Chelsea FC thread (Champions!)

Indeed Prof, a draw would be a very good result...a draw in an away match is always a good result in the Champions League...I rate this Lazio team higher than the surprise package last year...

Mihaljovic reckons they're going to win comprehensively, the usual pre-match banter and finger waving. So i hope we suprise them, an early goal would be nice. No Desailly, is a shame, as this is his kind of game. His experience would be an asset in such a game. Crespo is 60/40 as to whether he'll play, due to a groin injury. Again a shame, as i'd like to see him and Veron linking up together, and the man Mutu as well, of course. I'm going to be glued to the TV myself tonight.

Sadly, Norwegian television is only showing an edited version of the match at a quarter to eleven, lasting an hour. A shame, but better than nothing at all.

I think me and Prof are the only people in the country who still have those OnDigital boxes so we'll be able to watch it ok!

I do miss having Sky though.....

gotta say though, Sky Sports News is always keeping me informed. It's the next best thing to having Sky  . Wouldn't mind having all those matches on one screen 8) . Anyway it's ITV2 tonight. On another note, Ranieri says he wants to win tonight. Don't we all, but i hope it doesn't mean he's going to play Duff in goal and implement a 1-1-2-1-3-1-1 system. :l

i just read chelsea have everything set to take Roberto Ayala from Valencia!! i think he is one of the top central defenders in europe and will really strengthen their weakest area, too bad he will not be able to play in the Champs League.. supposedly he will join in january for $12 million

Now then, anyone who follows Serie A will know that Couto and Mihajlovic are a dirty duo, and that's putting it very mildly. Tonight, the latter has shown exactly why he is SCUM!! He does not even deserve to live in the scrot rot of a tramp. He managed 2 red card offences alone in the first half, kicking and spitting at Mutu on two separate occasions. Oh, by the way, the ref is complete rubbish. This incompetent breed of ref needs to be disciplined, i'm sick of refs who don't see anything and call everything wrong, they should be dropped to lower league matches until they can learn their trade properly. I hope Mihajlovic gets pulled up by FIFA. At least gouge his eyes out tear out his tiny black cold heart and.......i'll stop there

btw half time Lazio 0-1 Chelsea (Crespo '15)

Well done lads, bloody well done. FT Lazio 0-4 Chelsea Lazio didn't play football, it was a type of Backyard Wrestling off-shoot, including kicking, spitting and shoving. If they want to know why they lost, they ought to look at their own performance.

"Hi, i'm Matteo Sereni. I don't like to play FA Cup ties against Dagenham and i'm rubbish too."

There'll be no horn beeping motorini tonight in Rome, well, maybe the Roma fans ;)

One simple word 'IMPRESSIVE' :D
haha, ive got more than one word... several actually, amazing effort from the blues, cudnt quite wrap my head around the score tho, even duff said, i read on soccernet, he didnt quite believe the scoreline himself!

A good win - That is a very difficult place to go and get a result and you can see why when they play on the referee, spit, kick and elbow behind the referees back - and yet we won 4-0.

However, I don't think we were fantastic. I have questions about that diamond formation, Johnson and Bridge are too exposed and we will get punished by better teams if we play like that. Veron just seems to me to be a luxury that we can ill afford at times. He had a good game last night, but the cost to the team was that we had very little structure because he was floating about. If we want to play Veron, it should be as part of a 5 man midfield.

That said, Ranners picked a team to beat Lazio and that is what they did! Can't say fairer than that.

Woah! And I predicted 1-1! Hehe, sometimes I love being crap at predicting scores.;)

You guys are simply pathetic, why are we always bothered by your tribal quarrels...This is supposed to be a Chelsea thread...PLEASE....I'M FED UP WITH ARSE AND MANURE GLORY HUNTERS.

Sorry to the sensible posters....

I bought that book you recommended Gerd, I've only read the first chapter but he paints an entertaing picture of the Premier League Chairmen!

Surely Ken is a nice guy deep, deep.......deep down!

Gerd, I am no glory hunting Gooner. When I started supporting them it was 9 years before they won anything, plus I actually go the games (Season Ticket Holder) so get yer facts right.

I was about to congratulate you boys on your wonderfil victory in Rome but don't think I'll bother now.

I guess i paints a picture of the dark side of football...on the one hand all the money makes it possible to see world stars on the other, it spoils a lot...

What i don't like is the fact that clubs from poor football countries are disadvantaged, the competition isn't fair anymore...I often cited the example of Real Madrid. This clubs had loads of debts a couple of years ago, then Perez became president and he made a rather deal with the municidad de Madrid and in day Real Madrid became the richest club in the world who was able to buy Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo and Beckham...in my opinion it's not fair and it spoils the enjoyment i have when i see Zidane playing in a Madrid shirt...

Earlier on i criticised Chelsea and Abramovich, but what i like about Chelsea is the fact that they shook up Real Madrid by buying Makelele...maybe Chelsea can somewhat restore the balance...

I dunno - with Chelsea, it was a case of speculate to accumulate. We were quite good in the 60's and 70's so the club decided to build a big new stand (The East Stand) - the club nearly went bust and we spent the next 20 years in the lower reaches of the old 2nd division.

Ken came a long and for a few years we flitted between the 2nd and 1st divisions. He tried to steady the ship and after a few more years we had enough money to entice Hoddle to Chelsea and sign a couple of good players.

About now, we started to borrow big style for on and off the pitch activities and I think Ken could see that TV money and merchandising would be how he offset the debts. This worked well for a while, but once you spend that money and don't get in to the Champions League, you go the way Leeds have - fortunately Jesper scored that goal against Liverpool at the end of last season, and we convinced a Russian called Roman to love us. ;)

From Boom to Bust then Boom again! ;)

If we annoy the the royalty of football along the way, even better - football will suffocate itself if the same teams win everything every year. I would like to see more crackpot millionaires getting involved with unfashionable clubs because it's the only way football can keep itself fresh.
