Sounds like you was unfourtunate last nite and had lfc under the kosh for most of the match.

Reports that Roman is non-too pleased and you cant blame him after his investment, but IMO this season is already a big improvement on last year and if he's thinking money is gonna buy the league he's gonna be dissapointed, at the mo it seems like the Chelsea of old, but the attitude the club seemed to have towards the league wasnt gonna dissapear over nite and 3rd place is a good foundation to build off.

So on one hand its good to see you's humbled after lording up post Nov30th but on the other I dont want it to be just us and the goons challenging come march.

We weren't lording it up mate, it barely got a mention on here. I know you'd like to think it's our cup final, but I'm afraid it's far from it, unlike your plastic mates who keep coming on here when we get beat.

We weren't unlucky, we were out-thought and outfought. Liverpool were the better team and granted that doesn't say much. I think we're finished now. We'll be close all the way, but never close enough to be challenging.

I kept wondering what the Yeovil players must be thinking, 3rd and 4th in the prem and they could have easily beaten both of us! Awful game of football.

Well, no doubt the rumours will start again. What is it? 2 wins in 7? and no CL till February for Ranieri to change some minds. Hope you're joking about Pleat Terry  :l , because i wouldn't want him. My guess would be another foreign manager, if it was to happen, perhaps.......Italian ;) . However, it would be interesting to see an English manager at the Bridge again. What i want is a manager with an overwhelming mental influence, because that's where our biggest problem lies. When we're confident we're great, but as soon as the plot begins to get lost, the screws start coming out and disaster ensues. :l

Man this forum is starting to sound like the Spurs one  . to tell the truth lads your in as much danger as could be expected. you have shot yourselves in the foot by playing so well at the start of the season and now you are having a little bad patch the seasons over. Sven will be your manager next season.

We've been pretty bad all season. Only the two Lazios, Wolves and Newcastle were good performances. What's saved us is that the rest of the Premiership is so poor.

I was talking about Chelsea fans in general, I got some interesting txts after that game. :)

But fair enough if lfc deserve the credit, a fella here at work said you's should've had a pen for a Hypia challenge on Mutu and he's a scouser so I took that as you's being unlucky.

I cant see us winning every match so it only takes a couple of good/bad results for either of the three and its all up in the air again and ya right back in it, look at us last year, I thikn you'll be challenging more than think T.

TBH I still cant believe we're in the position we are and we've been shite for most part of the year, obviously with my red-specs on I'd like us to win no matter what, but I'd like to see it won by a team playing superior football to the rest of the league.

The perfect manager for Chelsea: Johan Cruijf!!!!!
With Abramovich' money and the spectacular football Cruijf preaches, regular Stamford Bridge visitors would be the most happy fans in the world....

Maybe if Mutu hadn't spent the entire 90 minutes looking for a pen, he might actually have got the one he deserved! The ref got sick of him by the end.

Yeh, I think we're still in it......I'm just in a sour mood today. Everything is black! ;)

See if any of these rumours can sprinke any optimism on ya day T, the 2nd one sounds very interesting...

from the guardian:

Santos have been shouting from the rooftops that 604800000 roubles (about £12.6m, since you have to ask) have been promised to them should Brazilian defender Lucio arrive at Stamford Bridge neatly packaged in time for February.

The links between Chelsea and Real Madrid chubster Ronaldo have been renewed too, after it was revealed that the striker was on his way to watch last night's match when Florentino Perez caught wind of it and summoned him back immediately. The day trip would perhaps have been less damning, had the porky poacher not been spotted with Claude Makelele's agent Marc Rogers. That's the agent of Claude Makelele, former Real Madrid player, current Chelsea player. Hmmm.

Ronaldo is an alcoholic apparently. Nothing will cheer me upo today Vann! We need a lift though, maybe we could sign Shane Richie!

The way the boy plays he could be a crackhead as far as im concerned :)

C'mon T it aint that bad, if I told you where you'd be this time last season I dont reckon you'd have believed me.

It is depressing though, because, say you finish the season strongly and come within 2 or 3 points of top spot, you have to cite those particular losses/dips in form as culpable. eg, if only we didn't concede that freak last minute goal to Arsenal, if only we had beaten Bolton etc. Anyway, the past is behind us, you can't dwell on it.

Its the best way to be mate, when I was younger I used to get myself in a rite state when we lost or didnt win something (which was alot in those days).

The older I get the more philosophical I become I s'pose....

T you should be a feckin guru

I am philosophical when we get beat by a brilliant team, I'm philosophical when we lose to a bit of bad luck.

I am apoplectic with rage when a dire team of carthorses come to the Bridge and picks up three points from there one attack, simply because the manager fancies a bit of a dabble with the system for no particular reason. Maybe he was worried traore would undo us with his talent......

He's done us no favours so I think you're right.

Wouldn't you like to be an Arsenal fan for a bit cgiorgal? They've got Thierry Henry!

F**k off, send him to Wolves, their luck can't get any worse!!! :D

New keeper?

And there's now talk of Chelsea reeling in Paul Robinson from Leeds for £2.5m, which aside from making no sense, whatsoever, on any level, will also see Neil Sullivan once again shunted on as part of the deal.

Real Prevent Ronaldo's Chelsea Visit
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is reported to have prevented Brazilian striker Ronaldo from attending Chelsea's home game against Liverpool last night, according to a newspaper report.
It is claimed the trip was purely a social visit for the superstar, although it has also reignited reports he is Roman Abramovich's wish-list.
Ronaldo was making the trip with his agent Marc Roger, the man who orchestrated Claude Makelele's move away from Real Madrid, and according to reports could be offered £125,000-a-week to sign for Chelsea.

Christ, Real are a bit paranoid aren't they!?

I don't rate Robinson at all. Am I wrong, or do I others think he is over rated?

Jeje, almost all Europe is paranoid with Chelsea and Abramovich.

Thats exactly the same story I posted up!!

Anyway damm right they are paranoid, this is why they are far from being "the biggest club in the world" cos they are always on the brink of crumbling financially so Chelsea have got them running scared, Madrid cant match the finances and they know this, ya see everyone says how great Madrid are but barring Beckham they had to spend silly money to get the other "galatico's" so its the money that talks for some of the "big" players, Madrid know this, otherwise they wouldnt care.

The image Madrid project is a big illusion as far as im concerned.

Great, no fantastic on the footballing side of things (aslong as you dont consider defending an important virtue in footy :) )...

but behind the scenes they make man city look proffesional.

I dont rate him at all, apart from that he's a lifelong red :)

I was told he was laughed out of Villa when he had a trial during the summer.

Saying that he might be a good understudy to a senior keeper cos he is young for a GK.

I think it's just Madrid and some of the Italian clubs. (the ones who like to think of themselves as the richest)

Man U and Arse seem to have kept their nerve (and their players ;) )easily enough!

Big players move around a lot in Italy, take Vieri as an example. You don't usually get many big players moving from big club to big club here. Ferdinand was probably the biggest most recently and Leeds were on the way down anyway.

i'm an abramovich-era chelsea fan, mainly because i'm argentinean and I want to see Veron-Crespo play together (sadly it hasn't happened much yet).
I think Chelsea has a lot of good players from before, not necessarily great superstars but good role players; i like the forward players hasselbaink, gronkjaer, and gudjohnsen; lampard and cole are easily among England's best players, and bridge and johnson are promising young defenders with good size and speed. I think with the reinforcements they've got, plus maybe one central defender, they are easily a top 5 team- at least in terms of talent, on paper.
sadly i live in the US so I don't get to see many games; i'm currently unemployed so I was able to watch liverpool v chelsea. what a disappointment. the game was a disgrace: first, because the liverpool won by playing ugly, counter attack football (with little success), made worse by a refusal to risk creating anything once the lead was taken. if i paid to go to the stadium, i would be furious, watching liverpool players boot the ball out of bounds is not entertainment. but this was made much worse, bythe chelsea players failure to expose their opponents. as an argentine, i am familiar with the scenario- talented squad, opposition plays to surive, and the 90mins run out with nothing but frustration.
Ranieri has to find a way to motivate the players but keep them disciplined. Mutu for example, was going crazy at the end, but he wasn't in control. on the other hand gudjonsen seemed to disappear as time wore on. two extremes of what not to do. I'm not judging them forever on this one game, but what I'm getting at is that the manager/staff has to prepare and motivate the players' appropriately for them to manage game-scenarios properly: part of that is assembling a squad with good character and mental stability, and another part is maximizing the morale of the existing squad. From what i was able to see, this is Chelsea's biggest need, Abramovich cannot buy determination and chemistry.

another thing- if i was ranieri, i would've kept cole on and taken lampard off instead, cole looked energetic and determined while lampard's accuracy was off, his passes looked a bit lazy (maybe from being played too much)

Yer crap and you know you are!! However many players you have, you'll never be able to hack it with the bug guns.
