Arsenal Thread

It would. we wont be winning nothing next year. losing two of our world class players is not good. its a step backwards. even if we replace fabregas and nasri with equal talent. its not progression because the replacements would need time to gel in the team and also we actually have to add to what we have in our team now . fair enough if we replaced nasri and fabregas with players much better then them, that would be progress but the chances of finding someone better then fabregas and nasri for pennies is rare.

If we get players early enough in the summer then I think it could be ok. If everything happens near the end of the summer, then we could be in trouble.

There is no way Arsene would sell those two and look for a player that cost peanuts. The Fans, Board will demand money spent on quality to replace those two. Wenger himself isn't stupid enough to lose those two and not replace them.

I for one am mixed about Fab. Unbelievable player and so valuable to us. But having this hanging over the team, whether he is going to be here the next season etc I think has an effect on out mindset as a team. So if we get decent money for him, then it might be a good thing?

Why would Arsenal end with Fab and Nasri leaving?.. So melodramatic you guys... I will just say this: Zidane (Juventus) > 75M > Real Madrid. I rest my case.

This team need to go back to a 4-4-2 whats the point of having a sitter when we control the ball anyway and we conceede from set pieces anyways...

Van persie is not a lone striker...he the type of player that need a CF ahead of him.

I dont think our situation is dramatic, we just need good depth in the team. I can see a bright future with wilshere and ramsey.

Clinchy must leave this summer, he's been aweful, I think fab should leave too, he didnt give he's all this year, we dont need a player that dream of another club at night.

We need to work on getthing a talented winger that is strong fast and tall.

get rid of bendtner, denilson, diaby, eboue and bring replacement.

i think fans should lay off fabregas. if where not careful, the fans will drive fabregas away from arsenal!

i got a feeling his gunna stay for good!

I don't see the fuss in keeping Fab tbh. Nasri excelled in a central role earlier in the season plus you could move Wilshere further up the pitch when Ramsey is fully fit.

I'd cash in and bring some steel into the squad.

Psychologically though losing your star player is a blow especially to Arsenal who are a brittle lot and its rumoured Nasri wants out also. Ramsay, Wilshire are both the future but definitely to soon for them to be leading the way for Arsenal

Does seem like a massive list of potential exits

Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, Denilson, Bendtner, Arshavin all rumoured to potentially leave.

I dunno, it's not like they completely collapsed after Vieira and Henry left. In fact they reached the CL final after Vieira joined Juve and challenged for the title the season after Henry left.

As we've shown over the years with the departures of RvN and Ronaldo, it can get other players to step up to the plate.

Clichy's a liability these days. With Real buying Coentrão, Arsene should put in a decent bid for Marcelo and try and tempt him to the Emirates.

Even if all the rumours about players leaving are true (and i doubt it, i see both Fabregas and Nasri stay...), Arsenal does not need much to be big contenders...in fact they nearly were this season.

Most people in here act as if Arsenal had a catastrophical season...they did not...expectations were sky high when it seemed they could go for the treble...

Well that's the problem. It's all good and well being in contention for silverware but when you fall apart at crunch time (losing to a side that got relegated in a cup final is almost inexcusable) year in, year out, there's nothing wrong with questioning the team's failings.

Wenger should've really stamped this fallibility out of his side when they scraped past Aston Villa for 4th place in '09, if not earlier. Fans questioning the manager's approach after six years without silverware, with the team making the same mistakes season after season is perfectly understandable, especially for a club of Arsenal's size.

Clichy I would be glad to leave if we got good money for him, the same with the others. Nasri and Fab I would like to stay, but I don't think it would be that devestating if they did leave, as long as we spent the money on quality replacements.

It is very exciting a big chunk of our squad could be changed by the time the new season starts, it's exactly what it needs a big shake up, new competition and a big kick up the arse!

What people dont seem to understand is that psychologicly its olmost impossible for arsenal to win a title with the group of player right now. CHANGE is needed and unlike the others club in the world, when a team need change, they sack the manager but Arsene is not a coach that you can Sack. A change is needed and its the player that need to switch IMO. SO i dont care if we loose nasri or fab. If we get decent money Im pretty sure that whatever wenger does, he will have a team capable of finishing fourth, thats the very least =p

We need big changes , Wenger needs to change too and have a win at all cost attitude. This current crop just looks clueless, while Fab is off with his abuelito !

On the Guardian's website i read that Arsène is after Karim Benzema and will improve Nasri's contract...
Arshavin, Denilson, Diaby, Clichy, Vela and Bendtner are on the way out.
Inter are after Song.

All rumours of course, but there might one or two correct...

Benzema in would be a good signing dependant on Arsenal changing their philosophy, Wenger needs to give up on making Arsenal Barcelona MK2 and focus on being Arsenal which means they don't HAVE to always make needless passes and plays to score and be a bit more direct like the invincible side.

did you hear the answer to the question: are you planning to change your philos...No! ?
but that is a good idea and would provide more danger from us, but the center midfielders would have to work more. that's cesc too. and the system was built around him. plus the wingers don't really bother anyway.
Wenger needs to make the team press and work more.

I don't think we need to change our philosophy completely. We have plenty of chances per game, we just need to finish them and stop making mistakes at the back and defend like a team.

We don't need to ditch the whole way we play, we just need better players to play the way we want to play and be effective.

Couldn't agree more.

PS; it's frightening how much we agree lately, isn't it Bobby aren't we supposed to have other opinions all the time?

One answer: come on Spurs!!! Can't we swap managers? Wenger to Spurs and Arry to Arsenal?
