I know Humberto Coelho personally, he is a friend of my father and visits us from now and then, and i can say that he may seem friendly but in fact he is a disciplined coach and doesn't allow any mistakes in terms of behavior about everything.
So if he is chosen to be the Benficas new coach a lot of things will change, one of them being Luis Filipe Vieira not having anything to do with the transfers and management of the team itself.
He was one of the choices after Trapattoni, but Vieira started saying shit like "Im the president i say who enters the team and who doesn't", he then replied "lol, no" in his face, after that you now what shitty crap happened...

Porto won the cl 4 years ago, amazing but wait...
it didn't scare schalke last month.

past is really nice, but usually useless in the present.
all that really matters.

Try being one of the best in Europe with Presidents saying what all members want to hear and then, when they are presidents just steal properties and money from the club or steal from players transfers or selling properties for double the price and getting 3/4 of the payment.
If you can make a club survive such things, Why the fuck r you reading this? Go to the presidential offices of benfica and fire the president and claim the job yours, cous we need you. =/

I think Neoexodus is right. The coach should decided who enters and who goes out in the team and not the president. Remember Mourinho words when someone asked him about Abramovich's opinions in football area: "If he helped me out in training we would be bottom of the league and if I had to work in his world of big business, we would be bankrupt." The president should stay far from coach decisions.
Just one president can build is own team. His name is Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa.

Who get's to choose the president?
Surely not Porto or Sporting fans?

It's surely not my fault that (not yours either for that matter) that to become President of Benfica you only need to say stuff like "We will win the CL in 3 years" "Porto is the enemy" "Pinto da Costa is the cancer of Football" and "oHH let's remember the glory days". Only need to attack Porto to become president, nothing more.

And how the hell someone (Vieira and Veiga) so closely connected with Porto ends up at running Benfica? Fans again. Only they can let it happen.

Porto thankfully has the best President ever on portuguese football, a man that knows the game. And if we loose him, there are few outhere capable of filling in the shoes, not as good but competent, like Rui Moreira, Fernando Gomes, just to name two, and surely one day, not yet, Vitor Baia (smart man this one).

Oh well. We all have our views. peace.

Comparing the history between Benfica and Porto is the same thing comparing the racing history between Alfa Romeo and Honda.

e.g.
Benfica = Alfa Romeo = Classic, Historic
Porto = Honda = New Gen, Revolutionary

Hmm, i think you can say Bad Organization and poor negotiation vision...
A bad squad, bad coach, bad economy, bad transfers (out and in) bad president, bad president choices, hmm one more, The Emblem being too big for all the team to wear it, only a few of them should be wearing it. There were a few more but i think these r enough.

Not even slightly funny, i think every1 wants a competitive league not the actual league with the winner known 5/6 rounds before ending, which is pretty lame in my oppinion..

btw one thing that really bothers me is the proteccionism there is towards Paulo Bento. The squad is no excuse. They are tied with Guimarães that have a much lower budget, but yet people don't blame him for the fuckups of the season.

The_Special_One: Unfortunately we r competitive in that way, and thats not even Pro competitive, its like a medium-High competition, if even SLB and SCP have difficulties with low teams from other leagues, then we may not even be High at all..
Revan: IMO, normally the fault for sporting losing is that the team thinks they r good enough, and that they will end up resolving the problems, like they see on SportTV in ManU or Chelsea or Bayern, but they can't, obviously. Bento normally makes good subs, but the team itself is the one that fucks it all up, so thats the reason that i think its right, for Sporting not booing Bento.

I wonder one thing. I keep seeing money being spent, but no return. Sven is not cheap, Camacho is cheap compared to Sven. This atitude of spending like crazy usually ends up bad.
Let's see at the end of next year how things will be.
We all know that results can disguise anything, but If Benfica have a bad season again, I'm betting alot of holes will be found on Benfica's finances.
