Apparently is a £21million deal. I cant believe Man City gave up so easily. They need money to pay their debt so they should have asked for more.

I wonder how SWP would fit into the team.
can anyone beleive they paid that much?!?!??! i think he is good but 21 million!!!

Si it seems
Just a test game though...key players missing on both sides

English players prices are vastly overinflated, but I think they could have got 23. Slightly disappointed in terms of loyalty etc, but it's the done thing these days.

I was kinda hoping he went to Arsenal. They need him more and it would be so fitting since his father was a Arsenal legend.

Chelsea didnt look so impressive in the game. Robben was good at times but the rest of the match was boring. Not a good way to kick start preseason, is it?

What are your next few fixtures?

Shaun is ian's adopted son, not his real father.

Milan twice and an MLS team. Too bad Sheva wont play :(

It was not our first pre season rune, our first was against wycombe which we won 5-1.

Duff
Cole
Robben
Jarosik
Jarosik

WTF has that got to do with anything? It doesnt matter who your birth father is, what matters is who brought you up. No one is born a Chelsea or an Arsenal fan. Thats just dumb.

Jarosik scored TWICE!?!?!?
Anyway, my point was that (Now I dont whether you took the game seriously or not but) Chelsea should have won convincingly against Benfica. But they won because of an own goal.

Hopefully in the Milan games they will go out and try to win the game at any cost.

Yep, one was a nice half volley too :p He didnt look very happy once he scored htem though.

Hopefully yes.

So you got SWP eh. Bloody good signing even if you did pay about £9 million too much but you can afford it.

Just hope it gets in your team on a regular basis and he wont end up being wasted.

Fuck off rune, i was just passing a comment, and i never said he was born a fan of either team.

And ian has only been his adopted father for about the last 7/8 years, so he didnt in theory 'bring him up', not that matters either,
but i was just passing comment that he n ian wright are not blood relatives, i make one comment n u fly off like i've just insulted your family! chill out u sad bastard!

Absolutely it was too much. However, i think JM will take a shine to SWP, and i can see him getting in the 1st XI at some point. I also can't wait to see how SWP turns out through JM's coaching. He did wonders for Joe Cole.
Anyway, SWP, an exciting attacking prospect. I await it with much anticipation.

Own goal and we picked it up 1-0

greyish performance by both sides but I guess Chelsea had more responsability, the team is more or less the same, they are more powerful and they faced a weaker benfica who is also adapting to a new coach so... I expected a bit more from chelsea although around here one knows that benfica usually delivers good perfomance in their "presentation" games, which didn't happen.

Nevertheless it's the second game for chelsea so there is some excuse.

And you're telling me to chill out?
All I'm saying is that your comment was totally irrelevant.
This is the internet. If you get offended so easily by something like "WTF" then this isnt the place for you.

I get a feeling that he'll become a striker at Chelsea. Which IMO is a good thing him and his new club.
Theres no other way he's gonna get into the England squad as a right sided midfielder. And lets face it, he plays shit for England anyway.

I can picture him as a striker very easily.

sorry rune, i guess the internet is not the place for me!
Thats it, im now unplugging my computer and im gonna smash up my modem!

it was a comment, jus thought some people might not know that, so i passed a comment, i think i put it differently to what i meant to, but never the less, what says you can u say what is a relevant comment and what isnt?

anyway, i think SWP will be an awesome signing, JM always said he wants two players for each position, and now he has that on the wings!
And also i think that SWP will improve alot more than he would have done under stuart pearce - no offence psycho!

Well first of all, you quoted me before "passing" your comment so it was definately directed at me as if you're trying to tell me something I dont know. And how can you not think its irrelevant? Explain to me how whether or not he was adobted have an affect on this discussion?

And it doesnt help anyone when posting comments like this:

:applause: Well Done for making yourself look like a 13 year old.

the game was really boring...and the result wasn't that fair, but it was clearly a game for mourinho to test some unused players...Mourinho, this year will give no mercy..chelsea this year will win everything.Last season was just an warm up for Mourinho.

I think Chelsea are exceptionally strong, but I'm still not too sure on them up front, Gudjohnsen's a fantastic link-up player, he's the Chelsea answer to Bergkamp for Arsenal, but he isn't a 20/25 Goal a season man. Drogba's powerful, quick and got a good leap, and whilst he helps the team alot in the Mourinho 4-5-1, he doesn't look comfortable. Crespo's a proven goalscorer in Serie A, but it all hinges on whether he settles well in London.Furthermore I also think that if Crespo is to play well, Mourinho might have to modify his formation, because Crespo's stint at AC showed that he thrives with a good partner, like Shevchenko to play at his best.

Bergkamp?!what kind of a threat is that? Chelsea is good as a team, not for 1 ou 2 players. Mourinho might have the shittiest team of the world...he always manage to win his games...his methods are unique, and that i can't see anyone beating him and chelsea.

It was meant as a joke, trying to lighten up the situation, y'know, not being petty and continuing the arguement...you seem to like arguements, so i wasn't going to give you the satisfaction.

So maybe my comment was taken in the wrong context, reading back i can see how it was...but still, i was only sayin it in case some people on this forum didn't no, it is in fact a quite interesting piece of info about SWP because you dont often get adopted sons or daughters of former quality players, so i thought some people might want to know that? sorry for my 2 cents!

No problem then.

A problem Chelsea has is that they're almost buying all these young players as if they're just being bought so that other teams cant have them.
When you look at a squad as big as Chelsea's, you're supposed to have an experienced player and a young player for each position. For example Man Utd have Giggs on the left wing and now have Ji-Sung Park as the young alternative who is gonna be brought up to be the new Giggs. And since Keane is old, we're now looking for someone who is young and can potentially replace him in the future.

Chelsea now have 3 great young wingers and unless one of them plays in another position, someone is gonna be on the bench. And this then means its gonna hurt the development of one of those players. Sadly, it looks like it'll be Duff.

Chelsea lack experience right now.
