congrats imagine the damage that would have been done with ur first team and keeper

Erm, you mean with Terry in? Its not like Cudicini had much to do, plus Drogba being out was probably a benefit. I don't really think Chelsea were much of their first team, Cole, Lampard, Gudjohnsen, Tiago, Makele, Geremi etc...

I doubt any other team would have done better, a good win nonetheless (though sould really have been 2-1 given Cole's rather offisde position, but what can you do)

I know Ruud and Tiago scored but then I fell asleep. I just knew we wouldnt win. Luckly I missed the rest cuz I just would have been embaressed.

Great game. 2-1 is more fair. J. Cole's goal is off-site, but that doesnt really matter, we've win in a great game.

That seemed a little too easy there. United seemed to run out of ideas against 4-5-1 (park the bus, Mourinho?) and Chelski's counter-attack was lethal. Got to admit, I was surprised by Tiago's goal....almost as surprised as I was when Sol Campbell scored against Portsmouth this season from 30 yards.:D

Lyon have apparently said they wont accept a swap deal for Essien so I think he's staying where he is.

Seems that mourinho was right!
After the millions spent last year on buying a new team, this year it seems only 3 will join the club. Striker, left back and a midfielder!

Wish i was there csaunders!

Anyway, isnt Essien more of an attacking centre midfielder.

Where would that fit in?

Lampard has the stamina and natural fitness to play every game and so there is no need for someone unless they are just used in a squad rotation or just used as a backup, such as scotty parker.

Essien would not come in for Makelele.

I also think that in 1 seasons time, Makelele will have to be replaced.
Gerrard would have been perfect if Liverpool didnt win the Champions League.

You're right that Essien seems a bit like an attacking centre midfielder but I hear he can hold the midfield like how Makelele or Keane can.

Essien is more of a vieira type player, he is a holding defensive type, but also likes to attack. Thats exactly what we need, because i dont think that there is anyone in the chelsea team who fills that void perfectly. We have two of the best midfielders in their position in makelele n lampard, and essien would be the perfect player to slot in with them. Any more news about apparant interest in SWP?

SWP probably wont happen. Rumours like these appear all the time. Just today I read Chelsea are making a bid for Henry.

If Essien does come in i guess he would fill the first 3 of the 443.

Lampard Essien
Makelele

Henry? Im f***ing fed up of the tabloids trying to fill their empty back pages with 'source's' rumours about chelsea are going to bid for the biggest players in the world, just because we have the money to do so. There is actually no evidence whatsoever of any conversation between the player, or the clubs, its jus, a source close to henry says....blah blah blah lie lie lie' its f***ing infant.
I read in the daily sport that chelsea are preparing a bid for bobby moore, 'a source close to bobby says, "bobby could be tempted back into football with a big money move from chelsea". oh wait, hes dead.

So if you guys get Essien, that only leaves a striker that you need to buy.
Other than Adriano, who else has been linked?
