As a portuguese and being aware of all football news and rumours here i can say i'm 99% sure Mourinho will go to Chelsea. Although i think it would be better for him to go to Liverpool but...

There is no doubt that R. Carlos is a GREEDY BASTARD!!

Btw, glad to see Lampard stay at Stamford bridge.

how is he greedy, I think it's clever to want a 4 year contract at Real Madrid, we've seen how loyal Perez is to older members of the team when they show signs of liability.

Yeh Lamps Staying is hella important. But honestly, I do not want Carlos to come. What if he gets injured? His fitness levels will eventually slow down, hes god damn 31.

Cafu is still going strong, and Maldini - yes they have degraded but they form part of the best defense in europe right now.

Carlos will slow down, will get worse - but he still has 2 years left at LEAST.

But I'm glad you don't want him as I don't ever want to see him leave :(

Who so that match with france against brazil and Mendy paced out R. Carlos, if that was a 25 year old version of him i don't think Mendy would have gone very far.

i wanna see carlos and mourinho come to chelsea! carlos is one of the best full backs in the world, i dont care bout individual players feelings, he is better than bridge. and mourinho looks a very clever and disciplined manager, id love to see what he can do for us! very promising times ahead! i hope! [-o<

Knowing Mourino.. he will always prefer taller full backs. Of course he loves R. Carlos, but Carlos isn't that young explosive full back anymore. Mourino previlges taller fullbacks that can help in aerial defensive challenges.

Deco eyes English switch

Porto playmaker Deco says that he would like to play in England, adding to rumours he might follow coach Jose Mourinho to The Premiership.

The Portuguese coach looks to be heading to Stamford Bridge to replace Claudio Ranieri at Chelsea, and his number ten could well be following him.

The Brazilian-born playmaker scored the second goal in Porto's UEFA Champions League final win over Monaco on Wednesday night, which earned him the Man of the Match award.

The 26-year-old says that he likes the Premier League and, despite interest from Bayern Munich, he can see himself moving to England.

"I've got a special liking for the English championship," the Portugal international said at the opening of his jewellery shop.

"The idea of playing in England excites me.

"I know there are other offers and Bayern Munich want me. They're a great club and I'm flattered."

Chelsea will be firm favourites to land Deco, especially should Mourinho take the helm, as the coach will be eager to bring in his own players as soon as possible.

Where would Deco play then? In place of Lampard? Out on the right?

Oh and there after Drogba. Everyone think of the first striker that enters your head, Chelsea will be linked with him (except if he ain't there already).

The man is a talent and cool with the ball, but I actually wondered the same thing this past week. I dont know that he will adjust to the speed and physcial nature of English football, but I will be the first one to watch it when he does.

I think Deco is talented enough to play out wide as well as the middle, and I actually think i read that he had played out right before.

On a related note, any Tottenham fans have the answer for Postiga's failure to adapt to the EPL? Do you think it will be the same for Deco?

2 straightforward considerations:

a ) He is already a star lol. He has just been crowned CL champion, last year UEFA champion and mastermind in ofensive midfield between these 2 titles lol. He is also a member o Portugal national team. Are you suggesting he has too prove in domestic english league, in a club that won zip untill today (chelsea, although I'm fan it's true) to show he is a star? doesn't make sense:).

b ) If David "I know how to cross and kick but that's it" Beckham is such a star then Deco can surely be one.

Beckham is a star for different reasons than his ability on the field, the fact he is English also helps matters.

Deco will be as famous as Veron and other players of that ilk, but will always be, and are more respected for their ability on the pitch rather than off it ;)

I don't think we can predict whether he will be any good in the Premiership, and he is prone to playing badly and inconsistently so we will just have to wait and see.

I don't think he is anywhere near Zidane/Kaka quality of playmaker.

And I think that is the point I was getting at. Like I said Deco is clearly talented, but so is (was?) Veron. . . until he went to the EPL. And Postiga was a horrible flop in the EPL.

You can be a great player and still not mesh correctly unless you are in the right circumstances, position, etc. Remember, Henry was not a superstar in Italy, but became one in the EPL.

How come Beckhams' detractors never wanna mention his fire and his motor? I am not a HUGE Becks fan, but it is clear that for both club and country, the guy does not concede defeat easily and truly has a fighting heart. So he is not Figo or Zidane at creating. He would never claim to be either.

yes but beyond his fire and determination there is not much else about Beckhams game to shout about, and when you consider the circus he brings and the money he demands - plus the money he costs - it doesn't mean much to me.

I disliked Beckham before it became fashionable too ;)

I will respect him as an average player, and I think he is a great squad captain for England - but beyond that there isn't much else - and Real Madrid need more (either signficant defensive, or offense).

do you no nothing about football? because if you did beckham top skill is his passing, free kicks! not his determination! hes playing as a defensive midfielder in a attacking team which obviously he is not! and apart from the end of the season he was playing well id put him in the top three players for madrid this year and ive seen nearly all there games!

what do you guys think about the "supposed" 17m bid for drogba!?

I don't agree, I am not a fan of Beckham but when he played with Man u, I had to hold my breath when he was playing against my team. Whether it was a pinpoint long pass to a forward, volleying a shot from the right wing, taking a crucial freekick or anytime he was crossing in from the right or taking a cornerkick. Shearer, Ronaldo, and RVN have publicly said they love to play with this guy. RVN prefers him to C. Ronaldo. The man has ice water in his vains when the match is on the line. There is a reason for this. The problem is the hype.
Deco is amazing but I also think he will have a problem in England, number 1 he won't be able to go down so easy when touched without hearing about it, he's too lightweight for such a physical league, I think he would also have problems in Germany. He does not appear to be quick like Zola or Juninho, other small skillful players who were successful in England. He's better suited for La Liga.

Sources say, apparently Mourinho has given Mr A. a list with 8 players names on it, that he wants at the Bridge. Two of the players on that list are Porto players, defender Ricardo Carvalho and right-back Paulo Ferreira.....So that's probably in addition to Deco and now Costinha who says he wants to follow him. The media are going to have to come up with a new name, Chelski is so last season. Chelso? Portsea?

how is Zola playing, I mean is he changing the shape of the team, playing up to standards?

I can't see him returning to Chelsea, as Mourinho will prefer deco, so too will Abromovich.

Don't claim to know anything about football really, and I'm not sure whether I've had this arguement with you already or not, (maybe it was SulphericX?) but basically his passing isn't a skill attributed to him alone, nor is his faded ability to knock in every concievable dead-ball situation he comes across - it's a very crowded area with lots of players capable of the same feats.

I don't deny he can't occasionally drop a killer ball in front of Ronaldo/Owen/Nistelrooy (etc..) - but I'd prefer a player that can take on his opponents AND pass just as, if not better - such as Zidane and numerous other playmakers.

Beckham is average in the grand scheme of things.

but this is subjective of course, and your free to disagree ;)
