alomost a whole new team already, im really curious at how Chelski is gonna perform this season, they obviously bought quality players, but now its up to Mourinho to make a footballing machine out of them as he did at Porto...

Not as many as Beskitas though
But seriously, see how many have now left the Bridge, either on loan or released (finally that lumox Bogarde has gone for good =; )

Winston Bogarde (released)
Marcel Desailly (released)
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Middlesbrough, free)
Mario Melchiot (Birmingham, free)
Emmanuel Petit (released)
Mario Stanic (retired)
Juan Sebastian Veron (Inter, season-long loan)
Carlton Cole (Aston Villa, season-long loan)
Jesper Gronkjaer (Birmingham City, £2.2m)
Hernan Crespo (AC Milan, season-long loan)
Mikael Forssell (Birmingham, season-long loan)

then add to that: Zenden, perhaps Sullivan and/or Macho/ Pidgeley.

Mourinho is kicking some arses around and he's only just getting started. I'm glad he's consolidating the squad, and adding depth and strength where neccessary.

..and supposedly R. Carvalho is our last summer signing. I hope they keep their word.

Yes good point, they did get rid of some old players (Desailly, Petit), or players that didnt fit into Mourinho's plans (Veron, Crespo)

Now hes got a squad of about 23 quality players, for every position he has 2 good options, and most are pretty young, so if you keep this team for the next couple of years Chelsea will probably win everything there is to win for them...

fuck!!!!!!!! what has the world come to??? this are the players man u should be getting!!! instead, fergie goes out and get Djemba, Kleberson, Heinze and Smith!!! arh!! someone stop tat old man...

IDIOT ALERT!!!

Anyways, congrats to you Blues...Carvalho is gonna be maaaasive.
you forgot ronaldo, saha, bringing on the young fletcher, and United have other young players on the reserve squad who should be stars in the near future, Kleberson could be a gem as well...... and I have seen Henize play and im very impressed, chelsea will be in the same posiiton they were in last year A WHOLE NEW TEAM, BUT a brand new cocky coach, its getting to the point where if chelsea dont win the title, they might be considered a laughing stock of the league, at least if they dont win it in the next three years.... I like the players chelsea have broght in, but they all need to get used to each other, and they will need to gel, it seems to me arsenal and manu teams have all had time playing together, either on the france/england national team or for arsenal/manu teams, they were not all brought in, in one season, anyways good luck too all, and may the best team win the title

To all you people who come on here and post about chelsea constantly buyin a new team, maybe read the thread a bit before. We've already discussed that mourinho aims not to spend any money after cavarlho. And i believe that

f U phrase... why do u all sound like man u are paying money to you all to speak about them to this point? why? i bet u buy the latest man u jersey's so u can feel a part of the team. i like man u because i like their style of play, u mean i can't be critical about them? why? is ferguson your granddad or something?

Recieved some tickets for the first set of matches.. Man Utd, Spuds, Pool and Soton... should be good.

My team for start of the season...

--------------Cudicini (or Cech)------------------

Ferreira-------Terry---Carvalho-----------Bridge

--------------------Smertin------------------------

------------Lampard--------Robben------------

--------------------Gudjohnsen-----------------

---------------Kezman----------------------------

-----------------------------Drogba

*I've picked Carvalho so he can deal wth Van Nistelrooy he is a great man marker.* I wouldn;t be adverse to sticking in Gallas at right back a she is better than Fereira.

Smertin has had a great pre season and Euro 2004.. he's got it all.. skill, passing, tackling and work ethic. He's better than Makalele who will just sit (and dive) Maka's styill a great player though and I expect him to start.

I'd always play Guddy either behind the front two or as one of them his link play is to amazing IMO.. i'd also play Joe Cole in that position behind the strikers or Duff on the left and Robben in behind.

Against United. I would choose...

[4-4-2]

Cudicini
Gallas
Terry
Carvalho
Bridge
Makelele
Lampard
Robben
Parker/Geremi
Drogba
Gudjohnsen

Bench:
Cech
Kezman
Duff
Ferriera
Smertin

looks very good, and very scary, on paper anyway.

How can u leave kezman out after the start hes made to his chelsea career?
And also i think duff will be injured for the man yoo game so robben should start.
Good news is heinze and ronaldo wont be playin for united!

Well for a manager he's too young to judge, but he's already surpassed expectations, and he seems ruthless enough, which is usually the difference between 1st and 2nd.

With the sqaud they've they've gotta be favourites for, well pretty much everything, its just up to everyone else to raise their game.

Favorites for everything? I wouldn't be too sure. And I definitely wouldn't be surprised if Chelsea end up with nothing by next summer. The team needs to gel, we said the same thing last year. Now they just bring in a whole bunch of new, but better, players. So another season might be necessary. However Chelsea will definitely be one of the most interesting teams to watch next season, and I'll be tipping them and Man U over Arsenal for the Premiership title.

Well the final score wasw 3-0, Kezman got sent off for getting into a fight with dacourt in an attempt to stick up for Robben after that brutal tackle from Olivier Dacourt, who also got sent off. Drogba got his first goal in a chelsea kit, the new one which i must add, the black and grey one.

cool!! Chelsea won again. Hope the player wont get any serious injury in the US.

Robben and Joe Cole had to come off injured, but weve still got a long time until the Milan game so the guys can chill and relax in the US. Go sight seeing, you know, the usual holiday stuff. OH, and TRAIN.

Roma played crap, Totti played, but Cassano didnt, neither did Mancini. Roma never came forward, only through free kicks and set pieces, their best shot on goal was probably, the late far strike by some guy starting with a D, and that was tipped over by Cech too, it wasnt a major event in the match. And as for Dacourt, actually I wont comment on his behaviour.

Dacourt was pathetic. Big props to Kezman for running to his teammate's aid and laying down the law. . . too bad he got red carded for it.

Roma looked poor, except Totti, who seemed to have no help. It was futile. He needs to go somewhere else where he can win something cuz that team is in financial disarray.

as far as Chelski, goes. . . Good Lord. It is gonna be a scary season for the rest of the EPL. . .and Europe. They are deep in talent at every position and with several players being able to play in multiple positions, I think they are exceptionally prepared for the rigours of the football calendar.

I thought the new squad woukd need a season to gel, but they havent looked like that's gonna be a problem based on the last 2 exhibitions. The Robben and Kezman connection is liable to explode at any moment, and it showed yesterday. Drogba was a gazelle and a tiger wrapped into one. Lampaard and Terry were solid as usual. And Joe Cole looked great as well.

Every time a sub came in I was thinking. .this guy is better than the man he replaced. . and that other guy was great! LOL.

Lord have mercy on the opposition. . . cuz Chelsea certainly wont.

At PSV, they actually used to call Kezman 'Batman' because of his lethal connection with Robben. I don't think it's any coincidence either that they both came to Chelsea. They really are very good together and Mourinho's hoping to capatilise on that. I remember when JFH and Gudjohnsen had this excellent combined scoring record together and Chelsea really benefitted form it. Something similar is definitely on the cards here. Your left side connections might even start competing with Arsenal's now. ;)

Kezman and Robben are the two players im most looking forward to seeing this season

btw Sullivan has gone to Leeds

mourinho rules
best coatch in the word
porto fans want him back
go chelsea go fc porto

I'm glad to hear the former PSV'ers play so good. I do hope they will do very well next season. I believe Robben is maybe the best winger in the world and Kezman is one of the best finisher there are. I'm glad they are still at the same club and I hope Mourinho plays them a lot.

Btw, STR, I'm a PSV fan and I never heard the name 'batman' for Kezman

PSV fans christened their hero Batman and played the Caped Crusader's theme tune after each of his 28 goals last season, a possibility Chelsea are also considering. Kezman seems slightly bemused by his unlikely nickname but it's surely better to be compared to Batman than Arkan, a rather less celebrated Serbian hitman.

Kezman said: "At PSV they played the Batman song and sold a lot of shirts, so it was a good financial decision. After every goal they played the theme tune and if I score a lot of goals here, then they should do the same."
- The Evening Standard

I read it first in the Times after Kezman was signed but this seems to get the jist of what I was saying. I only see highlights of Dutch games and the theme is overrided by the commentary but surely it's true coming straight from the horse's mouth? Anyway, you should know best.

Neil Sullivan is a legend...

To Gooners ofcourse.. Crap for Tottenham.. and he also enjoys flapping at crosses so the likes of Edu can score open goals.

Anyhow tomorrow is Ac Milan.. another late night for me..will be tougher and tighter than the first two games and Robben/Mutu are out..

IMO

Chelsea 3 Ac Milan 1

Joe Cole, Gudjohnsen, Drogba

Shevshenko for Milan.

Anyone knows where will be possible to see tonight's match between Chelsea and AC Milan? No chance to find info about that

damm u chelsea, stealing our coach! :( our right back, our Centre back! :| almost got Deco, but he still got out to barça!

oh well, i have no doubt that chelsea will rock this year, just give him some weeks, and he will win the premiership...

the starting eleven of chelsea will most likely be:

---------------------------cech---------------------------

---------------Terry ------------R.Carvalho------------

-P.Ferreira -------------------------------------Bridge--

-------------------------Makelele............................

------------Lampard -----------------Robben---------

-------------------------Gudjohnsen-------------------

----------------Kezman----------Drogba--------------

or he might use this midfield configuration:
a flat line like this....

Mutu--------Lampard--------Makelele-------Robben-

or swapping mutu for kezman in this midfield....
who knows... let's see...

mourinho on porto used rotation, so that will surelly happen here 2, since all players are good... :D
