Arsenal Thread

As long as The Ox don`t get ahead of himself by not tracking back and going for glory. I rather Theo on the wing and Giroud up top.

Especialist in...?
Top of the league, bioatch!

Ozil is also top of the assist league.

Season so far going on the right track despite todays match
team playing really well Sanchez back to proper form Ozil playing well, Giroud doing pretty decent Defence playing well Coquelin amazing overall really happy so great good solid results the bayern munich match was a fantastic performance

the quality sanchez brings is amazing and i think gives confidence to the entire team when hes playing to his max

everton match was close it shouldve been more than just 2-1 didnt take the chances
watford was a great game where it was very tough but after 70 mins they were tired arsenal took full advantage
against man utd incredibile first 20 mins just took them by surprise with 3 great goals

About todays match........
Probably just for safety hopefully but quite a bit of bad luck
ox and theo off injured hopefully not too serious
hutchinson tackle on kamara only yellow which shouldve been red which everyone probably would agree and him scoring too which of course had to happen
our best two chances were called offside giroud was onside other only a very minor bit offside
times when arsenal on the break a wednesday player goes down
referee letting sheffield wednesday being very aggressive but arsenal cant even touch a player
the senior players on the pitch not stepping up
mertersacker terribile on left side of the two cbs

just now campbell taken out.... given advantage when no one else was up sheffield break debuchy tackle and gets yellow card when campbell was still on the ground... LOGIC when we kicked it out for them multiple times...

Kicking and taking out players from behind constantly and nothing!
They fall like flies with 0 contact free kick!

arsenal kicked the ball out for someone who done a dangerous tackle and got himself injured.............. seriously
then takes the long way off........
their goalie fixing his socks before taking kicks

Belik shouldve been on instead of kamara from the start and probably shouldve went all youngsters
but probably better be out of this and focus on the real competitions

3 mins of extra time lol should be 20!

20 extra minutes wouldn't have done any difference. Wenger himself congratulates the opponent, the scoreline was comprehensive enough. No complaints here, although I haven't seen the match. Just highlights and they were 80% Sheffield United attacking.

I guess it's fair to say youngsters like Iwobi and especially Kamara aren't ready for this level of football. Wenger said so himself. I wonder where that other kid, Adellaide, was. He seemed quite good and mature for his age at the Emirates cup.

This is what you get also when you field players who haven't been used at all so far, like Debuchy and Campbell, who simply isn't taking his chances unfortunately.

Our participation in that cup served only as a means to kick Spurs out of a competition, and that's fine by me!

Now we haven't got a competition where we can field youngsters anymore. Joel Campbell and Co. can prepare for a whole season in the wilderness unless they get loaned out.

think you were watching the wrong highlights mate,

hutchinson tackle crazy though, he lucky to stay on, but arsenal still deserves to lose , there isn't any difference between mid-table PL & championship these days.

Dunno man, just watched some footytube highlights
I suppose Arsenal had much more of the ball, but possession doesn't show in highlights. The most dangerous ones were really from Sheffield. The tackle wasn't shown though, so I really can't say about that.

To answer my own question, that kid Jeff something-something Adelaide The Third... turns out he was at a U17 world cup in Chile. So here's why Wenger didn't use the youngster who looked by far the most impressive for us this season.

And apparently Joel Campbell will be playing in the next 3 matches or so on our right wing, because of the injuries to Theo and Ox. I hope he does find some form and it all clicks for him. This is gonna be make or break for him.

Joel is not the same player from before. I think one very good quality he has is tracking back. I think Bellerin is better going foward atm , that felt weird to type lol.

I think this could open doors for him , if he capalise it. He failed at crossing (cup match)5/5 ! So short passes on the cuff might convince others he can stay on, or Bellerin on the wing and Debushy at back.

I do agree that arsenal still deserved to loose and most things wouldnt have made a difference only one may be the crazy tackle from hutchinson and if it wasnt for the injuries

campbell has another chance and he needs to take it or he'll never will
he was amazing for costa rica during the world cup
he needs to find that form for arsenal but hopefully being surrounded with players that would usually start hopefully it'll motivate campbell and improve him since he's playing probably a near full game today
he was very disappointing in the capital one but the whole squad was almost full of youngsters and then the injuries too didnt help
come on campbell this is your perfect chance in starting 11
take it!

bit annoying regarding ox and walcott but it means the other players need to step up like campbell etc...

Less convincing first half, buTT just like last fixture we made it look simple in the 2nd half. The goals were soft and you can only take your chances- Bellerin \0/ what a player.

Some amazing runs by bellerin today

Campbell was outstanding my opinion especially for someone who to be honest had a stinker against sheffield
He done really well worked hard kept pressure on, and really happy for him that he got a goal too hopefully he can keep this up and prove himeself and get better

1st half was good defence wise but going forward there were some wasted chances like giroud shouldve buried the chance he had but main thing is that defence was solid and in the 2nd half the team took their chances with a much better performance going forward

I'm really glad for Campbell. It seems he is going to give it his best to take this chance. He worked really hard for the team, blocked a few crosses, tracked back and scored a goal. I'm delighted for him. If things go well enough, he could give Ramsey a run for his money on that right hand side.

Ozil had 2 assists and played sublime football. He's at his best since joining, no doubt. Not only that, he has the best average of assists in the history of the Premiership. I say keep it up Mesut!

The others played really well too, especially Bellerin, who has been playing some of the best RB stuff I've seen in years with an Arsenal shirt.
Alexis was lacklustre today, but he's got plenty of leeway.

Really pleased with the result. Liberty Stadium ain't an easy place to visit and we coped well.

This was the one game we could afford to lose since we first looked at the group we drew, it's fair to say. But not now, not 1-5!
Not only we stay bottom, now we have a pathetic goal difference.

To make matters worse Olympiakos beat Dinamo Zagreb and are joint top of the group with Bayern on 9 points.

We're walking on thin f*cking ice now, but not all is lost: the silver lining is that Bayern will play Olympiakos level on points, thus pretty interested in taking the 3 points. We have to hope they do the same to them as they did to us. Meanwhile, we should be looking to kick the living shit out of Zagreb at the Emirates.

Once some decent goal difference is restored and we reach 6 points against Olympiakos' 9, we should be going to Greece eyeying a victory which will be not an easy one to pull off.

This is the best scenario possible for us, if everything falls into place for us.
Most likely option though is the consolation of Europa league. I wouldn't mind, personally, playing a league I can't recall Arsenal playing. And one we can actually win, at that!

Goal difference doesn't matter Rentboy. We have to beat Olympiakos by at least 2 goals and Zagreb by 1-0 or better. Bayern have to win both games and we are through even with much worse goal difference.

The thing is you count on Arsenal to lose the critical everything-on-the-line matches. Even if it's Olympiacos, I can see the team collapsing and getting a draw or even a freakish loss.

I'm confused, why is that?
I thought we had to have a better goal difference. Cause if we beat Olympiacos we would be even on the head-to-head matches, as they won in London.

We're conjuring our chances here and all, but Olympiacos and Bayern could well easily draw as well, and it's all over for us.

But if logic prevails, Arsenal should go to the last matchday with a chance, needing to beat Olympiacos in Greece. I don't think Arsenal would bottle this as AK Rabona suggests. These players are used to difficulties and usually pull off something remarkable... only to exit the competition in the Last 16 at the hands of Barcelona

I could predict that before the CL draws. Arsenal don't get the best ref's calls. That Özil's goal was influential by the players and even Pep calling it a hand ball lol. Arsenal players lack that part of complaining to the refs. It's done on a unilateral individual portion , while others does it in a corporate manner. I would hate Arsenal playing Thursday night footy . I hate Sunday games - _-

In case you beat us (and you've won against Zagreb and we've lost in Munich), then we'll tie with 9 points. So, when 2 teams tie, the team with the most points won in the matches with each other goes on top.

But in this case, we'll tie again because each of us has 1 victory. So, on comes the second tie-breaker, the goal-difference in the games between us. We won 2-3 in London. In case we lose home with 0-1 or 1-2, then the gd is 0 (as the goal total is 3-3/4-4 respectively), but we go on top as we have more away goals (again, in the games between us) (3 to 1/2 respectively). So, not only you have to beat us, this must happen with at least 2 goal difference, or, at 1 goal difference but with the score in 3-4, 4-5 etc..
