I didnt manage to catch the game.
Sulph, how did diarra play? I really don't know anything about this young player, but any info would be appreciated!
Apparantly he replaced makelele, so maybe jose has found an unknown jem!

I didnt watch the game either, just the highlights..

Diarra did well when he got on, made some good interceptions and tackles. He's a good player though, saw him last season at Le Havre and this years' Toulon tournament a couple of times where he dominated the midfield just like Maka does. He's only 20 and about the same height as Maka, looks a little like him too :)

how did swp play Sky said he had a good debut! and htat you were all over Milan!

Yeah, very good debut, even if it was in a friendly. First thing he did was to have his own little show with Kaladze a couple of times, eventually just running easily past him lol. He did have two good shots, both saved by Ele though.

You should've seen SWP somewhere around the 70th minute, he was like 5m behind Nesta who were jogging and SWP at stand-still when someone in Chelsea just hoofed the ball up. SWP caught Nesta up on a 20-25m rush and almost got first to the ball but luckily for us Ele got there first :)

Anyway, he played a good game after coming on, I wish Liverpool would've bought him :(:(:(

Thanks zlatan,
im wonderin though whether diarra is going to be used as a 1st team squad player, or end up being loaned out like smertin?

Even though they had 11 corners, great defending too.
SWP had one of those Ronaldo7 debuts, tricks and a lot of pace.

Hi mates i watched too, Chelsea really looks strong,SWP and C.Cole are particularly impressed me most,i think another great season is ahead of us .sorry to asking this guys, today i read from the net as Peter kenyon said Arsenal and MU have been two kids on the block for 12 years, can someone tell me what does it means?

I wonder whose faster and has more acceleration, swp or robben, both were amazing against Milan, they had some pretty neat pacey dribbles. SWP missed a wide open net at one point, was a bit difficult angle too.
drogba missed like two headers =P its all good,

Chelsea played with alot of chemistry, look better than last year with their new kits, you can feel they going to have a gigantic season.

everyone played good i think, DC Utd will get screwed pretty good on Thursday, hopefully like 5-0 or something. =P

Trommyda

the two kids on the block comment from Kenyon means that Arsenal and Manchester United have been fighting for the title between only them two for several years now and it has been a 2 horse race. Kenyon is saying that they are only be hyprocritical of chelsea becuase they are worried of another club outdoing them.

Is that what they call them now? Ronaldo7 debuts?

You should never ask for or a predict a thrashing. It hardly ever happens when people think its gonna happen.

Yeah, first Duff, SWP then Robben!
I never really thought of SWP as being a really fast player but rather a more skillful player.
Duff is the better of the three IMO, he's more direct but Robben stole his spotlight by showing off his dribbling skills.

Okay lol, FYI, SWP is the fastest one of them lot. :) I also think Duff is the better of them three with SWP a close close 2nd.

Probably cuz SWP is the smallest of the three meaning he can get around quicker.

José introduces Diarra
Thursday, Jul 28, 2005

José Mourinho is going to give 20 year old Lassana Diarra at least 45 minutes at DC Washington tonight on Chelsea’s second pre-season friendly of the USA tour.

Paris born Diarra joined two weeks ago following a week on trial. “Gwyn Williams saw him playing in the Toulon tournament and said we must try him, so we spoke to Le Havre and they let him come for a week and he could be a solution in the future when Maka is coming to the end,” said the manager.

“He has an open mind, he is willing to learn, he is willing to work.”

The defensive midfielder spent time as a schoolboy with Nantes and Le Mans before joining Le Havre where he was Young Player of the Year in 2004. Last season he was in the first team which finished 16th in the Second Division, and played every game of the Toulon Under 20s Tournament including the Final when France beat Portugal 4-1.

Lassana, who speaks no English yet, said through the translator: “I want to work, to improve. Maka is a great player who I am already learning a lot from him.”

Too early to say, but looking quite good for the lad!

Lyon want £32M PLUS a player for Essien!!                           :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: These guys should do stand-up

What do you expect, Chelsea pay ridiculous amounts for players, so obviously your going to get clubs who want a fortune for their players, I would do the same.

I think nobody is worth that amount of money. I know Lyon are just doing this to dissuade Chelsea, but at the same time they're testing them, because they would never EVER get that amount of money for any Lyon player, let alone for Essien ever again.
