You guys have got a great player in gallas, very disappointed to see him leave :(, but at the same time, you've got another ashley cole, gallas is very selfish and doesnt care about his club.

Hey, Gallas is nothing close to Cashley Cole...... Gallas is a very principled guy/player.... How do u lots explain why the likes of JT, Lampard are ahead of Gallas in wages.. I mean roughly about $30-35/week..

This is the most versatile player in modern game right now. The guy can play RB,LB, CB..at world class level....Even wen stats proved dat Gallas/JT combo conceded fewer goals... Mourinho still prefered him to backup positions....

I would feel the same way tooo... He was unappreciate in Chelsea... They offered megabucks.. to Lampard , JT and even to Ballack n Shevy...

So the guy is no where close to been a Cashley Cole....

what is baptista mind frame? He does not want to leave,I hope he will be like tiago who left sad ,but perform well for Lyon

The only reason why baptista opted for real madrid last year was solely to get spanish citizenship...which u acquire for been there for like 3-4 yrs i believe... So it did make alotta sense for him to remain in spain especially wit real madrid knockin at the door for your service....

However had it been a little club like espanyol dat came him... He wud have been wit Arsenal last season...

Currently, He had no choice but to come over to arsenal, because he does fit into capello plan for the club.So his mindset, is about proving himself as a top player. As long as he doesnt become home sick like Reyes,

We certainly got a top notched player with a chip on his back... The BEAST IS IN TOWN.....

ADEBAYOR WATCH OUT !!!!!!!!

what a coup for west ham so unexpected.

well baptista is in, i need to see some more of him i only saw a little of real games last year, but if he is a 'BEAST', then its good we need someone who can bully players around.

and coles out, damn good left back, but if clichy can come in, and hell even flamini did a amazing job last year. all the best to him but this whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

and gallas, i think this is what we have lacked for a good while now, quality center back, and i mean real quality, him and toure should be great.

There is no way West Ham can afford those two players.. .especially when heavy weights like man utd .. arsenal were all ova both players on d last day for transfer...

This transfer has alotta of MSI and Abramhimovich written all over it...

AS an aside, what do we make of Alan Pardew now... with his rants abt arsenal signings foreigners....

Why are people always looking for scapegoats. Blame everything on chelsea and abramovich. I know chelsea are scumbags that only exist through Abramhimovich's pocket, but everytime arsenal or Man Utd lose out on something, all I hear from fans is 'oh its chelsea's fault, they must of had something to do with this' its chelsea why we didnt win the league'its chelsea's fault we couldnt buy any players 'its chelses fault I could'nt get a girlfriend' Oh its all chelsea and abramovich fault!

I can see you have otha things going on in your life....

Whether you like it or not... West Ham cant afford those two players...Tevez is rated 25million... when Man Utd enquired abt him... and mascherano.... in the range 8-15 million

Have you checked out the summer transfers for west ham before recent signing of tevez and mascherano....

Carlton Cole undisclosed
Robert Green 2mill
Painstil 1mill
Lee Bowyer undisclosed
Jonathan Spector 500,000
Stech undisclosed
Mears 1mill
McCartney 1mill

Need i remind you that MSI own player rights to this two players and last year and currently are back again for takeover talks... still in the early stages....

Tevexz and Mascherano fees are confidential and wud never be disclosed.

You can believe what you want.. i have no problem wit that.... but i know as well as you know... that WEST HAM DIDNT GET RICH OR RICHER OVER NIGHT... to wrap up both players on permanent deal... worth close to 30-35million bucks...

Im sure MSI who are in talks with west ham payed for the transfer for west ham so the takeover would go over more smoothly.
But what the hell has MSI takeover talks with west ham and them getting mascherano and tevez got anythinig to do with chelsea or Abramovich? I guess you think Abramovich made a deal with MSI for them to send Masc and tevez to west ham to prevent Man Utd and Arsenal from getting them. How ridiculous. People need to get it out their heads that their clubs have no special right to sign every big name player and if they dont someone must have been involved to corrupt sometthing. May I remind you they are only contracted to west ham for a year in which a clause is in their contract that says they can go at the end of season if someone bids 18million for one of them.

So has he completed the move or is he still awaiting International clearance ?

Personally I think that the signing of Gallas is a very very good one indeed, his versatility and experiance are what we have been lacking at the back for some time now, I believe he will be the solution to our defensive problems.

As for 'The Beast' I know little about him apart from he scored something like 50 goals in 2 seasons as Sevilla then played in midfield when he went to Real. It will be interesting to see where Arsene fits him into the starting eleven.

Bon chance Pascal

I hope he does ok. I don't think he was shit. He wasn't the new Tony Adams that Wenger said he was when you bought him though. Just not right for the Prem. Look at Forlan. He did ok in Spain. Cygan'll be fine.

Poor Pascal, the Prem was just too fast for him! I always thought he played better in Europe and was a better player than people gave him credit for. I just don't think the he was suited to the English game.

The pace is slower in Spain so I think he will fit in better there! Good luck Pascal!

Spot on. He wasn't THAT bad but he wasn't worthy of any of the top prem sides either. He would have trundled along nicely at a club like Villa, Charlton or Blackburn. He did at least always give 100% and I guess you can't ask any more from a player.

look enough of the pascal cygan we miss u fanclub!

-------------Lemon

---------Toure----Gallas
Eboue----------------------Clichy/Flamini

--------------Gilberto
-------------------Fabregas
------Baptista------------------Rosicky
Hleb

-----------------Henry

I can see three things happening.

Gil, Fab and Bap getting some kinda rotation going.

Ade and Henry up front with VanP getting subbed in sometimes and starting others.

I actually think VanP looks real sharp this season some of his shots are rockets, hit the post and stuff, just like the fact hes willing to shoot from any angle, seems so dangerous. good to see as we overpass sometimes.

Fuckin hell the emirates stadium is a work of art :applause:, i loved the day and to add the girls from both teams were hot in that sun!

West Ham fans would welcome Beckham. They've wanted to hang him since 1998 and they may get their chance;)

Great blog this morning from Arseblog:

Chelsea last night released an amazing statement on their official website giving their side of the William Gallas departure. They said that William Gallas threatened to score own goals, make deliberate mistakes or get sent off on purpose if he was picked to play against Manchester City.

Reading it is just comical. The Chelsea 'family', heh. Give me a break. The Blues are painted as whiter than white and Gallas as a complete monster. Now, maybe Gallas didn't behave as well as he might have done but for the club to accuse him of something like this is just crazy and smacks of bitterness and shows a total lack of class. Compare that to Arsene Wenger's kind words about Ashley Cole who, to my mind, behaved far worse that Gallas.

To stain the reputation of a player who has always did his best for Chelsea in the seasons he was there is an own goal that may rebound on his former club. Even if what they allege was true it does them no credit to reveal it and unless they have proof to back it up they are leaving themselves wide open for a lawsuit.

But surely a well oiled machine like Chelsea wouldn't make a PR gaff like this. A club with the resources to hire the very best in the business must have the best PR person in the country, right? Well, here's an extract from Crystal Palace Chairman Simon Jordan's column in the Guardian from a few months ago:

The closest I've come to losing it with a journalist was in 2002, after London's Evening Standard, who'd always had great access and cooperation from us, started producing a string of barbed, personal piss takes.

I decided that if they wanted to write this stuff, fine, but they weren't going to do it on our premises, so I withdrew their accreditation. The sports editor's reaction was this: instead of calling me, he phoned our shirt sponsor to suggest they reduced payments to us because they'd be getting less exposure in the Standard. Then he warned me that banning Standard journalists would have a negative effect on Palace's results. I asked him what the hell he was talking about, and he implied that if I obstructed his journalists and restricted his press access, the type of coverage they'd be giving us would have a negative effect on morale.

So where is this guy now? Four years on, he's the top PR man at Cuntski, a club with a reputation for obstructing journalists and restricting press access. PR Week says 'Simon Greenberg is about to embark on a major charm offensive' in football, to boost Cuntski's image. Stand back, and watch him go.

Brilliant, look at him go! It's no wonder that for all their success on the pitch Chelsea are, without doubt, the most despised club in world football. Even at the height of our rivalry with United there was a grudging respect that they had earned their titles, spent their own money on the players that helped them win them and they had a history of being a big club. Their success was built on having a large fan base and being a club top players wanted to play for because of the prestige, not the money. Chelsea is nothing but a Russian oligarch's plaything and they earn about as much respect as Paris Hilton.

It is without doubt the most unprofessional, classless thing I think I have ever witnessed from a supposed 'big' club and acts like this show why, no matter how much they win, Chelsea will never be a big club. I'm really looking forward to see how bad the backlash of this is.

Gallas responded last night, saying:

I am surprised and shocked by these claims. I never said that I would score own goals if I had to play for Chelsea again. I was firm about my wanting to leave, that is true, and I will explain in due time why I wanted to, but I never went that far. But if people want to hide behind false accusations in order to give a reason for why I left so they can calm down the club's supporters then they can.

You get the feeling this could run and run. More comment from Goodplaya and a nice take on it from Arsenal Shorts.

Not much else happening today but I reckon that's enough. Tomorrow we'll wait for Chelsea's statement saying Eidur Gudjonson used to eat all the skin off the KFC, Tiago never made his bed and Asier del Horno's Christmas presents were always cheap.
