Arsenal Thread

Yes, that in fact was a 2nd yellow. Still, that foul would never be yellow card worthy in a Premier League match. Not even verbal warning you'd see for that, If I may say so.
Although mistimed, there was no malice and it wasn't violent at all, he even managed to stop movement halfway through it.

I didn't see that match, just a few highlights. I don't know if Giroud was complaining all the time with the ref. Still, a ref should be able to separate things, not to go sending players off just because they were annoying.

Well, that unpleasant combination of D.Costa + Mike Dean proved to be too much for us.

I think the whole world knows that a cunt Costa is, except Arsenal players. They don't know how to deal with that. But if they know (as they should) that the only thing in Costa's mind is getting someone sent off, it was time to take Gabriel out of that and talk to him.

There was no leadership IMO. Love Cazorla, but a captain he's not. Neither is Arteta.

I think maybe Mertesacker would have had the intelligence to intervene there. Cech did it at first, but on the 2nd occasion he couldn't leave his goal and take care of it.

We're in need of leadership. No way guys like Adams, Keown, Dixon and Vieira would have stood for that today.

Oh how I wish one of those guys you mentioned, or in our case a Vidic or a Stam would've been around to tell Costa to f off.

Well, the fact that Gabriel n Costa speak the same language. Is probably a situation needed addressing. Kosc had a few unpleasantries in a span of seconds. He held his nerve ,but was shocked, how Costa reacted so vile (chest bump).

Gabriel thought he could calm him down and the boiling point was too hot to handle by then. I think Kompany w`d of love that face off w/ Diego. Either way Chelsea won we lost -_-

I thought you had a better opinion and taste for football, Gerd.

Take the lead from a set-piece (for a foul that never happened) and then sit on that 1-0 lead against a 9-men side by playing all out defense and possession with no intent other than making time pass at your own turf.
I wouldn't say this is very deserving, especially when you resign from playing football with 2 extra men and nearly let the other team equalise (Alexis miscued a clear cut 1-on-1 chance that could have changed the course of the match).
I'd say Mourinho was lucky, more like.

And for it to be deserved in the first place, there should be a fair officiating today. For Costa to stay on the pitch is a disgrace for football, whether you support Arsenal or you're neutral.

In the words of Wenger, Costa "can do what he wants and he stays on". In the 2nd half he was diving and kicking Ox off the ball as if he wasn't on a yellow. I mean, how could he... is there an answer for that?!

No offense meant rentboy, but every time Arsenal doesn't win you blame the refs, every single time.

In short.

Supposedly penalty on Hazard: never a penalty.
Costa: i hope the FA looks at the footage and given him a lengte ban.
Gabriel Paulista: very, very stupid. These guys are professional football players and should react accordingly. Costa started it but Paulista could have easily avoids this red card (which imo was never a yellow, let alone a red, but he should have known better with this awfull ref).
Zouma goal: great pass, great run, awfull defending, typical Arsenal.
Second yellow for Cazorla: stupid and could have been a straight red.

Wenger had a calamitous week.
Rested some players against Zagreb in order t win against his nemesis and lost both matches and 3 of his better players. Underestimated Zagreb and overestimated (once again) his own players.

Blaming it on Costa and the ref is self-delusion. Where was Ozil? Where was Sanchez? Where was Ramsey?

Arsenal is top 4, but with this squad and this manager will never be able to take the next hurdle and that has nothing to do with referees.

Well, I may have complained about refs in the past, but rarely had I so much material to work with as today.
It would amaze me if you think I don't have a reason to complain about Mike Dean today?

It's not self delusion - being put one man down when it's 0-0 kinda makes an impact on the result, you know...

I agree that you have every reasonto complain about Dean.

And yes with 10 against 11, Arsenal lost every opportunity to win this match.

But:

1 the fact that Arsenal ended up with ten players at the end of the first half was not only Dean's mistake. In an age where every match is analysed, Gabriël Paulistashould have known that he had to get away as soon as possible from Diego Costa. At the beginning he had the best intentions, but then he let himself drag down to Costa's level and ended up looser in a game he could never win and should never have engaged in. Somebody must have warned the players about this.

2 Chelsea with 10 men would have parked the bus and would have got at least a point. The fact is that Arsenal can't defend and aren't attacking good enough. As aSpurs fan, i alwaysloved Arsenal because they played very attractive football. Since last season, they hardly do.

3. The invincibles would have ended this match with 11 players and wiuld have won this. I'm pretty sure that agaisnt that team Costa would have been sent off.

The current Arsenal crop is overrated...there is not enough struggle within the squad.

Wenger should go...

What's really awesome about Costa's 'play' is that the only way to 'beat' him is to cheat even worse.

If Kolscielny goes down holding his face when struck (which Diego Costa would have done in a f*cking microsecond) then Dean probably gives Costa the card he deserves. But because the defender manned up, he was punished by the ref.

Costa is a coward. When you see injuries like the one on Shaw midweek, you do wonder where football karma is. Because if it exists, there's an ACL tweak coming to Diego at some point.

He's apparently the most hated player in Portuguese football after his time there, and close to the most hated in Spain from his time there. Brazil hates him because he cold shouldered them. Now he's working hard on England. When he retires, the endearing memory of him will be: he was a crap striker for most of his career, and he was a tw*t.

Interesting find by Mehtab in the Chelsea thread.
This isn't the first run in between Gabriël and his friend Diego Costa.
And guess who played a litle bit ofcomedia de'll arte in the match between Villareal and Atletico?

Not Diego Costa...so Costa served Gabriël a cookie from his own dough...

I'm glad Gabriel's red card appeal was given . Mike Dean looks foolish allowing Costa to guide his affairs. Wenger spoke against ref and the weakness of the league ,wasn't fined, Mou spoke look a proper fool his MOTM will get a hefty fine/ ban \0/ Chelsea as a club will get a fine too I heard lol.

Yes, this is great news. But as far as the match itself is concerned, it doesn't repair the damage to Arsenal, having had to play an entire half with 10 men.

Still, good to see that common sense still shows its face in the FA quarters every now and then. I hoped as well for some reproach and accountability to fall upon Mike Dean. Because as I said, the real damage (what really matters is the result) is done, Arsenal lost all 3 points and an exciting game of football was ruined - all due to the pathological need of that little man to put himself center and front of the show.

How did Arsenal manage to get footage of Gabriel making No contact!!! On Costa. I heard it was through a Brazil cameraman for Brasil TV. Another way for Brasil to get back at Costa... avit!!!!

I want to see that footage too. Otherwise it's just a FA bullshit which I am use to anyway.

Yeah, its the FA that are the problem.

Talk about highlighting how utterly crap the ref was. A 3 match ban for blatant violent conduct (how he "didn't" see it is beyond me, maybe an "in" joke towards Wenger) and now the red card he did give rescinded.

Have said it before - the FA are guided by one thing and one thing only: the media.

Hence Rooney getting the first and only ban for cursing in football. Because it was on back pages and loop on Sky Sports.

Now their camears are pointed at Diego Costa, lo and behold, he gets a ban and this bizarre over-turning.

They're a political organisation, designed to ensure maximum revenues to the organisations dependent on them.

How many other players have done what Rooney did tho? His ban was perfectly justified imo

With that said, it's just wrong to let Gabriel off completely. He should have had the ban reduced to 1 game (2 yellows) at most. They have reduced bans before. So what if there's no contact? Taking a swing at someone and missing would still be violent conduct.

The game was looking more of a draw until the wrong send off. Chelsea should of played 10 men down. The damage n pts gone. Gabriel ban makes no difference , you knew Costa w'd get a ban. After the game he kicked out at Alex and nothing. He was easy to give Cazorla his marching orders on a 50/50 challenge. I'd be more happy for Dean to be suspend a few matches. Then Costa !

Spurs have completely lost it!
