American teenage ace Freddy Adu claims that he would prefer a move to Chelsea than Italy. "Europe is always everyone’s dream," said the Milan target. "I would love to end up there. I watch their football on TV all of the time but Chelsea are my favourite team."
 
Presumably Freddy didn't catch Chelsea's first three matches then. I can't really see how they'd be more attractive to neutrals than Milan.

a) I don't think any team in Italy is particularly scintillating.

b) Freddy, if you'd like to read it again, isn't a neutral. ;)
 
Hmmm....that draw smells rather fishy (as usual!). I fancy a trip to Parc des Princes though and Porto would be good if I can get time off work. I'm praying that we get CSKA in September - a trip there in December would be very tough.
 
Uh oh, on Soccernet they said Moscow and Chelski may get removed because Roman has power in both teams.

It would be a huge let down if CHelsea went out.
 
I love the way UEFA always act AFTER something has happened! Typically pathetic, and probably designed to grab headllines to show they are doing something! There is a conflict of interest here as Roman supports CSKA in Russia (He was at their game v Rangers the other day) and he sponsors the shirts but I don't think he has any controlling stake.

And besides, even if he does, I doubt he'd get found out by the dim witted bureaucrats of UEFA!
 
soo when is this issue going to be resolved between the two? have they set a deadline?

Chelsea have been fooling themselves with this team huddle crap. I am no Arsenal fan,but i have to say your two bit portuguese company team are trying to make a hero out of Tiago after one game against cheap workmen palace and even have the cheek yo use Viera chant.

And also what happened to Kezmen being top scorer of premiership,that which he said while also qoutng that he'll prove to be the next rvn.(what a joke hey considering he aint even tested a keeper yet)

I really feel sorry for chelsea bcoz once that idiot who doesnt know nothing about football roman abramabitch gets bored himself, of mourinho's football this season,he will no doubt get sacked if he misses out on premiership which could happen and chelsea will have a another manger next season.

But i know thats far fetched but another alternative is that abramabitch leaves chelsea with his millions and chelsea end up in debt.

Either way chelsea will never EVER become a force in the premier league coz football nature will not allow a club to buy their way to success and one way or another chelsea will crumble :)

As for that crap mourinho said about chelsea being a seven month baby and arsenal bein seven years or some shit. credit to Arsenal coz they didnt have incredible mounts of money to start off with as a little baby,while chelsea spend something like 200 of millions in only 2 seasons while arsenal who havnt even spent that much in the space of 7 years with wenger in charge. So people have the right to say things like 'what a waste of money'.

lol - for a 14 year old, you seem to know an awful lot about the future. Thanks for your concerns, we will take them on board. ;)

Now moving on, I thought we were excellent on Saturday (although I do have to say Saints were abject). Eidur really should have had a hat trick after about 8 minutes, Didi Drogba had a very good game but just rushed his efforts a little bit, and the same could be said of Kezman.

Lampard was imperious once again and Joe Cole (despite the early fuck up) had a very good game. Tiago got dragged into the centre a little bit too much and personally I thought Makelele was dreadful again. I can't see how a guy who can't pass more than 10 yds can get in that team. There's hope for me yet!

The defence, superb again, never looked in any trouble - nothing they could do about Beattie's goal.

UEFA Clears Abramovich

Uefa has cleared Chelsea's Russian owner Roman Abramovich of having a conflict of interest with Champions League opponents CSKA Moscow.

European football's governing body was concerned that the billionaire had a controlling interest in both clubs.

But a Uefa spokesman said: "We have found no reason to believe that Mr Abramovich would be a shareholder."

Chelsea had maintained that the only link was that Abramovich's oil company Sibneft were CSKA's shirt sponsors.

Uefa can puy that "post-it" in the out tray now

High hopes for Drogba's fitness

Didier Drogba, injured on Sunday while playing for Ivory Coast against Sudan, hopes to be fit for Chelsea’s visit to Aston Villa on Saturday. The centre-forward came off at half-time after shooting his country into the lead from the penalty spot and then suffering a kick to the back of the ankle similar to the two he received during the win at Crystal Palace.

He hobbled off as a precaution, but has been talking with the Chelsea medical staff and hopes to be training by midweek and fit for the trip to the Midlands on Saturday.


Duffer looking good too

Republic of Ireland doubt Damien Duff came through a full training session in Switzerland this morning, raising hopes that he will start against the Swiss in tomorrow night's World Cup qualifier in Basle.

The Chelsea winger was rated 50-50 by manager Brian Kerr and was expected to rest his injured ankle today.

However, he was included in training this morning after his ankle responded well for treatment, and now looks set to start tomorrow.


Robben is raring to go

Arjen Robben has spent more time in the swimming pool than on the football pitch lately, but the Dutch winger hopes to soon make a big splash for Chelsea in the Barclays Premiership. The £12million summer signing from PSV Eindhoven has yet to make his competitive debut for the Blues after fracturing a bone in his foot during pre-season.

Robben suffered the injury when he was hacked down by former Leeds midfielder Olivier Dacourt in a friendly match against Roma in the United States on July 29, an incident which led to an angry reaction from Mateja Kezman and earned the Chelsea striker a red card. It has been a frustrating period for Robben, who has also had to miss out on Holland's opening World Cup qualifiers this weekend.

The Dutchman, though, hopes to be back in contention for a place in first-team squad shortly after the international break. 'It's getting better each day and I still have to be patient a little bit. I start running now, so I hope I'll be back soon,' Robben said. 'I have worked quite hard in the gym, in the swimming pool and all kind of stuff.

'I feel fit, but of course football is always different so I have to get used to play again, and run again and then I think that can be done very quickly. 'I think it's going to take me about two weeks and then I hope I will be there again. 'I hope I'll stay fit now and just play football - and don't swim anymore.' Robben has been an interested spectator as Chelsea started the new Premiership campaign with maximum points from their opening four matches, which began with a hard-earned win over Manchester United.

'I think the first one was just a big fight and it was not good football, but the result was the most important thing and we won so that was very important,' reflected the Holland international. 'I think the last home game [against Southampton], we played well. We had initiative and we had the game under control. 'I think the more games we play, we'll start to play better and better. I hope when I'm fit that we can do that also.'

With Republic of Ireland international Damien Duff also struggling for match fitness because of his continuing shoulder problem, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could have done with some more options on the flanks. The club, though, will not rush the Dutchman back into action before he is ready.

'The only thing for me is now to come back and show what can I do and I'm very confident that I can play for Chelsea and do some good,' said Robben. 'The most important thing for me is that I get back and then the next step is to show the team what can I do. 'I'm looking forward to join the squad again and then play at Stamford Bridge. I think that must be great.'
 
Mourinho goes on the offensive

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho says he plans to play wingers Arjen Robben and Damien Duff in the same side once the pair recover their fitness.

Duff is set to start for Republic of Ireland in Wednesday's World Cup qualifier against Switzerland in Basel after recovering from a shoulder injury problem that has interrupted his Stamford Bridge career.

Meanwhile, Dutch international Robben has yet to appear for the Blues after injuring his ankle during pre-season.

Mourinho revealed that once both wingers are fully fit, he plans to play the pair together in his side to provide the necessary width for his strikers.

"Their presence will make a lot of difference for many players in the team," Mourinho said.

"It is just a matter of having both of them completely fit and Robben is getting nearer now."


Any thoughts on how we'll look?

Lampard doesn't like playing that far up though, he likes to drift in just at the right moment. He's a bit exposed, whereas Cole loves that role.
 
Im sorry to say but joe cole never seems to produce for club or country,all he ever does is his little party tricks with no end product,a bit like when ronaldo first appeared in premiership for Man United.

like the game against crystal palace where I thought he tried too hard too impress and was being too selfish.

OMG, did you even watch the game dude.... Joe Cole was my MOTM in that game, he was great, making runs at the defense, passing great balls.... cmon man, watcht the games!!!
 
I agree. Cole was great in that game, and I can only see his game improving in time. I hope he gets more starts.

For cole would be enough to reach the level of play he had when he was at Upton Park... that would mean a great variety of solutions upfront for chelsea
 
I agree to some extent with Alucard here. Joe did have a good game against Palace, but he really needs to look up more and be aware of the simple ball.

I think he has a great teacher though! ;)
 
So lads, PSG, what do you think?

They've had a dire season thus far in Le Championnat, languishing down the bottom end of the table without recording a win yet. However, this is a different competition, form goes out the window and all that, so they're probably very hungry for a win. I'm hoping our passing is up to it. If we can keep possession and go forward intelligently, i believe we can take all 3 points. Hopefully we can recreate our away form of last season's CL. I have a feeling aboout Drogba in this one :-k
 
I think PSG don't stand a chance against Chelsea Prof.
PSG are a tiny liltle bit similar to Chelsea. Although they don't have a Roman, each year they buy loads of players (albeit of a lesser quality than Chelsea) and are considered favourites in La Ligue. But all in all they are perennial underachievers. Their coach is a bit of a clown.
Since i'm not a Chelsea fan i can easily say that your team will trash PSG (my bet for this years' worst team in the CL). But of course i'm often wrong...
