Isn't Ricardo Carvalho a double-barreled 'surname' though? Like Rui Costa or Nuno Gomes?

what do you mean? ô.o

My english isn't perfetc, so i ain't getting that! :p

I mean Ricardo isn't his 'first name' in the way that David is Beckham's first name. I might be wrong, but I assumed it was like [Manuel] Rui Costa or [Barry]* Nuno Gomes.

* possibly incorrect

Apparantly we played a pretty borin game again, playin with a very well organised defense that never looke dlike being beaten! Not sure if im happy with the new style, but happy with the three points against one of our major bogey teams! :D

No, it's his family name. He is and allways has been Ricardo Carvalho, it has nothing to do with the fact that the goalkeeper was also called Ricardo.

What was with Gronk getting pissed at his teammate? I didn't see what happened exactly.
I think Heskey lost his mind there for a second, I laughed my ass off when he pushed the keeper (whose reaction was also funny, like WTF just happened :D).

Hey, my first post :)

So, what do you guys think of R.Carvalho perfomance on Chelsea last game?..

He was on my team F.C.Porto, believe me he's the best defender in Europe.

A better DEFENDER than Mr Sol Campbell?

And Campbell is in my teams biggest rival AND a Judas!!! doesnt mean he's the best defender, i dont think there is anyone better in the WORLD than Campbell at defending!

I'm pretty sure that's what I said.

Glad to see we won our second game with a bit "luck".
I think our right side's offence is not strong enough, always no-one there... and I think Lampard still is not fit.

Anyway, we have good player this season, we just need more time to build up.

Personally, I think we're looking good. Two wins from two, against teams who will finish in the top 6 - and for the most part without our creative players. Consider the total disarray we were in this time last year when it was only Mutu who saved us from defeats and draws against Blackburn and Leicester (and that was with a full squad to call on)!

We may not be painting pretty pictures yet, but Mourinho has certainly got us well drilled at the back and that is the most important area. Once the flair players are back and start building relationships with Eidur, Drogba and Kezman, we should be in very good shape.

Do you think he's going to keep the midfield diamond when the likes of Robben returns? I'm hoping the Robben/Kezman partnership hits the ground running so to speak. And i'd like to see drogba kick into gear, the guy is showing some serious strength upfront.

I think the diamond is here to stay, but who will play in it, I don't know! Lampard seems to be struggling in his new role, Geremi hasn't got the pace or nouse to open teams up, Smertin is just a stand in and Makelele couldn't pass the salt. I would like to see:

___________________________Joe Cole_________________________

_______Duff/Robben_______________________Lampard/Glen Johnson

_________________________Parker/Smertin_____________________

But maybe have Robben play up front with one striker occasionally, and leave Duff at left wing. It's early days yet, but the one thing we need back is a bit of width and Duffer and Robben will change the shape of the team a lot when they come back.

True Terry, Lampard at this point, isn't looking quite like the player he was last season, and young master Cole's performance may have alerted Mourinho to his abilities. I would dearly love to see Cole in an OMF role behind the 2 strikers, as i believe he has that flair to unlock defences.
Our passing, and thus, ball retention, does seem rubbish at the moment though. :|

I dont want to say this, but I hope our squad can play as smooth as Arsenal... and I trust we can.

I don't want to defend like them! Yes, they play great attacking football, and it's perfect for rolling over sides who can't defend properly in the Premiership, but as they find out time after time, European clubs aren't quite so dumb. We may not be setting the pulse racing yet, but considering the difficulties we are playing under at the moment, we have started really well.

Be careful what you wish for Metal Jason! ;)

Agreed. I think we can beat them in this season and future. And I only wish WE WIN all the match in the future!!

so far you have ground out defeats against brum and a poor united side.
we are still missing vieira and campbell but have managed 2 prolific victories. if chelsea went 3-1 down im pretty sure they would crumble. and what are these difficulties you are talking about. chelsea are becoming a very boring team to watch. and your players aren't as good as you like to think. who in your team is really world class? the best player you bought in 2 years is crespo but instead of giving him a chance to settle you kick him out. all chelsea fans were saying last season is give our players a chance to settle. so what do you do. get a bunch of new ones you've gone for immediet success. simmilar to blackburn and look at them now.

Like Jose said, we are just like a baby and Arsenal is just like a 7 yrs old child... you just wait and see we can do what Arsenal have done and we dont need 7 yrs to do that, i believe.

I think Lampard is struggling because he is at his best in a flat 4-4-2 midfield where he can play as a free central midfielder. He doesn't really seem to fit Mourinho's system.. yet.
