I think the problem is how stagnant Arsenal have become and that's probably the most frustrating thing about being an Arsenal fan. They're not going backwards as a club but they're not making much progress either, which calls into question Wenger's policy of relying almost solely on young players, the point of which is that the team as a whole is supposed to improve in correlation with the development of these young players.
Some Arsenal fans have forgotten that Wenger and the board took the decision to bild a new stadium. By taking that decision they have been thinking long term and not short term. Short term would have been staying at Highbury and buying more expensive players...in the long term that would not be a good strategy.
If Arsenal finish fourth, that would be logic, since at least 5 clubs have spend more on players: Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Spurs...Arsenal are clearly punching above their weight since being at the Emirates...but the expectations of the fans were higher.
I must say that i understand the fans' deception: each year it seems Arsenal will be contenders and then they throw it all away stupidly, not because a lack of talent, but because a lack of winners mentality...in the upcoming transfer window Wenger should change that...he must buy good players with a winners mentality who are not injury prone...
