No idea. I don't even have any idea on the team, never mind the result!

Maybe Melchiot will come in, maybe Mutu will get a start.

Well, I came quite close for the Saints game, so here is tomorrows team:

Ambrosio........Kidding!

It will be:

Cudicini

Melchiot
Bridge
Terry
Gallas

Geremi
Duff
Cole
Lampard

Mutu
Crespo

No, I don't think so either.......

What's all this then...?

Inter move for Hasselbaink

Inter have been linked with a January move for Chelsea’s Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. The Dutch striker is seen by Inter as a replacement for the suspended Mohammed Kallon. Inter are hoping that he can leave the Premiership side on a free transfer.

Would he go? I don't think they'll give him an attractive wage. Plus he's getting goals and games at the Bridge.

Very little news at the moment. Rumours that Inter are about to transfer list Vieri and that we'll pick him up and Jimmy going to Inter or Barcelona.

C'mon Prof, get with the program! That's old news. I doubt Jimmy would leave, but I want him to. Too many dis-interested displays of late.

IMO, if JFH leaves, its either going to be back to highbury, or perhaps to OT, unless these speculations have been brought aside already, and as for ambrosio starting ;) ... YOU ACTUALLY HAD ME THERE FOR A SECOND! ;)

I very much doubt anyone in England will want Jimmy, or that he'll want them. And on last night's showing, let's hope we stear clear of Vieri - how bad was he!?

The reason for Vieri's poor form, despite his goal, is he's in a big sulk at the moment. Another reason not to sign him really. Sulkers aren't good for the team. But on form, he is a good striker, and would suite the Prem, imo.

Does Vieri ever smile when he scores? It's like he scores and then he's all 'So I scored - big f*cking deal!' He's a good striker, but I don't like his personality at all.

Anyway, a question to you guys in the know - what's up with Manu (as in Petit)?

Well, he had blood poisoning - then he came back - now he's injured again this time with an Achilles or Hamstring problem. I don't think we'll see him again until the new year.

We have a bit of a problem tonight (and Sunday). Veron and Petit will definitely miss both games and Makelele is doubtful too.

Now, if my calculations are correct, a draw for us tonight, and a win for Lazio at home to Besiktas, will see us as group winners, no? Because that'll put us on 10 points, with Lazio 2nd on 7 points. One game left, even if we lose it and Lazio win (both on 10 points), we have a better record against them. Naturally i'd rather have the win, and all the kids can play in the remaining Besiktas game. ;)

PS recall Smertin

It wasn't pretty, but I guess being there is the most important thing. I gather you had a good trip?

I hope you go through too - as long as we don't draw you!

BALLACK TO JOIN CHELSEA?

Reports in Germany suggest big-spending Chelsea could swoop to sign international midfielder Michael Ballack. The Blues have brought some of the world's top players to the club since the arrival of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich in the summer.

More than £100million has been spent on the likes of Hernan Crespo, Claude Makelele and Damien Duff, and now it seems Ballack could be added to that list. The 27-year-old midfielder still has two years to run on his contract, but with money not being an issue for Chelsea, it has been suggested the move could be completed in the summer.

Just where he will fit in remains to be seen, with the likes of Makelele, Duff, Joe Cole, Emmanuel Petit, Frank Lampard, Geremi, Juan Sebastian Veron and Jesper Gronkjaer all already vying for midfield places. Another question is whether the former Leverkusen man would be willing to leave Bayern, although he has recently been involved in a war of words with general manager Uli Hoeness, who questioned the player's fitness.

I really think we should look for defensive midfielders only at the moment. Ones, like Makelele, who stay back and don't venture forward for glory. cool headed ones too, not Edgar Davids characters. Let's face it, Maka isn't always going to be available is he? Petit is injured. Perhaps when Smertin returns it'll be ok. I say let's buy Ilola, he's great in my ML team.

Excellent thanks, the Italians were very welcoming(!) . The san siro is the best place I've watched a football match in.

I don't think we can meet you until either the quarters or the semi's. It would be a close game over 2 legs though. I know you haven't beaten us for a while but you will have to one day. Lets hope its not too soon though!!! :)

It's hard to keep your feet on the ground after a result like you just had! The Prague game was a bit like that last night, we were expecting a good result but Sparta just bricked their goal up. Frustrating, but something you have to deal with.

I don't ever want to meet Arsenal in any competition ever - you lot have been up to some weird voodoo shit or something from the matches we've played in the last few years!

I think you will get to the semi's at least, as I think your team is geared up to playing in Europe. The champions league is about just doing enough to get through each round. Whats the point of winning all 6 group games only to be knocked out over 2 legs in the 2nd round. Chelsea have done enough to go through so good luck to you.

Yeah, who is this 20 year old Brazilian striker, Nilmar? Apparently he wouldn't feature for 12 months anyway, as he wouldn't get a permit, hence loaning him out to CSKA.

Any Brazilians got any info on him?

I guess not. ;)

Apparently we are playing Besiktas in Gelsenkirchen! I'm going to see if I can get time off from work! Where is it near???

Gelsenkirchen is in the Ruhr-area: Dortmund, Bochum, Duisburg...I think you should best go via Antwerp or Eindhoven and then to Venlo (Dutch border town) after Venlo: Duisburg and then (i think) Gelsenkirchen.

We are signing Ballack in January. That's kosher - good source of mine.

Where are we going to put him!?

In the team...

A good player, and would play at the TOP of the diamond. Duff over to the left, Makelele at the back... and Lampard/Cole/Veron... vying for the RMF slot.

But we aren't signing him so no. Not this season anyway.

haha, if i were you, i wouldn't, why sign another halfback? youve got nearly enough halfbacks and wingers to fill the entire 11! even Geremi, who was one of the "big-hype" players at the beginning of this season, isnt even mentioned in the above quote! albeit ballack is NO geremi, i dont think there are any footballers on the market suitable for chelski, just my opinion ;)

Lampard is without a doubt the heart of our team - he will not be dropped, not even for someone like Ballack

IMO, Lampard is the complete midfielder and a better all round player than Ballack anyway ;)

Lampard is a good player but he goes of the boil alot. He's not overated, he's not under-rated e's the medium. I remember the first game I saw Lampard pay for Chelsea he was shit! He's better now, but if you think Ranieri won't be ruthless if his performance drops then you're wrong. Ranieri has been known to :/. Lampard still needs improvement, we shall see ;).
