Arsenal Thread

Looks like Chelsea sold us Pavel Sczcech, Cech's evil twin

Well, WHU were nothing more than solid. Good for them, but Arsenal were poor today.

What we saw from WHU was the defensive organisation that we had against Chelsea, that Mourinho mentioned in the Community Shield. This is the kind of situation that, if Chelsea had scored first, they would do the same to us. And when we are pitted against that we struggle. The problems showed today against a bus-parking team were all too familiar: lack of objectivity, urgency, etc. Lack of "sharpness" if we want to use one term from Wenger's lexicon.

Still early days, hope the team will pick themselves up and sharpen up phisically too, but the sluggish ways in our attacking is a familiar and recurring problem IMO.

Good hard worked win today

Great goal from Giroud, the performance was better
Arsenal started well and was shooting more when there were chances
Although after the first goal I felt then Arsenal weren't shooting as much then and were trying to make the perfect goal

Sanchez played decent but still not at 100% but you see the difference already with Sanchez in the team his work rate and always being the danager man

I hate the commentators i wish there'll be like a silent commentator audio track
Is Coquelin lucky yes ofcourse but was tomkins lucky not to be sent last week for west ham yes also but the commentators were moaning so much about coquelin being lucky... omg and doesnt mention any player who shouldve been sent off from the other team playing against arsenal
Is Cabaye lucky not to even get 1 yellow card maybe even 2 yes!
Also to say Zaha was trying to get Coquelin sent of by diving btw and the wickham (think it was) there wasnt much in it
ref was a bit all over the place there were bad decisions against both teams

the high boot thing is starting to get ridiculous
TIP! for any player when someone has their boot high jump in close and hold your face or hold your leg
Crystal palace got two dangerous free kicks when they shouldve never been

Overall I'm pleased with the game & performance but Arsenal needs 1 or 2 more players an alternative / backup to Coquelin and a striker

I think Coq was lucky not to get the 2nd yellow. I think Ozil was very exceptional today he could of had a hat-trick on assist . If only Alexis was 75% fit n sharp to bury those chances. I'm glad for Giroud getting on the score sheet . I think Wenger doesn't trust Chamberlain/Walcott defense abilities and won't be easy for them to get pick. I also find Cazorla better partnering Coq then Ramsey.

Yeah Ozil was great today 98% Passing accuracy
I think Ramsey is a problem sort of like you mentioned
Cazorla has done well with Coquelin
I just dont like Ramsey on the wing
I feel Wenger is a afraid to rotate / sub or replace certain players

Ramsey is a great player and maybe when rotation is needed give a chance ramsey + coquelin as the two
I feel that Chamberlain would be better since it would be more natural in Ramsey's current position I do hope Wenger will find a way to properly rotate and to fit Ramsey because if ya get him in form
then you know anyone knows what ramsey can do at his best

Wenger should give Alexis a rest. You can't expect him to perform well all season on the back of only 4 days training coming back from a summer tournament and barely rested.

To use Ramsey on the wing is not ideal either. Why not play Walcott and Ox on the wings for now and give Alexis a break?

Rooney, Ramsey...more good refereeing this weekend.

Two perfectly good goals, but incorrectly ruled out for offside. Then LFC's last week against Bournemouth...sigh.

Cech playing great today so important saves

Ramsey shouldve had a goal wrongly ruled offside Skrtel kept him on
Also another good break aswell wrongly ruled offside

Overall happy with performance defence a bit shakey
mainly Chambers giving the ball away which lead to liverpool's best chances
Although Gabriel playing pretty good
Liked mentioned before I want to see him and Koscielny in future as the two cbs
Important game and its great to see Cech stepping up especially with the change in the defence

Hopefully Arsenal can step it up in the second half

Very tight offside call. His shoulder might have been off. You hope that the benefit is given to the attacker but either way it's so close I don't think it's something that can be moaned about too much. Rooney was off

Apart from LFC vs Bournemouth the refs have done quite well so far this season.

It was onside period quite easy to see in replay skertl kept him on
Tough for linesman to see in real time ofcourse
But fact remains it was onside
The goal would've changed the entire game

Also whats the point of talking to the goalkeeper and even giving him a yellow card if your not gonna do anything after
Ofcourse no ref has the balls to send of a keeper for that offence
but the amount of time wasted by mignolet was ridiculous
From his very first goal kick to the last massive amount of time wasted
Shocked it took so long for his booking

In my opinion a rule should be brought in and if a goalkeeper wastes too much time then give a free kick in the penalty box but players can be in the box on the goal line or whatever

Plus side Cech had a fantastic game
Gabriel I thought was really good too he needs to be in 1st 11 with Kos

Chambers a bit shakey but done well enough

Shoulder looks like it might be further inside the box than Skeletor's arse

So close tho. At that speed, linesmen basically have to guess/rely on instinct.
After failing pretty miserably at an Offside challenge app I don't really complain about offsides unless they're pretty obvious

Which is why linesmen are instructed to side with the attacker if it's level.

Balls already (just) left the foot there, I don't believe you can call that offside.

Slightly easier call than last week though!

If you can't get a call being the home side then I guess we'll just have to depend on the mood of the ref . Good game Liverpool looked better then good in the the 1st half. They say back in front of gol(2nd half) and They might play like that a lot more this season. Too many air balls and not enough from us :(

Chambers made more errors then I could count. Still early days

Fair result with two poor refereeing decisions. (onside Ramsey goal and Benteke penalty refused)

Both teams looked able to challenge top four or higher. Still very early in the season but both Arsenals bench and Liverpools have some depth.

I'd love these two teams to push for the title but City and Chelsea will be too strong I feel

If we're to look at penalties, Arsenal had a penalty shout when Giroud's right leg got completely taken out just before he shot off balance with his left (saved at close range by Mignolet in the follow up).

Cech starting to show why he's been brought. There were 2 outstanding saves. MOTM performance.
Gabriel and Coquelin were fantastic as well.

We need our offense players to find form quickly. Sanchez is clearly jaded, he needs a little break and we have the personnel to fill in for him.
We need Welbeck back too, Giroud can't play all 90 minutes every time and I see no point in bringing Walcott as CF against deep sitting defences, which pretty much negates his best qualities.

PS: Not holding my breath for transfers.

Yep. That type of special keeper who can make 1 or 2 critical saves can be all the difference and win you games and titles.

Last thing I'll say about the liverpool game there's a difference between good goalkeeping and a disallowed goal

So Newcastle game I'm just annoyed
Yes ref done well regarding the red card for mitrovic it was a bad stamp and there's intent

but newcastle were lucky not to have another 2 or even 3 players sent off
and arsenal should've had a penalty
btw i think it was more dangerous a stamp from behind on bellerin which in my opinion because theres less protection
he shouldve been sent off also he got booked later aswell so 100% shouldve been sent off
Sissoko lucky too with his stamp on monreal

I think newcastle only tactics were stamp arsenal players
newcastle are a DISGRACE in this game
although krul has done well for them

Newcastle fans.... I think they need to show certain replays on the big screen
because they are actually lucky, its looks bad of them booing for no reason

I dont know why other teams complain about refs
they need to see arsenal games

My concerned is that the fans will affect the ref in the 2nd half

Not sure If I am watching a football match or a wrestling match.

Edit: It's funny how Arsenal calls Chelsea boring. I fell a sleep once already just watching Arsenal vs Newcastle. Such a slow build up play and Newcastle showing nothing but just playing physically.

A hard fought one nil win
a frustrating game but arsenal deserved the win for sure

Colback comitted 5 fouls after getting a yellow card
2 breakaways 1 stamp....
clearly fans affected the ref

newcastle shouldve had 4 players total sent off

dont know why newcastle fans are booing the ref they should be cheering
because reality they shouldve
had 4 players sent off and arsenal shouldve had a penalty

there was actually no bad decision that went against newcastle....
