than that in the game itself!

I don't have an issue with players generally having a "hand-drawn" look to them, because it means the generic faces don't look alien next to them (which always ruined PES's immersion for me - photo-realistic Beckham next to cartoon character).

But even so, that cover is another level. Half of me wonders if this was a PR stunt and in 24 hours' time they were going to say "hey guess what, our new cover is AI generated, you'd never have known would you?"...

Sam Kerr on that thumbnail image really looks like AI generated art to me. Slight "smudgeyness" to it, and the dead eyes (the cover image is really bad for that).

The one bit of "gameplay" looks very familiar. The 1v1-assigned defender stands still to watch the ball fly in.

The Sims called. They want their characters back.
Precisely my first thought!

Seriously, what is going on? I expected this to look like Fortnite Footy, yet I'm still shocked.

As expected, new name, same game. But (probably) even worse!

Well, let's ask the real question here.
We don't care about 1v1 being everywhere, about defenders being braindead, about FUT having eaten every single bit of soul this game used to have, and such... Because we all know they won't fix any of that so it's kinda useless to ask.

The real question is...
Did they finally fix the jersey fonts? Or we'll have to make do once again (for like the 15th year in a row) with player names missing the outline?

I mean... For a game that boasts about the Premier League (exclusive!) licence and about authenticity (well, players on steroids like it happens in FUT are authentic, aren't they?), it's kinda sad that they can't replicate the Premier League jersey fonts by any means. Where is authenticity? WHEEEEREEEE?

The visuals look horrid. How does efootball, a game built for mobile, look better than this? EA have all the resources in the world and this is the best they can come up with?

This has the potential of being the worst game on the series after the leaked news especially with defense.
It'll make more money than ever despite being a worse game, and that's all that matters.

As soon as I saw the faces it's obvious they have intentionally Fortnited the game and made the players look more gamey, basically all about gamification, which is exactly their strategy with FUT anyway, gamification of everything to make more cash and keep players chasing the next big shiny prize until all the cash in their wallets is gone.
