Cheers gerd, although i would love us to thrash them, i never take any opponent lightly. They have home advantage (although given their current state, it could work against them if they go down a goal and play badly), and teams always raise their game for the CL. It's a bit like FA Cup matches in England, you'll get a lower division side going for it against a Premiership team etc.
As i mentioned above, i hope Drogba will be in his element tonight, perhaps being on French soil will remind him of his capabilities.

Yeah i like the new look website, i never really liked the layout and feel of the last one.

Anyway regarding the match last night i'll quote myself

They've had a dire season thus far in Le Championnat, languishing down the bottom end of the table without recording a win yet. They have home advantage (although given their current state, it could work against them if they go down a goal and play badly). I'm hoping our passing is up to it. If we can keep possession and go forward intelligently, i believe we can take all 3 points. Hopefully we can recreate our away form of last season's CL. I have a feeling aboout Drogba in this one

I should be a pundit

I thought Lamps' yellow card for taking a free kick early was ridiculous! I've never seen that happen. Why didn't he book him again for taking that corner early? Pathetic!

Chelskia

i really impressed by the recent Chelsea's perfomances particular in their defence, solid and firm.Drogba becoming more ever dangerous and Lampard always have a good game.anyway hopefully Kezman will get his first goal for the team soon.Go Chelsea.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Mourinho's latest:
"Nobody has spoken to me," said Mourinho. "Nobody has spoken with Mr Kenyon. Nobody has spoken with the club.

"Nobody, absolutely nobody. It is an imaginary thing. Maybe it is a dream, I don't know."

OK OK, we get the picture, nobody spoke to anyone.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

How many of you think, Gud Johnsen has not played as good as last season in the last few games?

I prefer starting with Kezman rather than him.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

hm.. correct me if i'm wrong, for what i remember, Mutu only has played one game in this season so i cant say he's good or not. But everytime when Kezman came in, he can make more space for Drogba or make some passing for other team-mate. So that's why I prefer Kezman more than Gud Johnsen. And I'll compare Mutu if he can play more games in the future...

Re: Chelsea FC thread

what u lot think of next game.? against "me" [FCPORTO]

probably we are gonna get our ass kicked! :(
chelsea has a much better team! :eh:
maybe with some luck and good defending we could change things.... but doubt... :\

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Re: Chelsea FC thread

I think Chelsea can take the advantage over Porto FC by three former Porto's men in the squad, the trio known well about the good and bad inside the Porto team,i think Mr.Mourinho can one more time bring us Chelsea fans a great result.Kezman hasn't score yet..sigh but i still believe once he scored the first goal he will keep scoring.

or maybe thats how chelsea will play. considering that they are practically porto these days. i remember in the opening game of the season (united chelsea) when chelsea were defending th 1 goal lead. mourinho told makalele to go right over to the over side of the pitch and then he subbed him, so he would have to walk all the way back.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

But for a brief spell around the time they scored, we were pretty much in control. However, the fact that they chucked on more strikers in an attempt to get a goal back, only helped us to grab another. Looking good so far. 8)

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Surprises me the level of the russian Alexei Smertin, I didn't think that went to figure but he has become one of the better of the team.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Great result for Chelsea, its hard to say you's have improved cos you did well in The CL last year but with only two goals conceeded so far this season I can see you's bettering last years Semi final appearence.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Lampard, Lampard, when will ur luck back? You've missed a few chances to score on yesterday. The performance of our squad on yesterday is not bad, with some luck, we can score more than 3 goal.

I know I was a bit unlucky with a couple of shots yestaday but hopefully my luck will be back against wales metal jason and then i'll be able to pick it up from the national games to play well against Man City. I'm just happy that the team won because thats the most important thing is getting the 3 points it dont matter if we play boring and your family fall asleep in the stands just as long as we win for mourinho.

Sorry again metal jason I promise i will try not to let you down in the next game,im sure my luck will be back by then.

p.s Franky loves you all

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Rumour has it that when our current sponsership deal with emirates runs out, we're jumping on the mobile phone bandwagon and will be sponsered by Orange.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

It looks as if things are still not so Rosey with Mr Mutu. I'm sure he'll be off come January, certainly next summer. I heard Roman wants to offer Atletico Madrid, Mutu and £24 million for Torres. Can't see it myself, although if they do ever sell him he'll go abroad for sure.
We'll need a fourth striker, but probably not as high profile as him. I'd like to see Carlton Cole back personally. Sorry Villa ;)

Life for Veron's machete burglar
LONDON, Oct 19 (Reuters) - A machete-wielding man who terrorised Argentine soccer player Juan Sebastian Veron and his family during a break-in earlier this year has been jailed for life.

Wayne Harley, described by police as a professional criminal, was sentenced on Tuesday at Kingston Crown Court, south-west of London.

Judge Charles Tilling told the 36-year-old he represented a continued risk of causing serious harm to the public.

The court heard that Harley had broken into Veron's home in southwest London, early on a Sunday morning in January this year.

Having woken Veron's family, including two young children, he wielded a machete before making off with an estimated £60,000-70,000 worth of jewellery.

Harley fled in a van with the jewellery, watches and mobile phones but fell asleep in the vehicle after refuelling at a nearby petrol station.

After waking he set off again only to crash the van and was arrested soon afterwards, the court heard.

Harley had admitted aggravated burglary when he appeared in court on Monday.

Veron is currently playing in Italy with Serie A side Inter Milan having joined them on a year's loan from Chelsea in June.

The 29-year-old played in Italy for Sampdoria, Parma and Lazio before moving to Manchester United for a British record fee of £28.1million in 2001.

He failed to shine for United and joined Chelsea in a £15million deal shortly after Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich bought the club last July but endured a miserable season because of a back injury, making only 14 appearances.
