Yeah and the worst thing about that is freaking Piers Morgan being at today's game. Just for that reason I hope we take it to them in the second. Right up there with the Kardashians for most annoying "celebrities".
He just said this is the best first half he s ever seen Arsenal play..sums it up really.

Some real angry fellas there!

Arsenal have been brilliant going forward with lightning fast transitions. But to me what really stands out today so far is the work rate. When you see guys like Walcott sprinting and sliding like that to dispossess Schweinsteiger, you realise those guys are in the right mood for it!

This combination of objectivity and work rate should be our blue print for the big matches.

That was a thing of beauty. Shame we wasted a great chance through Ramsey and that Ox chip came off the bar, would have been an epic goal. Still, great to see an emphatic win and also when we were under pressure Cech showed why he was brought to Arsenal.

Great display overall. The damage was inflicted mostly by that Walcott-Özil-Sanchez trio, although Ramsey and Cazorla had a great participation and Coq was more solid than ever.
But that Alexis Sanchez... that man is a force of nature!

I don`t see too many beat the GK from that acute angle , he had one option to back heel the ball. Matteo Darmian will have nightmares over his incarceration in Sanchez`s back pocket.Mutd were shocking ,but I was shocked, too! Seeing Theo playing like a winger instead of a ST. That assist to Ozil was the most brilliant decision instead of always trying opt A- shoot.

Yep Darmian was absolutely disastrous. He s has quite a few lapses of concentration the last few games. Hopefully it's just a blip. I'd be really really surprised if LVG doesn't go for another left and or right back in January. This whole "who shall we try to put back there" game is starting to get old. I mean.. We started with Ashley fkin Young as a defender and have no proper cover for Darmian if he has a shit game like today. Valencia doesn't count.

Anyhoo.. We don't have a lot of pacey players like Arsenal but I do believe we have the better technical players. There is no reason why our passing needs to be so pedestrian. We can't keep up a foot race against your speedy midgets.

You have some pretty darn fast and tricky players yourselves (Young, Valencia, Memphis). It's just that your manager is going Cuckoo playing some of them as defenders (Young and Valencia won't cut it at full back). Maybe it's a thing of necessity at the moment, but those guys would be better deployed in a more advanced role.

As for United having more technical players, I'm gonna have to dispute that. Schweinsteiger is a great passer of the ball and was a great addition... But people like Özil, Cazorla, Alexis, Ramsey... It doesn't get much more technical than that.

United tried beating Arsenal at their game (possession) but before they could really retain possession for big chunks of time, it was too little too late.

The things that Arsenal should keep as a blueprint against such teams are: pressure high up the pitch and that incisiveness, pacey objectivity that we saw today.

I hope we have this exact plan in place ready to be executed to perfection against Chelsea when they come to the Grove - although Mourinho will come with his bus well and truly parked as he does on away matches (IF he is still their manager, that is). Still, it'd be great to see at least the high pressure and work rate against them and see how they deal woth that.

As for City, they're more of a ball playing team, so it should be open and more exciting.

Wouldn't go as far parking the bus like Jose, but against Arsenal at the Emirates it's just sensible to play on the counter as they tend to over commit. LVG got it badly wrong today and, although we generally don't get smashed at the Emirates, Pellegrini doesn't know what "counter" means.

Ferguson was generally more successful than Wenger even when Arsenal were at their best because he had that little bit of pragmatism.

These days managers are obsessed with 'philosophy' and 'style' (LVG's and MP's favourite words) , sometimes I think it's just a convenient cover for being limited.

Yeah Sir Alex had it sussed, you don't play into Arsenal's hand by trying to outplay them, always been a fantastic footballing side, we've had much better sides than this one go to the Emirates and give up possession.

The smart choice would have been to sitback and let Memphis and Martial and Mata hit you on the break.

Think it's funny as F365 pointed out:

Wenger on Wednesday - when a team scores 3 goals from 4 shots it is unlucky, in 99 out of 100 matches that does not happen.

Wenger on Sunday - team wins scoring 3 goals from 5 shots.

Guess that last shot it the key!

Guess u diddnt watch either match?

First of all the quality of the goals are night and day. United diddnt let in easy goals due to piss poor defending/lucky deflected shots and united diddnt dominate the match at all.

2nd of all Olympiacos scored a deflected goal, a own goal my our GK and another one curtasy of shit defending by arsenal.

complete contrast

Olympiacos did defend well though i give u that but got gifted all their goals.

Oh I know, I'm just kidding. I liked the tongue in cheek comment from F365.

You absolutely deserved to beat us on Sunday. No idea what LVG was playing at.

He was optimistic , and felt Arsenal struggling @ home was an opportunity to dismantle Arsenal at their own game. Let's be honest no one saw that coming 3gols under 20 minutes. Many times we out played Mutd to lose 2 nil @Emirates. If , he would of won it would be same old Arsenal and mutd title favourites ! Now it Wenger saying ... You see I want to extend my contract! I left my wife for Arsenal ...

Arsenal actually had 9 shots, but 5 were on target.

To be fair, Van Gaal didn't change his way of playing. Last season United defeated us at the Emirates playing just like that, and I remember complaining here that there were lots of spaces and Arsenal were wasteful. We did the same blitz but must have wasted some 3 or 4 clear cut chances (I remember Wilshere in particular missing from like 5 yards against De Gea).

The difference this time around is that Arsenal were ruthless in taking the chances early on, hence the quick 3-0 that was built in 20 minutes.

This is the unpredictability of football really. On a bad day, it wouldn't be far fetched to imagine Arsenal managing to lose this last United match.

Aye I was just posting in redcafe that we just had to weather the storm a bit longer and you lot would back off and we d be fine. That of course didn't happen this time and the first goal hit a few seconds after I put that up..that's when I knew we d be in for a long ride. Had hope we d score in the second but we created nothing despite the possession control. Oddly though I rather lose like this then being the victim of bad luck or major reffing errors.

It's never a shame losing to a team when everything clicks. Losing or drawing because the penalty or deflections are part of it. The hardest are GK errors and off side goals when the call was wrongly given. We should be 2 pts ahead from Liverpool draw.

Arsenal playing w/ such low intensity until the 50th + minute. Ramsey slows the game way too much, too many stops and turns. Its good for Giroud to rebuild his own confidence by getting goals in such a short time frame. The scoreline just proves how dangerous, They could be at any moment.

Watford gave all they could but their finishing is by far the worst I seen in the league:shiver:.

Wenger out! :D

no realy, great match but you were lucky, or Bayern unlucky...

however Bellerin is a top class talent, can´t believe how good he is in his age...

also Coquelin, Alexis...Cazorla, realy masters of football.

great match but also Olympiacos won...will be interesting group to watch still.

Tbf Giroud has become the super sub coming off the bench and scoring in the last (3) matches. Bellerin is a Barça academy graduate, we pick that cherry. He would still be in the reserves tbh, coming to Arsenal was smart for his career. Players can always take advantage once they get their chance due to injuries and how he's been great. I think tonight he grew into the match... He was getting easily turn and he just grew w/ confidence. Coq is a seasonal loan player that changed overnight. Sanchez gave a few loose balls due to players just watching him dazzling about. Cech was huge , I'm hoping for a draw in Munich , still last though lol.

There's been definitely an improvement this season, we are getting gradually back to the good glory days.
In recent years Arsenal have always been criticised for not being able to beat the big teams, this was repeated like a mantra by pundits.
Well, this is getting behind us. Last season we knocked Man United out at their place and went on to win the FA Cup and this season we've beaten Chelsea at the Community Shield, and emphatic win vs United at home and now we've just beaten Bayern Munich, who... you know, are very good at football. The beauty of it was that it was a different situation to the United game. We didn't score 3 goals and sucker punched them and ran away with it. We had to actually withstand all the passing, possession and pressure by Bayern during most of the game, but in the end still won 2-0 and kept a clean sheet in the process. That's formidable progress.

Speaking of clean sheets: look at the difference when we have Cech at goal. Makes you wonder what the hell happened with Ospina getting the nod over Cech in the first 2 matches.

As for Bellerin: it's mind blowing to think how he nearly went out on loan! TBH we all took as a fact that Mathieu Debuchy was hands down our first choice right back. His injuries had a massive silver lining, which is the rise of Hector Bellerin. What a top player indeed! Such pace, but he's got great control too. He's developing at a staggering pace and now it's difficult to imagine Debuchy getting some game time.

Ramsey picked and injury and we 've got Everton tomorrow. Let's see who plays and how we do.
