EA SPORTS FC 24

Is it weird to get a warm glowing feeling when Saturator is back happy with the game again? Mr Positive! I like it :)
Hello Placebo, sweden legend of this forum.
FIFA 22 beta was a very good surprise for me but they killed quickly the very good things 😕. FIFA 23 beta was less impressive but playable. At launch, it was good but after two patches, the very nice feeling were gone.

I played 3 bêtas and this one is the best.
Why? inertia and a some basics like crosses are in.
Shit will never be gold.
I think EA developpers worked on a version of FIFA and Fut addict said to them what they hate. The final product is the Fut version (vanilla). Mods and sliders are in to find the original version of the profuct.
When I will not be able to find a playable version, I will stop it.

Oh, how I like to read that introduction… not that it was needed…
but yeah, the Swedish sensation is ours! 🤗
Eat that, Konami and EA! 😂

have a wonderful weekend y’all! 😊👋

is there any indication about if the career mode will be good vs cpu this year? is it gonna be better than fifa 23 playing against the cpu offline? or are we gonna get this no midfield battle gameplay, where all midfielders go back to penalty area and stay there lol

It will be exactly the same. Why would they touch it?

so we are stuck with another bad year in offline modes?
The new features in Manager Mode (and to a lesser extent, Player Career) are genuinely fantastic, IMO.

It shocked me quite a bit to spend time in Manager Mode. There is a lot of love and care gone into it from a group of people who clearly play manager games (and I think the "manager camera" which allows you to watch an AI v AI game from the sidelines is proof that they're genuinely interested in occupying the management space).

You can now employ coaches, for each area of the pitch, each with different ability levels - but not just that, they have "specialisations" (e.g. counter-attacking to help with transitions)...

Plus there's the new training model (which you prepare based on opposition scouting reports, which is a fantastic addition in itself - because it makes you think about every single match, rather than just blasting through them all with the same approach).

For me, the career modes have seen huge steps up. They seem to have really concentrated on features that are important to the mode, instead of just shoe-horning in the stuff that FUT players want. I was very impressed in that regard, credit where credit's due.

Then, you get onto the pitch and find that none of it means anything, because every match is identical no matter what you've done. No matter the player or team attributes or styles. All passes 100% accurate (and the "pass error" slider having no impact), "gamified" physics, no midfield, no resistance, 1v1 defending and basketball scores.

(Hey, look, I was positive for most of this post! Give me credit for trying! If gameplay could "get serious" the way career mode has, it would be an astonishing game. IMO.)

I find this review of the beta on a comment on a video :

As always here is my general feedback of the beta so far after playing roughly 130+ games and completing 3 seasons in Career Mode.

Gameplay;

  • Shooting/Finishing- Hugely improved this year. The improvements in ball physics + shooting animations have given shooting/scoring a rewardingly realistic feel. With the new ‘Precision’ Shooting setting shots/finishes happen exactly how you intend them to happen; eg a soft side foot stroke shot that slots nicely into the bottom corner as intended…Specifically 18yrd and 6yrd box finishing feels realistic and amazing. GREAT WORK GUYS!
  • Passing- Feels a lot smoother this year. The ‘ping pong straight line passing feel’ that’s plagued previous Fifa’s is almost completely gone. You can now feel curling passes much more and you now notice the ball doesn’t constantly stick to the ground nor move in constant straight lines, so Passing just looks and feels great now (bar some intermittent inconsistencies sometimes in power/direction which I’m sure is just due to being at BETA and will be rectified in due course).
  • Crossing- Absolutely amazing! We finally have realistic whipped, pacey crossing, which imo was solely missing in previous iterations. Crosses now whip & curl wonderfully to the back post when intended, and the new low whipped and pacy crosses just feel realistic and great. Previously crosses were way too floaty with no whip or pace, so this is a huge improvement.
  • General team spatial positioning- Maybe this is just due to being a beta however I noticed in some instances with teams likely using the new ‘Gengen Pressing’ tactic that multiple players would frantically press in a very close proximity to each other and therefore overly congest the midfield in particular (rather than a more sensible spread out press across the pitch). Also noticed the press acceleration is pretty over powered and this subsequently causes a hurried/frantic feel to the game where you’re forced to play rapid quick fire passes to beat the over powered press. Again I’m sure this will be optimised post beta.
  • New Tactical Visions- Great addition and in general you could see the relating play styles being applied in game; However I did notice sometimes players would be pulled way out of position when attempting to play out from the back; eg Fullbacks would intermittently push way too high up the pitch beyond the midfield, despite using the ‘Tika taka’ tactic. Usually a slow build up tactic would position your defensive players in a low block to play out from the back, however this was not the case in most instances.
  • New increased Match Atmosphere setting- Brilliant addition as imo match atmosphere and in game moments/goals needed upgrading in order to give a more realistic match feel. One issue however is that the new inclusion of drums playing in the crowd is quite overbearing in general, especially when gamers wear headphones or use soundbars on our TV’s, whereby the overbearing constant drums playing thump too loudly in your ears/tv speakers and therefore sounds like your in a tin box thats being constantly thumped with heavy fists. This subsequently drowns out the rest of the crowd noises and therefore doesnt sound as great as it could; It would be great if the drums could be dialled down a fair bit to allow the usual crowd noises to shine, as in its current state I feel most users will disable this setting and would be a shame as the increased match atmosphere is a great addition, bar the overbearing drum sounds.
In general I’ve only noticed the usual bugs that you’d expect with a beta, so I wont list them all as these will already be known bugs that the Dev team are aware of and will address in the full release version;

  1. (This may be down to some balls not yet being live in the DB, so may not be a bug)- Some balls in-game do not match up to the initial ball chosen in Match settings; they display as completely different balls in-game. Replication path = Kick Off > choose two teams > Game Settings > Match > Ball selection > select eg ‘Premier League Flight’ white & orange ball > start game > see ball is different to ball initially chosen.
  2. Kit numbers on back of shirts incorrect colour; eg Shirt numbers will be white on a white shirt, rather than black. Replication path = Kick Off > select Manchester United > select their WHITE away kit > start game > see shirt numbers on the back are white instead of black.
  3. Ball Tracking Delay setting- When setting this to any number > 0 it subsequently causes the in-game camera to stutter during the match. It follows the ball with the assigned delay as intended however the persistent stuttering deems the functionality inoperable. Replication path = Kick Off > select teams > Customise > Game Settings > Camera > Ball Tracking Delay > set to eg ‘5’ > start match > see camera persistently stutters throughout the match.
  4. When making changes to Team Sheets and saving, the saved team sheet moves players into different/incorrect positions, therefore causing team sheets to be incorrect.
  5. Replication path = Customise > select Team Sheets > select any team > make changes to team tactics or player instructions > Save changes > see players have been moved into different positions in saved Team Sheet.
Hope the above feedback and info helps. All in all I thoroughly enjoyed playing the beta and at this very early stage its clear to see EA FC 24 is very promising and already looking to be huge upgrade on Fifa 23, so huge thanks to the EA team for all their fantastic work!

Look forward to playing the full release version in a few weeks.

Best Regards,

Did the AI in FIFA 23 not use crosses throughout the life of the game, or just EA decided to spoil some aspects of the game at the end to make it no longer attractive, "forcing" you to buy EA FC 24? Just asking.

Breaking your game on purpose is a myth. Take your average FIFA player, tell them the AI don't cross any more and they'd say "what the hell are you talking about". If they were going to "break the game" to make you buy the new one, it'd have to be something that actually impacted the game for the majority of players.

It's the way the AI assesses its odds of scoring. The AI "knows" it will score if it ping-pongs the ball around the penalty box and sets up a tap-in... It's the least "organic" AI around, it's not supposed to play like a football team.

It "thinks" like another human player, who clearly sees the exploits, and isn't going to do things it knows are largely pointless (i.e. crossing) just because that happens in real life. Real life has very little to do with this game.

So, the AI got tweaked to be harder, and the AI stopped going a little bit easy on us. That's all.

Since the introduction of Volta, CPU in FIFA didn't cross on vanilla. To forced crosses, you have to increase bad control. It works at 80%.

I also think it's another symptom of 1v1 where the AI is designed to to try and take on every player and dribble around everyone even when the situation isn't efficient and just straight-up ridiculous, especially on the flanks.

You notice that dumb ninja dribbling they do all the way up the goal line, hogging it for dear life instead of simply releasing it to an obviously better-positioned player?

1v1.

Of course, what you write makes sense and can be observed, but what's the point of dividing it into classic mode and competitive mode then? Another nonsense from the creators of this game.

Another thing... I think it's time to throw it in the trash the classic defense "like in the old FIFA games" (which ones? defends differently than in the pre-tactical defense PS3 editions) and focus on refining the game for one defense model. There are so many settings in this game that it's hard to tell which one it was prepared for best.

On Legendary they don't cross as often as on World Class. It's that simple. I believe it's because on Legendary, the competitive mode option is not completely turned off - even though it's toggled as is, but for some reason, it still acts like playing competitive mode.

Its because it's hard coded that way. I found it in the leaked source code.

So there is no Brazil then?

I don't care what reasons they have. If they don't have Brazil, why should I ever buy the game?
Brazil is there in FIFA 23, but you need to play the World Cup mode to use them. Outside of it, they can't feature them with real players.

EAFC 24 will probably feature them with fake players since the FIFA World Cup license is gone.

So Brazil is not playable in regular kick off mode? Why would I ever buy a game that doesn't have Brazil?

The world cup mode has only two stadiums unlike FIFA world cup 2006, 2010, 2014. Why should I ever buy such garbage product?

They killed in FIFA 22 Live Tuning 2, the passes are ridiculous to this day.

"Slightly increased the ball travel speed of Ground Passes."

So if I am correct, this will be available next Friday via EA Play for a 10-hour trial.

I must admit, it's surreal seeing such little activity or anticipation of a "FIFA" so close to launch. I'm personally looking forward to this and will take it for what it is, a casual football game that looks great at times and jarring at others. Like 23, I'll go in with low expectations however since playing on PC with gameplay mods, my enjoyment of 23 has increased significantly and has improved my enthusiasm for 24.

Is anyone else picking up the trial next Friday for the sake of £4?

I already pre-ordered the ultimate edition so I'll start playing also on Friday. Looking forward but as every year my expectations aren't that high.

For PC will it be next or old gen? Sorry for asking, maybe it's already been said... where can you book the €4 trial for PC?

Yeah I don't expect anything drastically improved from 23, visually it looks incredible, I'm hoping HypermotionV adds a bit more sensibility to team shape and animation skipping and general reports from the BETA are that the ball physics has been improved as well as the passing physics. 1v1 is here to stay unfortunately so the true test is whether defenders still be terrified of tracking back or at least cutting passing lanes if they're not allowed to team press.

PC version will be the same version as PS5 & XBOX Series X just as it was last year with 23.

I'm hoping it's better optimized this year as 23 is ridiculously demanding even at 1080p.

I might grab the trial… just to see for myself! You know how it is… 😊
but then, it’s a version before the day one patch… so… yeah… we should all know the drill by now. 😉

thing is, i settled! I’m really good with what I play these days (16 modded). I don’t really need a new game. A more current version of what was delivered in 2015 I wouldn’t mind though. :P

I'm sure the FIFA Infinity team are already working hard on a patch for 23/24 for 16 as usual.

FIFA 16 is pretty much the PES 6 of FIFA games in regards to long-lasting modding support and discovering new ways to mod the game and keep it fresh.

Is there any English commentary mods for FIFA 16?, just thinking of all the players that won’t have call names when you use something like FIP. Was tempted to try out 16 some time.

Yeah. That would be nice.
Custom chants, sadly, aren’t an option in FIFA too, I heard.

SP FL, for example, has such cool team specific chants and lots of them!! Outstanding work done there!
