Well, they'd let him go if they could. Should have signed a shorter contract, but i can't see why he isn't requesting a transfer to get 1st team football. It's extraordinary. Perhaps he's just sitting pretty and not bothered.

I also heard something like that Vann. Don't know about the flights, but he gets a massive amount of money for training, and that's training only!!
€ 57.000 a week! That's sick.

I hope Zenden signs for Ajax, we need some experience.

He should sign for Ajax, he's a good footballer but he's never struck me as the model proffesional and always seems abit arrogant and with Ajax having the dream team for coaches...

Koeman, Krol and God a.k.a known as Van Basten    they would really sort him out....

Can you imagine them being your coaches??

Koeman "what do you mean you cant hit a 60yard crossfield pass at 80mph and land it on any blade of grass I ask for"

Van Basten "thats not a volley, let me show you what a volley is"

fookin nightmare :D

haha, I think van Basten only trains strikers and the first youth squad together with Danny Blind (not sure about that). They (Koeman + van Basten) were great.......... the memories.

Well, well, well. I step out for a few days and this thread descends into chaos.

Prof, I think the last few days have been just what the doctor ordered after a month of paper talk. I still don't think we are quite there, but we will be more than enough for most teams. I went through about 30 ciggies watching the Zilina game - so fecking nervous, just waiting for the cock up. The home leg should be straight forward (I hope!)

As for the scousers - we can lay the ghosts of Dennis Wise and Vinnie Jones to rest now.

Welcome back Terry :) Had fun in Ireland? Yes, we finally beat the Pool at Anfield. Watched it down the pub, it was quite a match. Good 'ol JFH coming good and delivering justice in the 87th minute. As for Zilina, i'm pretty confident we shouldn't encounter any problems. I reckon Petit will be on and we'll hold possession for most of the time, and hopefully net a couple as well. I think the Smertin thing is still on, although it seems quiet, as i suppose he's not high profile, so the press don't big it up like the other signings, but i reckon he'll come. Still don't know what Mutu's damn squad number is :x . The Chelsea site doesn't seem to be displaying player profiles, at least it wasn't.

I had it in my head that he will be No.7 but I don't know where I got that from.

Ireland was great (family wedding) but feel like a dried up doggy doodoo now. Quiet on the Chelsea front today, isn't it. Not sure about this Smertin guy, I think he might be a Dieter Eiltz type player - employed mostly for Europe.

Hernan Crespo is the latest rumour. Is he any good? I've watched a lot of football in my time, and don't remember ever seeing him play......

He's definitly what i'd class as a good player, when he's in his element. He was good at both Parma and Lazio, on the ground and in the air. It remains to be seen whether he'd cut it in the premiership though. I still prefer Mutu to him.

He's not bad. I think he has scored a few goals in his time, but don't quote me on that.

You being sarky T, Crespo is sh*t hot, with Veron supplying the ammo he's be the one signing that makes me think Chel$ki could win it this year.

I still don't see why they need to get rid of JFH. He came on and scored on saturday and maybe the introduction of the Russian revolution may be the spark he needs to work harder and maybe accomplish his goals at Chelsea.

The one they should flog is Forsell - he will never make it at Chelsea and they should have taken the £ from Borussia Dortmund when they got the chance.

Forsell looked okay at Palace, but IMO he's out his depth at Chel$ki compared to the likes C.Cole, Duff, Mutu and JFH anyway,

but you cant sell Jimmy cos,

well he's Jimmy :)

I've heard 'of' Crespo, but never seen him doing it. I think we probably do need a more reliable striker, both Jimmy and Eidur have too many off days - Mutu isn't an out and out striker, Forssell isn't a complete striker, and maybe we should now give him his chance somewhere else. The chosen one is Carlton Cole, but he still needs a year to iron out the creases.

And Gudjohnson needs to work on his finishing.....not cool enough for an Icelander.

His goal at OT last season was ice cool, but I know what you mean, he was on fire the other season him and Jimmy upfront, did he have an injury or something???

Ehem, yeah. That'd be something.

Concerning Crespo, I rate him as one of the 15 best strikers in the world, so he would be an awsome signing. His finishing skills are incredible - a true goal getter. Last year, his team (is it Inter? I forget) played Rosenborg in Norway. They had two chances, both for Crespo and he nailed them both. So, he's the kind of player that'd be useful on a bad day - he could still win the game for us.

Does it not bother you that players are only coming cos of the money not because they want to wear The Shirt.

As opposed to another of your signings who is Manchester fru 'n' fru, eh?

HOU LET THIS RON GET AWAY

Exclusive by David Maddock

NEW Manchester United sensation Cristiano Ronaldo has a guilty secret - he wanted to sign for Liverpool.

The brilliant teenager has become an instant sensation at Old Trafford after a stunning debut on the opening day of the Premiership.

But the Daily Mirror can reveal that Ronaldo actually harboured ambitions that will turn the stomach of every United fan - he was keen to land a "dream" move to their bitterest rivals.

The Portuguese Under-21 international was targeted by Liverpool over the summer, and was closely watched by Anfield No.2 Phil Thompson during the Toulon Tournament in June.

When he heard the news that Liverpool were interested, Ronaldo could hardly contain himself and went public with his desire to join the English club from Sporting Lisbon.

The winger begged Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier to follow up his interest, and back in June - long before United declared their hand - he admitted that he would love to form a partnership with Michael Owen. He said: "It would be a dream for any player to represent a club of such traditions as Liverpool.

"I will have to hope that they make an offer that is good for both Sporting and myself. Let's see how things turn out."

Now Liverpool's loss is United's gain.

The Merseyside club did not follow up their interest after Thompson submitted his scouting report and instead United boss Sir Alex Ferguson splashed out a world record £12million fee for the teenager.

I see Chelsea are interested in Mexican defender Gerardo Torrado from Seville.

I like this lad! He's a defensive midfielder - very good, very powerful.

He also get's stuck in, does he?

I seen him a couple of times for Seville last season and he was impressive as was Reyes.

Chelsea are also tyring to sign the Honey Monster after seeing footage of his acrobatic saves at Wembley on the recent Sugar Puff's commercial.

Not sure if Roman's cheque book will be able to prize him away though!!

Well it aint Smertin, think he's goin to Pompey now.....

Why isnt Lampard or Petit seen as the holding midfielder??

Petit is excellent in this role, you dont have to be young to play that pos, experience counts for more cos you have to read the game so well, he is first class at passing the ball, non of your Veron/Beckham 60yrd cross field passes just neat little passes that keep the game going, and he's got a bit of steel to his game aswell..

Then surely Lampard would be his understudy, he too is a good passing player and has improved greatly since he joined Chelsea.

I know its good to have money pumped into the club but surely not to the detriment of the current players....

Just a thought.........

Petit is a holding midfielder, but he's the only one imo. Lampard comes forward too much and doesn't tackle hard/well enough to control that zone.

Only one world cup/european champ winner for a holding midfielder

You poor sods  :)

In Lampards defence he is young, you have to be disciplined to play that role, Keano used to bomb forward all the time exposing the back four, Petit played exactly the same when he was younger....
