It seems our defence still need to be improve.

We've scored many goals in US but still, we've lost a few goals also.

We only conceded in two games! And it was against the italian champions, and it wasnt a one sided affair as it seems. Im still very excited bout the comin season :D

Me too, i'm getting Sky at the beginning of next week :D
We do need to work on the defence, even if we appear to employ the Kevin Keegan, "score one more ethic."
I am very much digging Drogba. Is the guy going to score in every game he is in?
Let's hope so ;)

What Ho, Prof! Hows tricks?

As we expected, a lot has changed since the last time I was on here (at Chelsea that is! - Still lot's of breathless panting on here at the sign of a new game..... )

Glad we got beat last night, calm everyone down a bit. Going Sunday? Can't see how we ended up with Zaragoza!? Good work Chelsea.....

Yep, I'm nothing if not predictable! I'm not sure how long it's been (about 6 months probably) but like an animal migrating, I'm always back on the forum for the long, punishing spell before the new game is released.

I'm liking the fact that people are writing WE8 off before they've got it in their hot little hands! Quality - can't wait for the rabid reaction when PES4 is being released....

Yeah, it's like a frenzy over there. I'm just trawling for some info. Waiting for PES4 myself.

So TB, thoughts and comments on our signings, the new manager, and expectations? :-k

Well, like you, I'm glad we got rid of Claudio. Yes, he was a lovely bloke but that Monaco game was a real catastrophe. And the worst thing was, he'd already done it numerous times before. He didn't learn his lessons but in a way, I don't think it matters - We would have been torn a new arsehole by Porto in the final anyway. (I'm still angry even now!)

Mourinho really impresses me. I don't know if you've watched any of our warm up games so far, but everyone looks really comfortable on the ball this summer, and he had ditched all the players that were stale. Most importantly, we have some PACE at long last! I'm looking forward to the season and I'd like us to have a good go at every competition - the Ranieri hoodoo needs to end as soon as possible.

All in all, I give it a: :D

and i don't think we've ever had a striker quite like Drogba. I think he's going to rival Henry in the Prem for most feared striker.
Shame about Kezman missing the first 3 games. I wanted to see him on from the get go.
Notice how Mourinho has played Eidur in all the games so far. He really admires him. I think he likes to give him that creative role upfront, behind 2 strikers even, a la Lampard.
So glad that pie-eater Sullivan has been offloaded.
Yup, bags of pace now. ;)

What an entertaining game that was. I thought Chelsea outplayed Milan for most of the game, and looked the better team except for some moments in the second half.

Cafu's goal was one of the best set-up and finished goals i have ever seen. Shevchenko's lofted one-touch to Cafu and the classic volley-finish were unvbelievable.

But Drogba's header damn near tore the nets off the goal. It was simply awesome. He is gonna be a threat in every game he plays. I would not be surprised if he ends up top scorer in the league.

was good to see Duff moving around and orchestrating as well. Ferriera was vanilla. Cole impressed me too.

I think overall, Chelsea has looked the most impressive on the US tour. BUt 'pool play tonigjht and they were solid in their last game and splendid in their first.

I'm showing my age now, but Drogba reminds me a lot of Kerry Dixon! In build and ability in the air, they are exactly the same, but what makes Drogba world class is his pace. Young Kerry never had that. That type of striker is very rare here nowadays (or anywhere for that matter). We have paid a lot of money for him, but seeing as Roman earns £11 million a day, I doubt it has kept him up at night worrying.

I like Kezman too, he is making some great runs behind the back 4. He has great movement compared to Jimmy and Crespo. I'm surprised Eidur is so valued at this stage. He is a great player, but he is also sluggish at times and his finishing can let him down. Hopefully José will keep him on the straight and narrow.

Neil Sullivan......useless sack of shit.

I remember Dixon. (I think we're of a similar age TB, actually, it's my 30th soon). I wouldn't compare him to Drogba though. DD is just plain scary.
Kezman, what a bargan there, eh. And yes, his movement is superb. He should be able to exploit Prem defences well. I'm looking forward to the Kezman (Batman) & Robben link up. :bat:

lol! In fact you're older than me - 29 in a week or so. :( (Where did it all go???)

There is so much talent at the club now, it's hard to keep up. I find it impossible to pick a team now, because I end up leaving some brilliant players out each time. Long may it last!

oh i dont know if i agree, milan seemend to dominate the second half.... chelsea looked strong in the first 15 of the second half, then mourhino subbed in johnson and huth, it fell apart from there... the most impressive player on the pitch was drogba, every time he got near the ball i thought something magical was going to happen, i think this guy might be something real special, so of course after the game i played a tournament with marseille in WE7i....

LOL - CSaw - I did the same thing. Played Marseille v Milan as soon as the game ended.

I think we agree that Chelsea played better except for the final 20 minutes of the game.

Milan scored some great goals, but overall, i was not impressed with what i saw. Of course it should be different as the season goes on and Seedorf and Pirlo play.

God - and Stam too.

Sorry ive been out of here for a long time, been caught up with WE8.

Latest shit

Reds enquire about Duff.
Abromavich laughs at them.

Alrite T, this thread lacks abit of class when your away.

Good summer???

You must be buzzin for next season.

Hello mate! How you been keeping? The summer has been good. Just back from South Africa last week so have been a bit out of the picture. We're looking good, there's no doubt about that - but I will never under estimate our ability to shoot ourselves in the foot

South Africa, nice!!

defo beats a rainy summer in manchester anyway.

I saw abit of your pre season and you's looked proper bo, this summers buys look very good. In the past you's have have always paid over the odds for players who sometimes lack the application, I was reading that even Ranners turned up late for training sometimes but this new guy is the exact opposite, and that can make the difference.

Over a week to go and with Arsenal losing Paddy its the toughest season to call for awhile.

Agreed mate, with Paddy leaving (finger's crossed) it would be a massive blow to them. I'm sure they'll find a replacement, but will he turn out to be an Henry or a Stepanovs? Personally, I don't think Wenger is as shrewd with transfers as the press make out.

Liverpool will be a much stronger team this year, simply because they don't have that cretin in charge anymore. God I miss him! I don't think they have the strength in depth for a proper tilt at the title this year, but if they get some money from their Bangkok Chick Boy they could be tough oppostition next year.

And then there is your bunch. I haven't a clue how you'll do to be honest. A lot of that squad looks weak to me. A lot of it is still top class, and then there are the players that I'm not sure about. You could finish anywhere from 1st to 5th in my book!

Terry, humour me. Why is Mourinho going to let Mutu go to Juventus on loan, leaving us with 3 strikers?
Kezman has a ban for the 2nd, 3rd and fourth matches of the season to boot. So that's DD and Eidur. Perhaps he wants to use master Cole as a deeper striker, or indeed give Felipe Oliveira some match experience. He may favour him, being a fellow countryman.
Don't you think it leaves us a bit short upfront with all those games/comps to go?

Bit of a stupid one isn't it.

Joe Cole's finishing leaves alot to be desired and Oliveira is just to young and inexperienced.

I really cannot see us buying anybody new, now would be the perfect opportunity to recall Forssell!
(But we can't do that until January at the earliest.)
