Re: Chelsea FC thread

Whatever the scoreline is,i bet its gonna be one hellof a game even though this is for the League cup. Both teams will field their near-strongest side I assume but its unlikely for United as they have one eye lookin at Liverpool this weekend.

i think it will be a scoreless draw and bore the hell out of all of us.
I wouldn't mind if that happened. Then we could just rip them apart at home in the second leg with our first team.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Looks like we're on the verge of signing Leeds keeper Scott Carson. Lenny Pidgeley looks to be out then, and what about Carlo? I expect he'll start tonight again Man U, but with the lack of other first team opportunities will he be leaving?

Re: Chelsea FC thread

What a half. A lot of action, no goals though. Man u had 2 penalty claims, both denied, rightly so. Gudjohnsen tapped one in however he was offside. They seem to be closing down Frank Lampard really well. Everytime hes about to take a shot 3 Man United defenders rush in and block. Bit dissappointed by Wayne Bridge, his confidence seems to be low. A few bad touches and bad control plus he was put under tremendous pressure from Ronaldo in his own half. Best chance of the half so far would probably be Lampards glancing header from Ferriera's cross. Hopefully we will see more of the same in the second half because we are playing slightly better than them. A brilliant save from Carlo Cudicini to deny Rooney, that was brilliant.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

It seems Jarosik is not bad at this moment. He has made two good pass after he came into the pitch and one shoot nearly to score. A bit impressed me.

But for what make me a bit worry is, our forwarder (Drogba and Gudjohnson) are still is not in form, and Kezman might be still hasnt get used the english style, I can see he's struggle to every games, that's good for him. And like what Jose said, we deserve to win last night.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

how did you deserver to win? The best chance of the night was rooney, on that fine save by cudicini, jose is just an arrogant guy.... he would say that if you lost 4-0

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Respect for JM for last nights comments. He said what every other non-Man Utd fan has been thinking for years. Hard for the FA to press charges when it's true....

2 cleared off the line and Rooneys wasnt even going in

Re: Chelsea FC thread

I'm curious, with all this stuff going on about what Morinho said about the second half, dive after dive, fault after fault etc... I watched the game, and though I am a United fan, did you Chelsea fans really think there were that many bad calls going United's way? I mean, Chelsea actually had more free kicks in the second half than United did, plus I can't remember any dangerous positions given to United. I just can't work out what he's talking about, so thought maybe my bias just led me to miss em.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Having considered Mourinho's comments, which statistics do not back up, Ferguson has come to the conclusion that the main reason behind them was to try and exert his own influence on Graham Poll who takes charge of Saturday's encounter between Chelsea and Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

But the Scot was annoyed enough to recall Porto's diving antics during last season's Champions League clash with United when the Portugal side were still under Mourinho's control.

Ferguson then set his sights on Terry's claim that Barry refused to listen to him during then game.

"I think Mourinho has opened a can of worms for himself," said Ferguson. "We remember what happened in Porto.

"Look back a couple of weeks to the penalty decision that went their way against Liverpool and how Rafael Benitez handled that.

"But I don't think his comments have anything to do with what happened on Wednesday. It was more about trying to influence the referee for tomorrow's game against Tottenham.

"What I find more interesting are John Terry's comments when he says the referee wouldn't listen to him.

"I ask the question 'why would he listen to him?'. Is he saying he can influence other referees? I have never heard a captain come out with comments like that before."

I didn't watch the game or hear Terry's comments but Fergie could be making a rare good point here?

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Dudek had a stinker, didn't he...

Closer to home though, 2-0! I was expecting a draw. Arsenal lost too. Bonus. 10 points clear. Is this finally our season? Time will tell.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

hahahhaha. Mourinho has ruled out sales to english clubs/rivals. Anyway, great performance, we relieved the pressure with that lampard goal. Great play from Gudjohnsen. Anyway i also just watched the Arsenal game. ITS OVERR THE TITLES COMING HOME BITCHES.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Can anyone confirm this rumour.
Yves Makalamby, Chelsea 4th keeper would go on loan to Anderlecht till the end of the season (Anderlecht have a GK problem this season and if they would loan him, he would certainly play, which would be a good thing for him and Chelsea. Furthermore he seems to be a big friend of Kompany).

Re: Chelsea FC thread

CSKA Moscow are understood to have made an approach for Chelsea's Mateja Kezman.

The Russian outfit hope their close relationship with Blues owner Roman Abramovich - who sponsors CSKA - could smooth over a deal.

CSKA want Kezman on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent switch.

The deal seems highly unlikely with Chelsea insisting they do not want to lose any of their squad, although there is the option of a player coming in the opposite direction which could make a deal feasible.

Jiri Jarosik has already moved to Stamford Bridge during the transfer window from CSKA, but one of his former team-mate's could yet follow.

Vagner Love could be the man to secure Kezman's passage to Russia.

The Brazilian walked out on CSKA earlier this month after signing a deal with Media Sports Investments (MSI) - who own Brazilian outfit Corinthians and a host of other players from around the world.

Abramovich is constantly linked with MSI and some claim that he has a stake - but no matter, he has a close relationship with those involved which could mean a deal on Love being done.

Love does not want to return to Russia because of the Moscow weather and he wanted a move to Corinthians - but a possible transfer to Chelsea could appeal.

Chelsea's boss Jose Mourinho does not want to reduce his squad size any further - but he could very well listen to a swap deal for Kezman - who has failed to make the expected impact in England since his summer move from PSV Eindhoven.

He'd have to change his streaked hair from red to blue though.

Re: Chelsea FC thread

What do you lot make of the kit change rumours..I heard that Roman paid Umbro a huge sum of money just to end at tthe contract this season,5 seasons earlier than firstly agreed.I also heard that Nike will be in the running but now it seems Adidas will be Chelsea's kit makers for next season.Shirt sponsors Fly Emirates will also end their contract at the end of this season with Orange, rumoured to be the new sponsors? Truth,half-truth or bullocks?

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Chelsea reportedly paid Umbro £24m to end the deal. Football is going mental IMO, it'll be funny when Roman gets bored of his Chelsea toy and leaves them in the shit.

or when he gets thrown in jail, you wonder why he never goes back to russia....

Re: Chelsea FC thread

Seems like a lot of cash, eh. I was under the impression we were to let the Umbro deal expire. This is all to do with Kenyon and Chelsea wanting to market the club as a global brand. Saunders, as a person who associates himself with Man Utd from his DC abode, you should be familiar with the concept. I personally don't care about Chelsea as a brand, i just want to see the club do well on the pitch and challenge for honours. The brand thing just entices a new genration of glory seekers from overseas, or anywhere nowhere near Chelsea, or even London, to start supporting them. I mean just look at the amount of Real Madrid and Man Utd supporters around the world. What connection do they possibly have with the clubs?I remember at school in the early 80s, all the kids supported Liverpool because of their success, and that was in London! In the 90s you started to see people pledging their support to Man Utd, as they began to dominate that decade. In more recent years loads of people (in London at least) seem to be supporting Arsenal. If Chelsea become successful, and sustain it over a long period of time, sadly this will happen too :(
People seem to think that when Roman leaves, in 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, that the club will be up the creek without a paddle. The truth is it's not likely to happen, now that our outstanding debts were cancelled. Even if the club didn't become globally recognised and begin to bring in more revenue from around the world as a direct consequence, the fact remains that we wouldn't have the debt that we once had, hanging over our head. Yes, we wouldn't be able to sustain paying the high wages if Roman left: a) we then begin to go into debt again (way below most other clubs. b) we sell the players on, and recoup.
