C'mon Boro, you must've been into footy long enough to know that chelsea fans have never been the brightest....

Lol very good point Vann. Id bet almost all of the clubs in England (bar possibly Arsenal and Man U) would welcome Ranieri with open arms. Id even extend that to Scotland, most in Spain, most in Italy and so on and so forth. He's a great manager and it baffles football fans like myself why they want rid of him. Utterly unreal. :l

Bit of a sweeping statement there Vnz, eh ;) I didn't think you could scholastically pigeonhole football supporters. No matter though, as i'm safe in the knowledge that i had a good education, up to and through University, and i now live in and own my own flat in London. Not bad for a Chelsea fan. :)

I dont know what they call themselves, but I know they've been around supporting chelsea alot longer than alot of the "new fans" and they make up the % of travelling support, hence me knowing who they are....

Blues move for Peru starlet
Thursday, 20 May 2004

by Patricio Figueroa

Chelsea are being linked with move for striker Jefferson Farfan, with a view to the Peru international gaining experience with Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven.

The 19-year-old, who plays for Alianza Lima, is one of the country's most promising talents and has already been targeted by Bundesliga duo Werder Bremen and Hamburg.

Chelsea have made an offer for the marksman, which is currently under review by the South American outfit, though it is unlikely he will be playing at Stamford Bridge anytime soon.

Farfan's agent Jose Luis Catalan is currently on route to England to thrash out a deal that would see The Blues land one of Peru's most exciting talents.

"We have been talking to Chelsea's representatives for a couple of days," said Lima spokesman Carlos Flores.

"They made a serious offer and we are analysing it. Their idea is to send Farfan to some other team for a year."

Mexican side Cruz Azul and Argentine outfit River Plate are also keen on the striker, but have balked at Lima's £1.2 million valuation of the starlet.

Spanish La Liga outfit Tenerife rivalled Chelsea with a bid for Farfan, however it was deemed insufficient and was rejected by the South American team.

Former Peruvian star Guillermo "Chemo" Del Solar has likened Farfan to Barcelona's Argentina international Javier Saviola, who possess lightning speed and a superb finish.

"He could be a kind of Saviola, because he is very similar to him. He's fast with great agility and scores many goals," he said.

"Farfan is a very important player. He has been the best Peruvian player for at least one and a half years."

heh, i know this guy in PES3, he's a good young striker. Check him out.

Is he, isn't he? Quality player though.

Fernando Morientes has revealed he is close to joining a new club with French sources claiming the Real Madrid striker is on the brink of signing for Chelsea.

The experienced hit-man was the West Londoners' chief tormentor in the UEFA Champions League semi-final but had been expected to return to Real when his loan spell with Monaco expired.

However, the Spanish forward has since hinted at a possible move to London and, despite rumours that his destination could be champions Arsenal, it is believed Chelsea are in pole position to snap up the 28-year-old.

"We are close to a solution," Morientes told L'Equipe. "We can say it is settled at 90 percent.

"I like the project a lot, but the finalisation of the contract can need a little more time.

"So it is possible, meanwhile, from the end of the season, that I will go back to Real Madrid."

Roman Abramovich has reportedly offered a five-year contract to somebody who impressed the Russian owner with his appearances in Europe with a €12 million offer winging its way to El Santiago Bernabeu.

Valencia are potential rivals for Morientes's signature and they could have an Ace up their sleeve if they offer combative captain Roberto Ayala in exchange, but Chelsea appear to be clear favourites.

This is pretty messed up.
Chelsea have 4 strikers. 5 if we get Morientes.
They are already struggling with the current rotation system.
I do think however, that we lost out on Samuel.
This is because if we did get Samuel, the defence would look more like this...
Bridge Terry Samuel Gallas
than like this...
Bridge Terry Huth/Gallas Gallas/Johnson/Melchiot

Shame that, also; remember that your squad is supposed to be on the verge of a complete makeover if the tabloids are to be believed (which they aren't) - I think most of the stories linking chelsea to a big name player are more than just speculation, and simply false.

Morientes is a real possiblity though, however I would prefer he goes to Arsenal where he has said he wouldn't mind - as at least they'd respect him as a player - where'as at Real he is marginilised and at Chelsea his future will be in doubt when Abromovich gets a hard-on for another ;)

I think Mutu is as good as anyone on his day. Hes just had a crap season, im sure he will be back next season if they play him regularly. You see, its very hard for Chelsea strikers to do well, with this rotation system. Im proud of Hasselbaink showing the others that it is no problem for him. However, that is the only reason Mikael Forsell, is the highest scoring Chelsea player. He gets many many more games than all of them.

I hope we dont turn into another inter milian where they just basically change their team every season (what do they have to show for it?)

Well, if Ranieri goes, the next guy, whoever it may be, won't be as much of a tinkeman. He'll find his 11, and probably stick with it. I've no doubt that a lot of players (mostly the fringe ones, and the odd unexpected one) will be leaving the Bridge this summer as well. I hope the Ranieri thing is sorted soon, because we need to start preparing for the next season.

We cant bring Samuel to Stamford, that's make me disappointed. And I think we wont buy as much as player as the last season in this summer. Maybe just 1-3 players.
