THe new Crespo bid has been rejected. Chelsea now have to decide whether to up it, or look elsewhere.

I think with Roman's millions, inter are gonna try to milk this and grab as much money as they can.

Lampard has matured greatly as a player this past season - and ranieri has to take a lot of the claim for it. Since his first season when he drifted in and out of games, he has been far more consistent and at a high level too.

I feel he now deserves a run in the England team as you have to pick those players on form and Lampard certainly is at both domestic and international level.

I dunno Prof, 3 different stories doing the rounds.

Is it:

a) Inter have turned down a bid
b) Inter are having talks with Chelsea, but not willing to agree on a price
c) A deal had been agreed and just i's to be dotted before he is a Chelsea player.

The answer is:

Buggered if I know!

does this not have something to do with the fact that Ranieri played him out wide too often in his 1st season at the bridge tho. since being more central he has shown true class, his passing is also imense.

Anyone see Lampard's goal last night against Croatia? A sweet strike, and well set up too, and he almost got a second, minutes later.

Yep, very nice goal. And was is just me or was dyer on-side when he scored?

Loz - yes absolutley. Playing in central midfield and having Petit last season to sit and hold allowed him to get forward more and take advantge of his natural insticts to have a go from long range or thread through telling passes.

Be interesting to see how he does this season alongside Veron.

Hopefully they'll both be threading superb passes up front and to the wide men all season, resulting in lots of goals. :D

Prof, are Aeroflot a Russian equivalent to Fly Emirates or something?

Now what's this all about. Chelsea are checking out 20 year old Swedish starlet Kim Kallstrom. Bordeaux are also interested, but as Chelsea are interested in his potential, they would be willing to loan him out to the French side.

Mark, it's to do with the whole Roman/Russian thing, Fly Emirates--->Aeroflot, Chelski, blah blah blah.

The joke was that our next sponsor would be Aeroflot. RA used to own part of the company.

They are a Russian equivalent of British Airways, but with a safety record that, I think it would be fair to say, is slightly left of centre.

The way things are going, sometime in the future, all tranfers will be handled through Chelsea as we will own everyone, and merely rent players out to other teams.

All except big Emile.

Prof:No

Few minutes later....

Prof: Mark, it's to do with the whole Roman/Russian thing, Fly Emirates--->Aeroflot

So was I right in my interpretation or not? This is very contradictory. PS, sorry for hijacking your thread

So, we should find out today if Crespo is staying at Inter or coming to the bridge. Furthermore, Juventus are planning on reopening talks with Chelsea over Davids, as they are now very keen to sell him, rather then risk losing him for nothing next year. It's going to be close though, as the transfer window shuts on Sept 1st.

I hope we get Crespo now - I've been playing as Argentina and he is the mutts nuts. I'd don't know about Davids, didn't he say he turned us down in June? Not sure I'd want him there if that's the case.

Moratti (Chairman?) has said it's all done and dusted - apparently Crespo told him he ws going to London, like it or lump it.

Some other guy for Inter is saying 'hang on - not done yet' but it looks like it's going ahead.

I just hope he is good!

This is what the official Inter site says:

MASSIMO MORATTI SPIEGA IL PERCHÉ DELLA TRATTATIVA PER LA CESSIONE DI CRESPO
Venerdi, 22 Agosto 2003 15:31:06
Moratti risponde sinteticamente: "In attacco siamo molto forti. È l'unico reparto in cui non siamo danneggiati. Questa scelta ha riguardato un giocatore che, tra l'altro, aveva un'esigenza: la sicurezza del posto fisso. E, visto i giocatori che l'Inter ha a disposizione in quel reparto, non si potevano certo danneggiare altri calciatori. Titolari fissi? Solo Vieri lo è".
Insiste, allusivo, Massimo Moratti: "Guardiamoci in giro. Io ho preferito una scelta di questo tipo, anzichè ricorrere ad altre soluzioni". Che cosa farà adesso l'Inter sul mercato: "Non ho ancora parlato con le persone che si occupano della campagna acquisti e cessioni". A chi gli ha chiesto se nelle scelte di Crespo c'entrasse in qualche modo l'allenatore Hector Cuper, il presidente nerazzurro ha risposto con schiettezza: "No, non c'entra niente in questa vicenda".

Errr.......so what does it say? :(

Roughly translated, it says:

MASSIMO MORATTI EXPLAINS CRESPO TRANSFER NEGOTIATIONS

MILAN - Inter president Massimo Moratti explained the situation which is leading to the transfer of Hernan Crespo to Chelsea. "We have six strikers and one full-back, so perhaps we need to buy for positions where we're weak," he said.
But why sell Crespo ? Moratti: "We're very strong in attack. It's the only department in which we're not damaged. This choice regards a player that, among other things, had a demand: the guarantee of a first-team place. And when you see the players that Inter have in that department you certainly couldn't harm other footballers. Fixed regulars? Only Vieri is."
Moratti continued, "I preferred a choice of this kind rather than resort to other solutions." And the transfer market? "I still haven't spoken to the people who are in charge of the buying and selling of players." When asked whether Hector Cuper had anything to do with Crespo 's choice, the Nerazzurri president replied candidly, "No, he has nothing to do with this matter."
