Arsenal Thread

Johnny Evans, great coup ;))

:LMAO:

@AK.Rabona I really think and we know from the past that Wenger is a transgender :BLEH: thinker, he`s all for Trans-defens-acker. When I saw Gabriel I said he plays pure defensively and very quick. Wenger would try to covert him to a DM? Arteta is a DM lol Cazorla played CM partnering Coq during the last few weeks of the season. I remember Vertonghen saying Wenger wanted to convert him to a DM . He ran so fast to Levy to sign w/o knowing his wages. Wenger won`t sign a DM!!! He might buy another winger-ST player!

Me personally I would love Canvani or Lacazette. I have no clue whose really available or not I won`t buy into the Higuain fiasco. We have Alexis 25 goals in his 1st season :BOP:

That muzzy guy says some people might think the signing is average but he thinks he's a top player.

Makes me think it's Higuain

Giroud over Higuain for me any day.

Oh and this Muzzi fella is clearly a clown.

Arsenal's away kit to be officially announced today in 24mins

Looking forward to the first pre-season game tomorrow
It'll be great to see Cech play

I think Lacazette would be a decent signing
Its hard to say he would have to prove himself

I would really like to see either Benzema, Cavani or Higuain
Maybe Lacazette is the more likely

What happened to Willy Carvalho?

Definitely need a striker - but possibly be out muscled in the market, and not many out there to be honest. Higuain had a stinker of a copa, but is still a class act... lets see what transpires.

Will be interesting to see what United do too. Can't see them relying on Shrek all season as their out and out striker.

Willie is out for 3month-stress fracture...:JAY:

I think MUFC will get Cavani,Higuain or Benzema .They`ll have 7 new players that is going to be interesting mix. I have no doubt they will manage better then Newsc, Spurs and Liverpool.

I hear Monreal is leaving back to Spain. He kept Gibbs on the bench it took him 2 seasons to get him fitted. Why leave? Then I read we`re in for Napoli`s Faouzi love the name , at £7.7m seems low in today`s market. I think our back will be so strong w/ CeCh @goal.

Wenger 'no need for a ST, we've got Akpom'

Yeah, i threw my paper on the tube when i read that this morning. Come on Wenger - we have a great squad - strengthen it with Quality. God knows why he isn't backing up Coq and Giroud - it's plain to see! Will prob leave it till the last half hour of the transfer window, and then say they need 2-3 months to settle in.

I'm also resigning myself to Cech being the only signing this window.

Did he seriously say thay? It sounds like a joke haha. But with Wenger the distinction between joke and reality, is a thin line. :D

If he's seriously thinking that, then I don't know what to say. Does he not see the examples of Yaya Sanogo, Bendtner, Chamakh, etc? Let's say he really overvalues his players, then does he not see his competition. Chelsea with Costa, Falcao, Remy. City with Aguero, Dzeko, Jovetic.

Also...

Another great Arsenal tactic: "We're in the market, but it's difficult. There are not many world class players available out there thoug." Yes, obviously there aren't many left out there, because you spent the past 3 months watching Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, United, City, Bayern, etc sign them all up.

Yeah, he's different to other managers. He's probably thinking Giroud, Walcott, Sanchez, Wellbeck, Akpom... we're ok. We're defintely not ok. Should be Giroud, New Player, Wellbeck, Akpom.

We also need cover for the Coq. Arteta and Flamini do not have as much industry as Coq, and Flamini is awfully prone to brain farts every now and then. Carvalho out with a broken tibia for 12 weeks. Who does that leave? Javi Martinez? Éver Banega? Steven Defour? Nigel de Jong? Grzegorz Krychowiak? Asier Illarramendi? Some unsung(Song?) hero? Is Krystian Bielik ready?

Lets see what happens, but it's typically Arsenal. We do things the hard way, or suffer till January window, and then think "oh, if we signed him in the summer, it would have been ok"

:LMAO: he just said he was promoting him to the senior. That means a couple appearances in games throughout the season. Wenger is waiting for clubs to get desperate to sell before they do buy . He needs clubs to know he's not desperate to buy. I do think Wenger has spies outside RM .

Exactly a year ago most Spurs fans (including me) were fuming because Spurs didn't buy a striker...

If anyone would have talked about Kane, we would have had the same reaction as Arsenal fans now...look at Kane now...most clubs would have given millions to have a player like him...maybe Akpom is the next Kane...

I think Akpom will be a great player but i havent seen enough of him yet to say thats he's ready which is the question, is he ready or not?
he looks promising who knows if he's given the chance, he could take it if given a bit of time like bellerin etc...

Anyways its great that Bellerin signed a new deal he made fantastic progress last season

Maybe. But also maybe not. We saw Yaya Sanogo and he never looked like he would be world class. It could go either ways, and to challenge for the title you need more than that. It's weird, Joel Campbell who had a fantastic WC didn't even get a proper chance.

Maybe. But also maybe not.

I agree.
It will always be a gamble.

But if there would never be a club who took a gamble with a young player, there would never be stars again...even Messi, Ronaldo, Maradonna, Cruijff, Cantona, Henry and others where once a gamble...

On top of that, it is in Arsenal's philisophy to promote young players and give them first team chances.

By the way, i also agree about Campbell, but maybe Wenger knows things we don't...

Akpom has terrific pace and looks promising. I'm just not sure he's ready for a breakthrough in the Premiership right now.

I don't think Wenger is done with his transfer business, but when he looks at Giroud and Welbeck, and then there's Walcott who can play central sometimes... Maybe he would get second thoughts about a new striker.

Normally I get frustrated when Wenger says this but in this case I would agree: we should only sign someone who is significantly better than what we have. Otherwise you're just cramming your squad with more people taking up space and on high wages.

It would need to be someone of the caliber of Cavani, Benzema or Lewandowski.

As for Sanogo, he's not that bad. Very raw, yes, but he changed that FA Cup final on its head last year when it looked as though it was lost. Also, Frank de Boer is looking to get him on loan for his Ajax squad. That tells you something.

A name were being heavily linked with but honestly, is he really that much better than Giroud? I honestly have never been impressed bar a disallowed goal he once scored in a friendly.

I'm the same. Every time I've watched him play I've never seen what all the fuss was about. Maybe he was at his best at Napoli, which admittedly I hardly watched much of.

He was much better at Napoli where he played CF.
At PSG Zlatan was played as CF and Cavani had to play more as a winger, which isn't natural for him.

At PSG, he was never the player he was with Napoli.
