not villa, they leave a horrid taste in my mouth. I think the east midlands needs a 'big team'.

I use to watch the Pies and the Forest when I lived up there - great days. Forest had a good team at the time, with off his Trolleymore and all!

Not a big fan of Leicester or Derby, so I'd pick one of the Notts teams for a millionaire - or Ilkeston!

I'm all for Grantham becoming the next euro-giants, Martin O'neal used to manage them and they are playing Leyton Orient in the FA cup 1st round proper at the weekend. Maybe Thatcher could donate the millions she nicked using the poll tax ;)

Glad the Geordies had a tough game last night - they're all elbows and fists as it is so we could do with them being a bit knackered.

Did Woodgate play for them last night?

Chelsea eye young talent

Chelsea are targeting Derby's 16-year-old winger Lee Holmes in the first wave of a recruitment drive for England's new generation.
The west London club will begin talks for the England Under-16 star when the January transfer window opens, says the Daily Telegraph newspaper.

Holmes cannot sign a professional deal until his 17th birthday in April.

Chelsea are keen to gather a wealth of young talent to supplement their star-studded £110m squad.

speaking of young talent, are abramavich and boys talking to freddy adu from the states? i assume the kid would like to play in a prem-winning team, and a succesful CL-playing side... i think he could "supplement their star-studded £110m squad. "

but inter have obafemi! i would much rather see obafemi martins play instead of freddie, unless he IS as good as his hype has led me to think... i dont know about a young american playing at the stadio meazza...

hes 15 for gods sake...he wont play.
hahaha in that case then, i don't think he should come at all until he is of appropriate age! at 15, play more in the MLS or something, and then come to the big times, and make something happen

oh well then, let him do a little bit better in the states first, then bring him in for several weeks, and if he doesnt do as well as he was expected to... bring him throught the clubs juniour system

The current boys in Blue are all I'm interested in. This Adu stuff has been hyped up beyond all reason - has anyone even seen him play? I'm sure Zenden can perform a few tricks, but he's still shite.

Anyway, my match report from last night is this: "Get in!"

Feeling horribly hungover today..... ;)

Oy keep ur Russian away from our youngsters

Chelsea have replaced the tean to watch in the prem now for me which last season was Arsenal

Chelski will steamroller the league when they all gel together properly.

I doubt we'll steamroller anyone, football has a funny habit of not working out the way you think it will. We might win the league this year, but then again.....we might not. I asked a magic 8 ball, and it said we wouldn't this year, so that's all the authority I need for now! ;)

Despite winning 4-0 and 5-0, I still have some doubts about the diamond formation we are playing.

I think we are definitely looking at signing a few promising youngsters, but I do worry about 'poaching' other teams players. Say we were to sign this guy Holmes on the cheap and he turns into the next Ryan Giggs (A big ask!) - not really fair on Derby, is it? In fact, what would be the point of having a youth set up if your best players are taken before they even start playing?

Ahhhhh, another wonderful thrashing, though it has to be said - Newcastle were horrible yesterday.

Still, it was another good team showing. Man, I could get used to this.;)

Hey T, some result that yesterday I thought Chelsea would win but 5-0, I remember your lot doing that to us a few years ago, it aint nice...

Surely now you must be thinking "it could be our year"

Having a settled team is more important than a huge squad. Look at Arsenal and Man U over the past few seasons, the first 11 can virtually pick itself. You can't do that with Chelsea at the moment. Maybe later on in the season but it might be too late by then.

Long time, no speak Vann!

Not at the moment - Claudio's right, there's a long, long way to go yet. I thought Newcastle were horrible yesterday and if teams come to the Bridge and play like that, they are going to leave empty-handed.

It's only a couple of weeks since we got beat by Arsenal which is a much better indicator of where we are at the moment, but every game for us is going to be a big test - I'm taking nothing for granted.

That's all very well, but if Henry or Horse got injured, your title hopes would be effectively over.

Your just an old timer though mate, keeping a lid on it ey, fair enough. Theres a bit of a gap opening up between the top three and the rest, could get a bit tasty this year. Newcastle have been piss poor this year but still, its a big win.

Yeh - it's gone from a 2 horse race to a 3 horse race. Not exactly great, but if Newcastle, Liverpool and Blackburn can't get their acts together, then what can you do?......I'm just enjoying being one of the horses for once! ;)

I'm not going to get too excited because Chelsea, more than most clubs probably, have the uncanny ability to shit on me from a great height whenever I get carried away!

Your just a pessimistic old sod hahaha

Nah Im the same, but f*ck me if it looks like your lot are starting to gel, 4 against Lazio and 5 against the magpies, thats gotta get ya juices flowing T.

Its good that you've joined the race, and im enjoying it but there isnt as much pressure on us to win the title as there was last year so it does feel different, there is only our two teams to play each other now from the top three, now that I am looking forward to........

I know what you mean, but you still get three points for a win no matter who you beat. I'm only looking at the Southampton game on the 22nd for the time being. Take each game as it comes! ;)

Well, god damn, i posted in here yesterday, but the Debug Mode thing was back. It seems to plague this place!
Anyway, what a win eh boys, Duff's goal was great. Nice to see Hernan scoring too, 5 goals in 6 games, and little Glen looked chuffed didn't he.
Well, hopefully Claudio is starting to see a starting eleven in the lineup. It's pretty much what i saw (well, wanted to see) at the beginning of the season. The back two can vary between Desailly, Gallas and Terry, keep Johnson and Bridge. The midfield musn't change, Duff IS our Giggsy, Lampard is frankly better than Veron, he's come on in leaps and bounds that boy, but there is space for both when Makalele is playing, and i like the Crespo Mutu pairing upfront, as Jimmy and Eidur do a good job as subs.

.......let's just keep it up.
