Arsenal Thread

Ashley cole makes me sick to be honest. When he came on for chelsea in their kit, he just looked scum, like he had sold his soul for money.

We already know that we won't win the league this year, so its nothing new you saying that and it won't provoke the reaction you are looking for. Cups remain our best chance of silverware.

I'm not after a reaction. I just don't get much chance to take the piss as you don't drop points often enough. Also, I couldn't pass up the morison's joke;) I can't think of a Viduka one.

IceMan_Bergkamp who are these sexy asian girls on your avator?

Are they Pakistan, Hindu, or what (also are they from Tooting, east London?)? More importantly do you know them?

Back on topic...

Yes, Gallas is gangsta!!!

Thats different, Ashley grew up a gooner. He was in the junior gunners, he was one of us. He loved the club and its all gone wrong over a quibble over £5k a week and he then spoke to Chelsea. Its been downhill since then.

Thats what hurt the most, he is living the dream really, from supporter to player and look what has happened.

If Thierry had left for Barca then I don't really think any gooner could have blamed him.

this where I side with the players though, it was the same with barton and siddy last season....

cole loved arsenal, probley worked his socks off and was loyal to the club, he then see's alot of players come thru the door getting more money than him and in some cases probley treated better than him.

Its not the £5k its the principle, im sure at your job if the guy next to you was getting nearly double your wage and you asked for a rise only for your gaffer to haggle over £5K (and your still getting paid less than the dude next to you) youd be pissed off aswell...

Yeah good point, but the 5k was supposedly to do with payments to his agent, Cole wanted Arsenal to pay HIS agent for the deal. Thats not the clubs job, its the players agent at the end of the day so the club said ok we will pay him but you will get 5k less to make up for it. Do you really think a club the size of ours would risk losing a player like Cole for £5k a week?

Cole at the time of the contract would have been our 3rd or 4th highest earning player, not bad for a left back. He is always going to earn less as defenders usually do.

fair enough, I still think though that players get shitted on all the time by clubs and no one says anything yet when a player stands up for himself (although we will never know the the full facts) we all turn on the player...

we expect cos they earn so much to put up with pretty much anything but life aint like that and I really dont believe its about the money cos they already have so much, I also (like with beckham and united) think that cole would have stayed at the club had the club not turned they're back on him (for whatever reason).

Still its all done now, chelsea have a good player and so do arsenal its just disapointing that both clubs have come out of it with tarnished reputations (especially arsenal, I expect that shit from chavski)

We walked by reception and into a meeting room called the Green Room where we found Pini (Zahavi, Chelsea’s agent) sat alone. We must have been in there about 20 minutes when Pini suddenly flicked his wrist to look at his watch — “Time! Time! My next meeting . . .” and he started to get up out of his chair. The door opened and José Mourinho and Peter Kenyon walked in.

Yeah good one Ashley, I can't believe the Premier Lague Enquiry didn't believe that you fucking idiot!

At the moment I would take a point as that would be a good result and would hopefully build confidence so we can get a run going.

LOL! Trust me, it's hard to work with them also! ;)

On the United front, i think Wenger will deploy a 4.5.1 like in last seasons champions league. United in the last games we've played have sat back absorbed and then attacked on the counter.

We've also got bossed silly in the middle and been lightweight. Therefore, i think the Baptista HAS to play. But who do we drop? Gilbert Grape or Cescy? It's up to Wenger what he thinks is best, but i think we'll pan out something like below:

--------------Lemon------------

Eboue----Kolo----Djourou---Gallas

---------Baptista---Gilbert---------

-----Fred----Cescy----Culkin---

------------TH14-------------------

I expect them to sit like that, and then on the attack, this happens...

--------------Lemon------------

Eboue----Kolo----Djourou---Gallas

---------Baptista---Gilbert---------

---------------Cescy----------------

Fred------------------------Culkin-
------------TH14--------------------

We need to deploy the wings as i can't see us bearing any fruit trying to get through the centre of the United defence.

I actually think Arsenal should have a good chance of winning this weekend. Just seems to me that Wenger should have his boys up for it, this is potentially a huge game for the Gunners - a loss means a pretty large points difference, even this early in the season.

I think it all comes down to how well Rooney and Scholes gel tomorrow - if they look great and the team play well, United should be alright against Arsenal - but if they look off, then Fergie is going to have a real tough time picking a team on Sunday. Looking forward to a good match!

I think this article sums up my feelings (and the majority of Gooners) toward the the little chav.

exactly the same thing for Gallas!!it was not a case of being left back or cB but money!!!he was surely wondering why ballack, sheva or even Jt earn much more money than him !he was during 5 years and gave a lot for the club!!so i have to get paid much more!!!move on!!

However, leaving all that aside, unquestionably Mediawatch's favourite extract from today's comments is the following revelation:

"Too many people took constructive criticism way too personally and wouldn't talk to you for a week."

Presumably constructive criticism like "Stop talking to other clubs, you money-grabbing little toerag" had a similar effect on Our Hero.

You also gotta love football365.com's mediawatch!

This is from Red Issue:

Ashley Cole talks about ‘Pizzagate’.

From his book serialization:

“This slice of pizza came flying over my head and hit Fergie straight in the mush. The slap echoed down the tunnel and everything stopped - the fighting, the yelling, everything. All eyes turned and all mouths gawped to see this pizza slip off that famous puce face and roll down his nice black suit.

“I thought Ferguson was going to explode but then he stormed off into the dressing room cursing and grunting, brushing the crumbs and stains off his collar. We all went back into the dressing room and fell about laughing. All I can say is that the culprit wasn`t English or French, so that should narrow it down.

“By the time we were walking down that extendable plastic tunnel everyone was having a go at each other. There were shouts of ‘you fucking cheats’and players were running into a jostling huddle where the narrow tunnel opens into a wider mouth. I was jammed in the middle. I heard the boss [Arsene Wenger] hammering Ferguson; incandescent French, verbally sparring with the bullish Scotsman.”

Meanwhile in the Times, Martin Samuel takes a closer look at his literacy masterpiece:

“From the moment I picked up your book until I laid it down, I was convulsed with laughter. Someday I intend reading it” - Groucho Marx

So what is your favourite bit? Oh, come on, you must have one. We all do. OK, I’ll tell you mine. It is the moment when Ashley is giving evidence to the FA Premier League (FAPL) inquiry. “A brief meeting with Pini Zahavi was interrupted by a knock on the door,” he told them. “In walked the Chelsea manager and chief executive, there was general chit-chat and then we left.”

Beautiful, isn’t it? General chit-chat: football’s equivalent of the yada, yada, yada. You don’t know the yada, yada, yada? Oh, sit down. You’ll like this.
There is an episode of Seinfeld in which George Costanza is dating a girl called Marcy, who edits every story with the catch-all phrase “yada, yada, yada”. “So I’m on Third Avenue, minding my own business and, yada, yada, yada, I get a free massage and a facial . . .”

At first, George finds this liberating because it allows him to gloss over uncomfortable events in his own life. “We were engaged to be married, we bought the wedding invitations and yada, yada, yada, I’m still single . . .”

(In fact, he accidentally killed his fiancée, poisoning her with toxic adhesive after buying cheap invitation envelopes.) “What’s she doing now?” Marcy asks. “Yada,” George says. Then this happens.

Marcy: “My old boyfriend came over last night and yada, yada, yada, I’m really tired today . . .”

See where we are now? It is much the same with Cole. He yada-ed his illegal meeting with Chelsea to such an extent that compilers of the official FAPL report admitted grave difficulty in giving credence to his account, or that of his agent, Jonathan Barnett.

There is a more detailed version of it in his book “Ashley Cole: My Dear God, Does He Really Think Anyone Will Go For This Nonsense”, sorry, Ashley Cole: My Defence, but the reason Chelsea officials are happy to have it out there, in contradiction to their evidence to the FAPL is because Cole’s yada, yada, yada description of the meeting is so incredible that no one will believe it.

He's lucky he got the move; otherwise, this 'book' would be on the back burner for all time. I hope he goes the same way as Del Horno..

The thing is, he is just too stupid and too arrogant to realize that he has become a laughing stock. I can't believe how a player can change so drastically in 2 years.

From his crappy promo pics with Tweedy in the national lottery draw to his wedding shots for some blahzay magazine that deals with shite z-list celebrities doing shite things.

Yeah he's got a trophy wife, but wasn't this the same woman who gave that Nigerian cleaner a black eye and called her a 'N'*? Guess is doesn't matter eh Cheryl, when someone is going to be paying your meal ticket for the rest of your life. I mean, how many more cover songs can you do?

He's deluded and needs help! Sensationalism sells. No one wants to read about likkle boy waking up, getting into his car and going to training. They need some controversy. The media is to blame as much as anyone else in this country for pushing/promoting crap. No wonder the Red Tops are in decline.

With all the English players 'writing' autobiographies before/during the world cup, it's little wonder England blew it in Germany.

* I apologise for using the N word, as I understand that it is a derogatory description, but was not used in a profane way - just to highlight the hypocrisy of a Newcastle cocksucker.
