EA SPORTS FC 24

It's like if a chef took feedback from every customer and asked them to name a crucial ingredient to make the greatest dish ever, they'd nominate wildly different like gravy or ice cream. You'd end up with a concoction that's neither sweet nor savory. Just a repulsive attack on the senses instead.
Amen to that.

Amen to that.
It used to be that EA & Konami would acknowledge this delicate balance between arcade and realism and they understood you can't please everyone so they focused on a happy medium across the gameplay spectrum.

Now, they bloody tweak and twiddle every other week to the extreme that familiarity goes out the window and you never know how jarring your game is going to be this week.

Back on the 360 and PS3, developers had to pay a hefty fookin' fee for the privilege of distributing a patch, which was a disadvantage when you really needed to fix something major but I suppose it acts as an incentive to make sure your patch is justified and worthwhile.

Now, we have this GaS, patching culture where you never know if the experience you signed up for is going to be the same on a week-to-week basis because it seems to be constantly adjusted based on widely polarising feedback.

i have gotten a code for the last 5 years or so but nothing this time unfortunately.

Americans would disagree with you and I'd guess it's Americans who have a large say in the direction EA go in with regards to EAFC.
I've lived in the states since 2000 mate (coaching) and that's not really true. It's kids anywhere/everywhere in the world calling for this FUT style gameplay crap, even in the offline modes. I've played footy games with a lot of Americans across the years and the over 20s all prefer the realism of the earlier titles just like people on here do. The kids I coach largely prefer the FIFA 20-23 type crap but the older they get they prefer the older titles for FIFA and PES.

Initial impressions...

The skating is still there but not as bad as FIFA 23.
Players feel a bit more 'solid'.
Physicality is decent.
Pace is good, default setting.
Passing on Semi so far is a joy. Best I've seen in a 'FIFA' game.
The AI have crossed the ball 😲😲😲 I've seen more crosses - not that stupid 5 yard flick in the air when 5 yards from goal you see in 23 - they are actually whipping it in from deep or on the run.

I'm a huge critic of this franchise but If it plays like it does, I'd sink some decent hours into this. Without much of an alternative - I'm still playing PES21 on PS4 - I might bite the bullet this year. I can't remember the last time I got a new footy game on release but I'm very wary they will probably fuck about with everything, speed it right up and make players be able to warp around the pitch defying gravity.

Thanks for the feedback. Nextgen or oldgen version ?

Turn players etc, is it slow or does it feel faster than FIFA 23?

PS4

To me, it feels slightly slower. I've tried to skin someone a couple of times and they've bumped me off the ball. You can probably pull off the same gravity defying stuff if you know all the skills but I don't play like that.

I played as Inter Miami and managed to skip past 3 or 4 players with Messi, it felt as it should though.

I've only played a handful of games but it does feel good when you get a 'flair' player on the ball.

I'll have more of a bash tomorrow and feedback positives/negatives.

Interesting feedback. Thanks for that. PS4? My only concern that it could be very different on PS5/PC. A lot of people compliment "old gen" FIFA's over the last few years.

Jesus.

When PES barely changed between versions, I didn't mind, because it was already a solid representation of football. Here, the defensive line still moves slowly back and forth like waves on a beach, with zero actual defensive work or even positioning (just a perfectly spaced line of players on a stick that goes back and forth, no AI to be seen).

And the ball physics... God, they're so horrible to watch, right? All the trailer talk of better ball physics (for the second or third year in a row)... Yet they still look totally floaterific and random.

Leg movements that would indicate a hard ground pass result in a ball floating off the ground in a way only a helium balloon would - but then flying like a bullet the next.

It's as if the physics guys don't understand that balls move at different velocities depending on the contact and NOT JUST AT RANDOM.

(But of course, the reality is - the contact has zero to do with ball movement. They just need to get the ball to the player you requested, to avoid player frustration, so the ball is essentially on a string. What an absolute waste of 21st-century processing power that is.)

There are so many tackles that clearly show the ball absolutely SPEEDING to the obvious target that the game has chosen for the loose ball to go to - because loose balls are absolutely, 100% forbidden, and everything must "lock on" to something.

(I'm serious. The "Pitch Notes" have often said "tackling adjusted to ensure more instances of winning possession". Overriding the, you know, physics, that were in the game, but now aren't. Because "eSports mate".)

Maybe it feels different, but it absolutely does not look different.

It looks absolutely nothing like football to me and it genuinely makes me uneasy to watch it, because it's just so sad that it's accepted as representation of a football game on planet Earth with Earth gravity and human players with human abilities, when the ball physics are far weirder and the players far more robotic than games from 20 years ago.

I don't want PES6 remastered... I want a real football game with real freedom and none of this pandering, eSports bullshit. There's the name for you, Football Freedom. Someone please make it... The tech is there to make something incredible... Why are the mechanics so ass-backwards?

Hey guys, my mate has the beta and played it earlier today (PS5). Just want to say this - if you liked FIFA 23 then I think you’ll really like it. If not, then go in warned - it’s literally the same game bar some tweaks that could easily have been made with sliders.

I really like the new presentation and menus, very clean and easy to navigate. But this is not the revelation that EAs marketing led me to believe.

Has anybody got any video of a user playing FUMA? It's difficult to tell what type of passing we're looking at here with assists on. If either of those 2 videos are on FUMA then the game is FUBAR!

The vast, vast majority will be playing on standard assisted controls - if it was FUMA I'm fairly sure they'd advertise it!

It'll just be exactly the same, like the rest of the game.

But that's exactly what they're doing. They certainly aren't listening to this community here.
The problem is, most of the community are kids who live on ESPN highlight reels. They’ve never understood that ‘highlights are action moments from an entire game. Because they never watch full footy games, they think the whole game should be like that.

I played 4 or 5 games on beta (PC) early impressions are "meeh".

It is a clearly step foward from FIFA23, gameplay and technical, but it is not a revolution.

Super fast i notice, LOD in PC It is OK, better than FIFA23, nice models, a very welcome new graphical settings, setting for grass quality, crow quality, new sliders for custom cameras.
