BALLACK TO JOIN CHELSEA?
Reports in Germany suggest big-spending Chelsea could swoop to sign international midfielder Michael Ballack. The Blues have brought some of the world's top players to the club since the arrival of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich in the summer.
More than £100million has been spent on the likes of Hernan Crespo, Claude Makelele and Damien Duff, and now it seems Ballack could be added to that list. The 27-year-old midfielder still has two years to run on his contract, but with money not being an issue for Chelsea, it has been suggested the move could be completed in the summer.
Just where he will fit in remains to be seen, with the likes of Makelele, Duff, Joe Cole, Emmanuel Petit, Frank Lampard, Geremi, Juan Sebastian Veron and Jesper Gronkjaer all already vying for midfield places. Another question is whether the former Leverkusen man would be willing to leave Bayern, although he has recently been involved in a war of words with general manager Uli Hoeness, who questioned the player's fitness.
