EA SPORTS FC 24

Some hope perhaps for football games. Looks much improved but I'm still cautious. This game still looks like it needs a lot of work.

The AI looks horrendous or just non existent... on the other hand it's light years ahead of fifa in a very specific area, the players do not move like crabs because there's no hypermotion garbage. (But even Super Mario Strikers is better than fifa in this department).

My nephew has just bought this on disc and has no internet. the game starts to install but it only install about 200mb of data and then says installed and you cant launch the game it just gives and error code. I mean WTF? is the game not on disc now? AT ALL????

The full game is not on the physical version. You need to connect to the Internet and download the game afaik.

This is FIFA 18, which doesn't often get called out as a particularly good FIFA - and yet, just look how natural this looks (minus the passer backing away like a crab riding a rocket after hitting the pass)... and without sliders (if I know @Flipper the Priest like I think I do).

Compare that to now...

I don't see how it ever gets better, without completely starting again. Which will never happen.

You know me so well. I can't even spell sliders.

Here, how clever is whoever reinvented flip flops as 'sliders'? Some naff things your dad wears by the pool in Majorca and now, somehow, via football, they're fashion items.

I've churned out a few FIFA 18 clips recently from back in 2017 and this year. I'd say it's the last playable FIFA, save for the honeymoon period of 22.

Is this your first rodeo with EA mate? If you're not getting screwed somehow, you've missed a step.
When did they stop packing the game on a disc? Not everyone will have access to the internet and it doesn't say on the box that you need the internet to run it or download it.

All my other disc games I can install from the disc and run it unpatched if I need to. Absolutely scandalous and ill be making a massive complaint.

Welcome to modern gaming. "You own nothing and you will be happy." That's what these publishers wants you to believe.

I've pretty much stopped buying new games because there is nothing to buy anymore. It's not just FIFA that's gone to trash. There are still great games out there but I don't even bother buying them because I can loose access to those games anytime the publishers wants since all of them have DRM and having the files alone after purchasing the game wont be enough to run it.

Must be due a refund, surely.

I played one half early this morning and a complete match just now, after setting up the new version of the os sliders, on slow.
Don't know if it's me being tired today but the games were on lightspeed. Literally gave me headaches.

I've found sprint speed needs to be 1-2 max and acceleration 46-47 max, in order to 1) reduce the crazy twitchy, silly jiggly-wiggly beat-every-man dribbles, and 2) to stop either side just bursting through to score. But when you do this, it kills stamina having any impact, which makes Career Mode fairly pointless.

The irony being that you get an "email" after your first Manager Mode game saying "don't forget to use substitutes"...

You just want to scream "make me need to use them then". I'm not going to make subsistutes because I'm "supposed to". You have to make up so much and/or handicap yourself so much to get any single-player enjoyment - force yourself not to take the easy pass and score the easy goal. I'm just not doing it any more.

Normally I would suggest switching to FUMA if I ever find it too easy and to instill some sense of challenge on my part, But I find FUMA in 24 really inconsistent.

It's controversial but I think PES/eFootball implements FUMA a lot more consistently and intuitively than the current FIFA's. There's always a solid correlation between an expected power/delivery on every action whereas on FC24, it's so wildly unpredictable what kind of result you're going to get on a manual pass.

I would think semi would be a good middle ground on FC24 but it's pretty highly assisted. I'm not totally understanding how pass error on sliders affects passing this year.

How utterly depressing. I havent actually bought a game at all since pes 20. That was offline, the whole game on the disc, although there was some copying needed.

I didnt realise companies were doing this now. Though had a hint when ea 24 refused to run when I turned wi fi off in the hope of removing some of the lag.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate state of gaming. Also PES 20 pc port never got cracked and it's been removed from steam. So there is no way to play that game on pc unless you manage to find keys from shady sites [which will eventually run out anyways].

Shame. I still had Hope's at learning to mod one day.

Fancy I'll go back to vanilla pes 20 on my ps4 pro sometime soon. I remember it being very compelling, very immediate, with a real sense of rhythm to the game. It felt tactile.

World class level is too easy. The legendary level is OK, the game plays well until you score a goal, then the game triggers some rude scripts that you won't be able to block. Loses 2-0, makes up for it to 2-3 and starts playing normally again, but you have no time to do anything...

Oh yeah, it's definitely a cop out on their part but they do it to force you to have their shite updates and (further) game-breaking patches. A Blu-Ray disc can hold approx. 50GB so plenty enough for this game (the alt. language files should be an optional download). It's been like that for a bit mate unfortunately. Start a petition or something because I'm sure you'd get some traction in the gaming community at large, not just with EA's crap, but just don't expect anything past getting heard because money is the only language they speak.

PS5 Blu-Ray can hold 100GB

So Argos wouldn't accept the game back citing that nothing is wrong with the game. This industry is on its knees. Loot boxes and gambling, drm, empty game discs and boxes, broken releases and illegal patching of games to alter the purchase. Im sick of it all.

Don't blame you, put in on ebay or Facebook marketplace, you'll get most the cash back.

The only thing I can think of is that not many people have a bluray reader in their PCs, but this doesn't mean they should not even consider physical copies anymore.

Operation Sports properly roasted the game and EA on their review. They don't put review scores anymore but it reads like a 2/10 or 3/10 at best.
"EA just wants to monetize their cash cow".
When a site like OS have these lines across a review we can safely say now that this game is done and dusted especially for offline users. If this continues with the next iteration OS will simply put out a 0/10.
The people in the OS slider thread are pretty happy with the game.

Which console is he using and which version did he buy? The answers above are plain wrong. Of course the discs contain the game files. The thing is that the game has Dual Entitlement, which means that you're able to play both of PS4 / PS5 or Xbox One / Xbox Series versions. The disc can only contain one of those versions, though, so if you're playing on the other gen console, you need to download that version.
